So, after a HELL of a long time striving to reach Masters, yesterday I finally got there.
It took me about three hours to realise that I no longer had any idea where to go from here.
Ever since I've had SC2, I've always had a goal, generally reaching the next league. But that's not really an option any more. Striving for GM is just too far away, and I honestly don't think I'm EVER going to get there, whereas I always thought I might be capable of hitting Masters someday. I enjoy SC2 for it's own sake, but for some reason I enjoy it significantly more when I have a goal I'm working towards.
So the question is, what should I set as my goal from here? I live in Australia, so trying for KR Masters could be an option. I'm guessing that the bottom of KR Masters is something like NA mid-masters, which is a good goal. (But I can't quantify "mid-masters", so I can't set that as a goal, hence the KR idea.)
Any other ideas for a goal? Ideally, the goal would be quantifiable. There should be absolutely no doubt that I've gotten there or not, like "Reach NA Masters" was, whereas "Learn style X" isn't. And I want it to be challenging, but not too challenging. It should be beyond my current abilities, so that I have to improve in order to get there, but it shouldn't be ridiculously beyond them like Grandmaster is.
Thanks for any ideas you guys come up with, and thanks for reading!

fk it baylife go for GM :D high rank on masters is good too

Try top 8 in your division, then go for top 500 on your server. This should be enough for a long time.

I got top 400 in US last year (just barely) and I'm still decently proud of that. Some people ask me if I play SC at school and I can tell them that, and even if they don't play video games they can understand the effort I put into reaching that goal.

Go for something you'd be proud to tell others!

Grats yo. I remember when my goal was C- all those years ago ;D

Stop playing as much, try a new race. As soon as I got to masters, I stopped caring. Thn I tried Zerg and got to masters in 3 weeks (after just playing it in 4v4's).
If you're like me, once you hit masters the point of playing 1v1's 'competitively' kind of becomes lost (I'm also goal driven). However, if you feel you quite haven't achieved what you wanted to, aim for top 8 for sho

Get to KR Masters. I'm in NA Masters and I'm currently having the crap beat out of me by high diamond dudes on the KR ladder.

haha I remember that experience. I remember playing on korean server for my first time (this was back when GM just came out). I was GM on NA and I got to masters easily but I still lost quiet a bit to high diamond players. Boy was that shocking

I'm going to assume you got masters on NA, because most aussies i know play on NA. maybe you should swap back to SEA, enjoy the lower ping, and get SEA GM SEA GM seems like a bit of a joke to me, compared to other region's GM leagues, but it's still decently higher than low masters on another server

Jup, going from bronze to master was way easier than say master-->top 300.

Haha I agree with you; getting to SEA GM is one of my next goals as well, aside from getting to KR Masters

Wouldn't it take ages to find games in SEA, due to the low amount of people playing at the Masters+ level?
|
It's really not that bad for finding games

Hmm, okay. I guess I have a few options then

get masters with two races \ o / then get gm with two races \ o / !

Get to rank 1 in your division and keep it. When you are always rank 1 in your division, then GM won't be so far away.
|
Play to improve and have fun. That's all. You don't need a new league to strive for and make you feel good. Getting to high masters from low masters is like going from silver to diamond.
