And that's just it. Bo3 is a time saving format, not one that finds the best player at the event. Bo5s should come sooner. If you've made it to the ro8 (i'd honestly say even the ro16) out of 96 players, you deserve a bo5.

GSL never had to flip a coin to decide who advances from their groups. I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous blank statement. The only reason GSL doesn't have coinflip situations occur is because they have fewer matches in the group stages. They don't let every player face eachother which makes it less fair (if fair is defined as having the best players advancing from the group). In a GSL style format, this is what would have happened: Yugioh > Strelok Lucifron > Timestamp Lucifron > Yugioh Strelok > Timestamp Strelok > Yugioh Lucifron and Strelok advances. The reason Strelok advances over Yugioh (even though they're 1-1 in matches) is because he happened to win those matches in the "correct order". How does that makes sense? Yugioh also suffers from having to play a tougher opponent in Lucifron, while Strelok is matched up against Timestamp. The reason Lucifron advances is because he never had to play Strelok, against whom he would've lost. How is that fair? Seriously, Dreamhack goes to great length trying to determine the rightful winners of the groups. They allow for more matches than GSL, which makes it more fair. However, at some point they just can't keep letting the players play tie-breakers. Cliff notes: Stop bitching about coinflips, Dreamhack's group format is better than GSL's for determining the best players. That's not even up for debate. If anything, argue that Dreamhack's format is too time consuming or that coinflips look bad for the casual and uneducated viewer.
