So I made this a while ago, but now I'm ready to post it! I've also re-made my personal food blog (which you can see here: http://kierpanda.wordpress.com/).
I'm still going to cross post most of the content on my TL blog, so don't worry missing out on any recipes.
Anyways, let's get to the important thing: FOOD.
This is a spin on the classic French Toast dish. It's basically a peanut butter banana sandwich dipped in French Toast batter. I also gave it a nice SC2 related name!
INGREDIENTS
- 6 slices of bread (I used sprouted whole wheat bread, but feel free to choose regular white bread)*
- 1 cup of peanut butter
- 1/2 cup of cream (I used soy cream)
- 2 bananas
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 tea spoon of butter (not shown)
- 1/2 tablespoon of powdered sugar (not shown — also optional)
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 1/3 cup of Grade A maple syrup (or the purest syrup you can find… don’t get syrup with additives in it)
*Note: Sprouted whole wheat bread has a very distinct flavor. You can still taste hints of the "earthiness" of it even with the batter. I typically choose sprout whole wheat (or just regular whole wheat in general) for my recipes just because I'm somewhat health conscious.
PROCEDURE
- Crack your two eggs into a bowl. Whisk eggs.
- Add vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
- Whisk in your cream.
- Transfer the mixture to a shallow dish. This will be used to dip the sandwiches.
- Place a skillet on high heat.
Slice your bananas. - Spread peanut butter on each slice of bread.
- Place bananas on one peanut buttered slice. Place another piece of peanut buttered bread on top to make a sandwich.
- Place butter in the hot pan.
- Place your completed sandwich in the egg/cream mixture. Let it soak for a few seconds and then flip the sandwich over to coat the opposite side.
- When sandwich is fully coated, remove it and place in the hot pan.
- Let the sandwich cook for about 1 – 2 minutes on each side, or until the side is golden brown.
- Remove sandwich and place on a plate.
- (OPTIONAL) Dust with powdered sugar.
FOR THE BLUEBERRY MAPLE "CREEP SPREAD" SAUCE
- Place a small pan on high heat.
- Add your maple syrup.
- Add in your blueberries.
- Reduce heat to medium.
- Let the sauce reduce. The sauce will begin to turn purple when it’s done.
- Remove from heat and plate sauce with the toast.
And you're done! :D
I took some time and made a zerg stencil. Just print out a zerg symbol and cut it out. Once you've done that, place it on the toast and dust powdered sugar on it. Hooray!
Oh yeah, I never posted about this, but I managed to meet MC at E3 (my boyfriend and I were on business there -- we both work for gaming companies).
omgomgomgomg it's MC
I totally nerded out. I saw him walk into a cafe while my boyfriend and I were charging our phones at charging station.
It pretty much went like this:
Me: omg, babe? Is that MC?
him: Huh?
Me: GO LOOK. I THINK I JUST SAW MC WALK BY. GO LOOK.
boyfriend goes and looks, discovers it is in fact MC. he is buying lunch with his translator
him: It's MC! Let's get a picture with him.
me: OK YES.
my boyfriend asked his translator if we were interrupting and if it was okay to snag a photo with him. Translator gave us the OK. Photos were taken and we wished MC good luck in MLG.
SORRY MC FOR BEING CREEPY FANS. ): You are just rad, so if you're reading this, thank you so much being awesome to your fans . <3
By the way, that was my first time meeting a SC2 pro. It was pretty awesome.
I took a picture of me and my boyfriend after meeting him and we have like the dumbest grins on our faces. yeah. D:
