I disagree. Tradition is not a valid excuse for having a poor format....(or most anything in life for that matter). GSL's current group system is better because it cuts out all the random shit that occurs in a best of one.

Horses work as a mode of travel for thousands of years. It wasn't until the 20th century that the world switched to cars simply because it is better.

GSL's current group system is better because it cuts out all the random shit that occurs in a best of one. or players would have to prepare thrice as much to avoid those random shit (or you mean, in other words, cheese?). Yeah, if there was so much "random shit" in the OSL, would dominant players exist after all? Would Flash/JangBang/fanta make to tving semis? better player will have bettter preparation (look at mvp last GSL). If you have 2 weeks in advance to prepare for two bo1s and still lose, then you suck And Im not mentioning about things like timeslot, programs schedule etc which a cable tv station like OGN has to consider

BW and SC2 are different games. The better player was usually able to win more often because as the game went on, despite any build order disadvantages or blind counters, the higher skillcap meant that better players usually still came out in the end. In SC2 you could lose a game in some matchups just from a build order loss, which is why Bo3 is usually preferrable.

Seems like OGN picked the most balanced maps for the most part, although the Entombed win/rate for TvZ also really surprised me. TvZ winrate on Antiga is dropping quite consistantly of late.

How many of those GSLs have Bo1s? Not many. Which is the point of this conversation. Bo1s in SC2 is absolutely horrible.
