that would be very Boring, indeed.

really? I think the only way that could be better is if Jaedong beat Verdi, but I'd love to see a Leenock vs Gumiho finals

edit: and yeah, these gaping holes in tournament formats are getting quite old. It's 2013 and we still have a bo3 bracket and coin flips. Can't get much more retarded. At least we have a good ro16 player pool, or it would be a total laughable disaster.

Why should the fact that it's 2013 change those things? Has time slowed down? They have a lot of games to run and a limited amount of time to run them in. They can't do every game bo37 and they can't do endless tiebreakers.

Seriously, "laughable disaster"? Wow.

Lol. GSL never had to flip a coin to decide who advances from their groups.

And that's just it. Bo3 is a time saving format, not one that finds the best player at the event. Bo5s should come sooner. If you've made it to the ro8 (i'd honestly say even the ro16) out of 96 players, you deserve a bo5.

GSL doesn't have to be played in 2 days.

Fucking add more computers then. It doesn't matter what it takes, man. Flipping a coin to decide who advances in a tournament is uncalled for. There's no excuse. An established business and a series of trained professions working on an international level should be able to figure out a way to make it work. And not just work, work seamlessly. If it takes a little extra time for one group to find their results, then broadcast group stage 3 matches in OTHER groups first..among a number of other things Dreamhack is responsible for thinking about.

it doesn't have to be the GSL format, necessarily. It just has to not be stupid.

wtf more computers ? do you think before you post ?
ther was enough "computers" they waited and waited and even with that they had to play until late in the night ... how long should have the others wait and finish tournament ? 3am ? 5am ? thats bs
the problem was the delay of the tournament there IS an excuse and as much i hate a coinflip it was the 120% only and correct way to do it ... lol with GSL vs dreamhack a motnhly tournament where you have 1 group xD you CANT delay something when you only play 1 group a day but here was another group AFTER that group to play with others to wait ..
why i disucc with someone not understand anyhting btw ?

Here's what I want to know. In the tiebreak series, if lucifron would have lost that 2nd game to strelok, then strelok would have advanced as first. Would they then flip a coin to tie break lucifron and yugioh, or would they have let them play one more bo1 to determine second? If they would have played one more bo1, then it would have been in lucifron's best interest to lose to strelok so his chances wouldn't rest on a coin flip, but on playing yugioh one more time.

No, during the second tiebreak, Lucifron had already lost to Yugioh. Hence, if Lucifron loses to Strelok, for that particular tiebreak, the standings are

Strelok 2-0
Yugioh 1-1
Lucifron 0-2

And Strelok and Yugioh make it through regardless.
