All of them failed due to a combination of old maps by map makers were posted, or rushed and otherwise useless ones having formed, drowning any thoughtful initiatives. If there was going to be a map making effort I personally believe it'd have to be a private matter with a private congregation of map makers and the organizers who would use them. Testing could be easily fulfilled by an organizer or two, and a couple of players. Game is absolutely correct. Cynical, but correct. I feel like this community has some good mapmakers in it, and players who'd be willing to practice maps in-between leagues. I'd be willing to jump in on a commitee to push for new maps, and I feel like Eywa should as well if he is going to continue to head up the GC. The GC and future ISLs will be the mold that other tourneys will mold themselves after.

KeSPA had to keep ratings up so standard v standard would certainly be boring. But I like having a few less than balanced maps so certain matchups can be dynamic and change.

I think if they were to use new maps, a lot of the players would just adapt them. Besides, as the Dutch already said, Panschk and users of his page released a lot of really good maps that were actually used in different leagues and official Blizzard events. Someone just needs to contact them and ask them for it. If there was actually a demand for new maps right now. :| On August 09 2012 20:31 Eywa- wrote: Kespa maps are not balanced for the most part. Source and statistics please. I don't think you can judge this as a low level D player that has only been around for about a few years. :/

What's the general skill level of foreign Brood War right now? Compared to before Sc2 hit (like TSL 2)?

Compared to before Sc2 hit (like TSL 2)? Depends on how you look at it. If you take the best 30 players right now and compare it to tsl2 qualifiers, the tsl2 qualifiers are better (assuming that they kept practicing for past 2 years and kept up with modern trends). But there are some people who play now who could potentially get top 8 in tsl (sziky was like #7 on the tsl ladder, and even better now) and if you look at it in terms of talented people as a percentage of the player base, I'd say it's similar.
