I'm a 27 years old guy who allways wanted to work in an artistic field.
I've studied photography for 5 years and when I was done whith that, I had no clue how to become a professionnal photographer.
The big problem is that the profession kind of fell apart when I was studying it due to the rise of digital photography.
I'm from Belgium wich is a small country north of France. Opportunities for careers in photography in Belgium are almost non-existant. I have some friends working in studios and they all say that they dont get paid some weeks because there are no jobs coming in.
I've met a few pros and they all tell the same story on how photographers kept lowering their rates and killed the business.
Still some manage to live from it.
As I struggled to find a spot in a studio/lab, I found two part-time jobs.
They're not related to the practice of photography. Until recently I haven't felt the urge to go back to taking pictures.
I have some projects that I'd like to work on.
I decided that I would take on this journey by taking baby steps towards my goal.
For my first project I wanted to go to a school next to the place I'm working to take portraits of students.
As I was wrighting about the project I thought it would be great to include the students.
So i build a dossier to pitch my project to the school.
But I'm hitting a wall.
English is not my mother tongue, and as decent as it might look, my english don't permit me to translate everything correctly.
The school i'm pitching to is an american scool in Belgium. My dossier needs to be well translated.
Wich is why I'm calling out for help.
If anyone Has great skills in translating french to engligh, please send me a pm.
If not, I'll try my best by myself.
Anyways, I'll be posting some pictrues I take on a weekly basis.
The purpose of this blog is to keep me going.
Since i'm knowlegeable about photography, anyone who'd like to learn more about it is welcome to ask me tips, tricks and so on. I'd be glad to help!
As a first sample of my work:
See you guys in a week!
