I was always wondering, why do girls attending events like MSL/OSL/Proleague matches always hide away their faces, behind those posters of favorite progamers, or just in between their palms when the camera gets near? Is it just shyness?
I don't think so, because almost every (if not every) girl does this. I was thinking it could be some Korean-culture related thing, perhaps something similar to how Arab women always wear those robes that cover their heads in public; or perhaps it's just Korean modesty, I mean look at their mentality, I find it quite awesome - but then again, men never seem show this kind of behavior.
I can't understand the point of manually making a poster with Kang Min's face on it (and some gibberish written all around it too), coming to the event with religiously punctuality (SC fans in Korea are not that MANY, but are LOYAL as hell, at least that's my impression), and shouting KANG MIN FIGHTING, but when the camera approaches (for a couple of seconds or whatever), you hide your face.
Maybe it's not that big of a deal, but I was always wondering.

As far as I know its just like koreans don't like to be on TV or Screens - because they are shy.. or its not like they would like to be there. Thats why they hide !
|
Ya they should wear veils from now on
|
Why would it be "like they don't want to be there"? They don't want to be seen there? Because obviously they enjoy coming, would attending e-sports games be regarded weird/childish/nerdy by friends/schoolmates/workmates in Korea? I had the opposite impression, I thought Koreans are open-minded enough to have a casual, or normal view towards StarCraft leagues.

Maybe embarassed to be on TV, for everyone to see them?

because they're super shy.

obviously because they don't want mom to find out where they go after school every day

Because they know 5,000 nerds in America will be checking them out if they don't.

lol The fact is, most of them seem past the age where "mom" has a influence anymore.... But perhaps they're more respectful towards parents than Europeans are. Oh where is Rekrul, he could lighten me up, I suppose.

This is like the 2020th time this has been asked on tl.net. T_T

I hate the creating posts with huge spaces to hide the ending fad that seems to be sweeping teamliquid. An elipse will do fine.

cause they dont want ppl to see they're strats isn't it.

I thought there was some kind of cultural superstition involving cameras, souls, and bad things happening?

I think they are just shy. I see them cover their mouths or turn away sometimes while laughing in my uni also.

its just natural for korean girls to never want a picture of themselves released unless its at perfect angle with lots of makeup and lots of photoshop
that and its just part of the culture, everyone does it, they probably see people doing it as babies and mimic
