I agree that he falters in Code S, but recently in non-Code S matches against top ZvP players, he's been looking very strong.

I dont know where that inconsistent talk comes from. That guy has been in Code S soo many times in a row, always being the same level. Squirtle results have been way more wackey than Genius'.

Hmm, I know what you mean, but I do feel like Squirtle losing would be a much bigger upset. I'm not sure what it is, but Squirtle just seems like such a badass that I wouldn't expect him to lose to just anyone (not saying Roro is just anyone) yet something about Genius, perhaps his mixture of laziness and cockiness, makes me not surprised for Genius to lose to anyone, despite his past results.

Lol no one is truly consistent in SC2, I don't really even know what that term is supposed to mean at this point. The thing is that players who are Code S regulars are still pretty inconsistent inside of Code S, if you look at specific instances of their play. For example, Nestea might be "consistently" in Code S, but he doesn't consistently perform well at all - for example, his absolutely horrendous play against HuK a while ago in which he threw away a completely won game, or even his getting stomped at the hands of Byun in the most recent quarterfinals (Byun played well, but Nestea certainly didn't make it very hard for him, to say the least). Genius in turn looked brilliant in his finals run, but has gone out relatively early in Code S since then. Squirtle also went out in the Ro16 of the most recent Code S, but his group was, to be fair, the group of death, with MC, MKP, and Symbol (right when Symbol was running hot off of his ridiculous GSTL performances), a far harder group than any of the groups that Genius went out in IMO.

Mvp has been consistently winning major tournament since he started playing. He already won 2 major tournaments this year. Consistency doesn't mean you have to win every single match. SC2 pros have to play so many games.

The only exception is Fruitdealer who won pretty much all of his money from one GSL season. ( and is still in the top 10 of earnings @_@ ) Prize money can be a good metric for judging consistency... but it all depends on how you define what you mean by consistency. Even players like MVP and MC, despite winning shitloads of prize money, still have certain games where they just look terrible. Even though players do play tons of games and no one is going to win all their games, I don't think there's a player who is consistently able to look scary even when he loses. But my standards for what I think consistency means are very likely too high, so eh.
