My name is FLXenocide from team firelight. (Currently named supplybockedtv because of a show that never got off the ground because my computer cannot handle streaming)
Here are just a few thoughts about my journey from bronze to masters, and the future.
A year ago i started playing starcraft, never had i touched a competitive rts before, besides some bot stomping in age of empires with friends.
I went from bronze to master league, i just recently got promoted, but even in master league i keep rising in points, i am now sitting at above 800 points and still have bonus pool left.
Questions arise these last days since i got promoted to master league, and finding my winrate not dropping but even rising by a tiny bit.
Should i go the extra mile?
Is it worth it?
Will i have time enough troughout the year when i do my studies and practice sports to stay competitive with starcraft?
When i think back to the person i was when i entered my first starcraft 1v1 and the person i have become, i can without doubt say that starcraft changed me for the better. My way of thinking has become more strategic, faster, more efficient...even outside the realm of starcraft.
When i check sc2ranks and see that i am above the 80th percentile of master league, can i push it even further, become better, become faster?
Or is it all, as someone mentioned, in a post, on teamliquid, nothing but a pipe-dream we chase, just waiting to be confronted with the hard reality of life?
I guess, i will press 'Find Match' once more.
(Sorry for the rambling..just needed to vent my thoughts)
Edit: WOHOO NEW ACHIEVEMENT

If you are looking for a confidence boost, you should grab an NA account and hit GM there
That's what i did anyway, i was like mid/high masters in the second season of GM when i did that
Though to be fair, GM was a lot easier back then
But anyone whos high masters on EU can easily kick ass in GM on NA

In my experience there are quite a lot of players in the top masters range in EU of similar skill, just below the GM range. Breaking through that barrier would require a lot of work for sure but if you feel truly devoted to it you should give it a shot.
I would suggest that you try entering some Playhem dailies or similar just to see how far you can reach as well as having something to get motivated by. When you start taking games of GMs consistently I think this thought of yours becomes less of a pipe dream and more of a possibility. GL anyhow ^_^

I'm around 800pnt masters on EU atm too but I don't feel like I'm a good player at all if you're talking GM/pro.
If your winrate is increasing as you say, then perhaps you have a shot, but for reference I play about 10-12 hours a week on average (sometimes play up to 4-5 hours in a day but have many days off too). I'm mostly just spending bonus pool, have about 100-200 left atm.
Anyway what I'm trying to say is; how much time are you putting into it currently, to get to 800+ points with a good winrate, how much time can you realistically put into it without messing up your life, and do you think that's enough to make a BIG leap in skill (you're quite far off if I had to guess).
Also could you clarify your goal a bit? You say next step but is that you becoming a pro? or just high masters/gm?
EDIT: Also gz on masters See more "I want to achieve" than "I did achieve" So nice going.

Dont know what i ment with this writing, was tired and stressed up from laddering almost all day xD, Guess, coming from bronze, and trough alot of playing ending up in master league, just gave me that feeling of `almost there now`. I also do not consider myself a good player at this point... but i do feel myself improving at a really fast rate lately, figuring out my matchups, making small adjustments to my builds etc... and since i have been in master league my winrate this season has gone from 50-55% range to 58%+ and rising consistently (around 200 games played) . Might also be because master league is more predictable then diamond...
My goal at this moment is simply to get to 1200-1400 points. but my dream since bronze has been to become the best, just shit i started playing at the age of 21...
edit: hit 900 points now..1000 points here i come :D

Beaten two pros today :D ...such a weird experience.. feels unreal...but i did it somehow xD
