But don't get me wrong, there were also some group matches in the BW era that few people watching at the studio. But with the BW big names in the group matches, the studio should be packed. Today's matches are all between the biggest names in SC2, but still very few people are there. Worry about KESPA. Mr. Chae has shown he can pack the studio and get thousands of people to show up for GSL finals. If these groups were in the GSL, the place would be packed. I would blame it more on KESPA's marketing of SC2 and how their fan base is mainly Brood War fans.

Koreans seem to be fans of players more so than the game. If you had Flash, Fantasy, Bisu and Jaedong playing Sc2 the place would be packed. Perhaps when the GOM players destroy the Kespa players in this OSL the Korean Kespa fans will warm to guys like Mvp and DRG more.

Point being, OGN currently has yet to develop or represent the SC2 community well. Not having English casting also hurts their efforts to reach out to the core SC2 fan base - International viewers. Well, I didn't have high expectations, but I thought with those big SC2 names, the SC2 fans would go to the studio and some of the old people may wanna give it a shot, so I expected there would be a little more people. But as someone above points out, Korean fan base is more player centered rather than game centered, so with JD and Flash and all other players, there should be packed, just like the old group matches in the BW era.

This is probably a shallow point of view, but if SC2 OGN/OSL/PSL fails completely because of no viewership and shuts down, it really shouldn't matter much. GSL/GSTL is doing great, and there is a plethora of weekly online events and pretty much fortnightly premiere events overseas, like MLG/IPL/DH/NASL/etc. The Kespa teams can still play and compete just like any other team in the current SC2 environment, and if they somehow can't, I'm sure the existing teams would be happy to pick quite a few of the players that wish to continue up. That's a doomsday scenario of course, and I really, really hope it doesn't turn out that way. But the point I'm making is that SC2 doesn't hinge on the success of the OSL. It's been doing just fine for 2 years without it.

I am not sure whether it is common or not, but it is definitely not the first time.

Let's wait a couple weeks so we can say they were able to fill out the sickest beach in busan. I wouldn't worry much, I probably wouldn't drive down to a studio on a monday evening for a new game and 8 players who I only know 1 of. GOM fans might just not go as protest given how kepsa managed to shut down gom after 3 star leagues in bw I wouldn't want to support kespa getting equally dominant in star 2 and push gom out again, after all people have been watching gom tv's starleague for almost 2 years now.

Watching MVP taking the first code S kind of disappointed me, because the only thing I remembered him for before SC2 was beating BaBy and losing to flash in some MSL (Bigfile or Hana Daetoo?). It felt like wow, this scrub can be so good? WTF is wrong with the game?
