I was really disappointed when I heard of the Kespa full switch to SC2 but it made sense and with the community BW was left with, it would have only been a slow agony to keep BW competition running. After SC2 came out, the BW community basically committed suicide by brainlessly bashing the new SC2 community and anything that could bring more exposure to it's game. Just my 2 cents but I think that's what most new SC2 players felt. It's even more pathetic now when the remainings of the BW community try to taunt SC2 players but still don't get any flame .... I won't start calling on maturity since communities are made of individuals and can't be considered as a whole but there definitely are some issues.
I don't mean to be rude but just because you played the game 12 years ago when it came out doesn't make you an expert on bw or what the community is all about. We have been playing and following the pro scene for years upon years. It's not that we bash sc2, it's that sc2 people like you that think they know bw constantly come into the bw section and harass us. We feel the need to defend ourselves and this is the outcome. All the people in these forums have TRIED sc2. We were the biggest fans when sc2 came out. Due to the mechanics that we had from bw, most of us performed fairly well when playing it.
Just understand that sc2 doesn't bring us the same amount of joy/satisfaction from playing/watching it. Leave us alone while we mourn over a dying game. We don't need to be told how awesome sc2 is...we know what we're talking about.

Dude read again, none of what you're defending yourself against is what I said. Never said I was good, just that I basically know the game and what's appealing about it. But trying to give yourself the role of the poor harassed community is hilarious when most of what I've read on BW forum lately was just brain-dead SC2 bashing from blind fanboys. BW players havebeen bashing SC2 players for quite a while with their "we're so much better than you because our game is harder" mentality. In the end you get what you deserve. And mourning a dying game is fine but I find it a bit ironic that you mourn a game your community basically helped to kill ... (bashing SC2 as a no-skill game never helped BW get more exposure FYI).
I respect both communities and will never say BW is bad because I know the game isn't (hell it's been an eSports for 12 years, it wouldn't have happened with a bad game), but the behaviour of some members of the BW community just doesn't serve it. At some point, acting like an elitist douche annoys people.

Edit: Man, all this paragraphs in a picture thread... You tell someone to use his brain before posting yet you didn't even think about the true purpose of this thread(make people smile, not read walls of text)... Bickering doesn't belong here. but that goes to all SC2/BW knights arguing in this thread.

TL killed BW? okay... you should take that back... I don't care who you are or what your other points are. Take that back.
Fanboys just read what they want to read .... brain-dead
You make a quote and you somehow manage to understand it in such a twisted way that it has nothing to do with what I initially meant. Use your brain before posting and don't extract 1 sentence of a whole paragraph than repost it out of context to serve your cause. I wrote that some people of the BW community with their attitude toward the SC2 community just gave a very bad image of the BW community which on the long term, definitely didn't help BW to get more exposure (which is what BW fans could have expected or at least hoped for). If you can't understand this I guess your case is helpless.
EDIT: at this point I think you're trolling for even thinking someone could say "TL killed BW" .... how retarded is that?

Thx for trolling, there's no need to answer if you don't read the post you're answering to! What have you done to add to the discussion other than purposefully incite anger? Did I take your quote out of context, or was the logic poorly constructed and didn't have a shred of evidence to back it up with? What have you done for the community to actually help BW if you did care for it? Here's what I've been doing: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=320183http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=346334http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=347791Go through my post history and tell me if I've ever put SC2 in a bad light unfairly, or have unfairly defended BW, or have made illogical arguments. I just asked you to take back a comment that was poorly constructed that would anger alot of people. Did I attack you personally? Even the contents of this thread, namely flash memes, have made positive influence on the mindsets and atmosphere of the BW players and scene (Flash signed a Flash meme at MLG). What are you doing? That one sentence didn't belong in your post and that's why I singled it out, show me conclusive proof that BW fans complaining that SC2 is an inferior product for them killed BW. This thread is not for arguing, it is for posting meme's. There's this awesome feature called private messages which you may find here: http://www.teamliquid.net/mytlnet/I'm sure you'll be able utilize it in a reasonable fashion and make everybody looking into this thread in hopes of finding funny memes feel a bit better by not dumping your intellectual waste into it anymore.

Finally constructive thoughts thank.
So let me make things clear, like I originally said (but you didn't seem to have read it) BW is a great game that I've been playing (very little that's true, but enough to enjoy it and never question it's quality). Now let's go back in history and be a bit logical. When SC2 was released it was clearly considered as the game who could help eSports get back on track as just like many industries were affected by the world's financial situation, eSports didn't have great years from 2008 to 2010. Now I wrote my university thesis on that topic so if you're really curious about that PM me and you'll get 70 pages of document explaining that (though it's in French as my university asked it that way ...). SC2 being very likely to become a very important eSport, it would bring exposure to the eSport scene in general just by existing. And of course, it's only logical to think that by bringing exposure to the scene, it would bring some to BW too. After all, once people here about SC2, many might be curious about the game which set what basically any competitive RTS should aim toward being: aka BW.
BUT, what turned out bad IMO is that instead of just embracing the Starcraft franchise as a whole, some of the BW players (AKA members of BW community) started bashing SC2 players, basically acting like elitist douches. This is somehow an understandable human reaction (the whole "I knew about X before it was cool" here turns out to be "I played competitive RTS before it became so mainstream with SC2"). In the end what happened is that a cleavage between the SC2 community and BW community was created which should have never even existed in the first place. By dividing the RTS fans community in BW and SC2 communities, both those game didn't get as much exposure as they could have. Now it didn't matter that much for SC2 because the game was young and meant to keep on rising, but for BW, I think it's much more problematic since the game probably didn't have that many great years ahead of him (with SC2 logically gaining more and more importance).
In the end my point is that part of the BW community contributed in accelerating BW's decline with that attitude. Now to make things clear, I never said BW TL community (sure TL is by far the biggest community but the BW VS SC2 war didn't only happen here, check Reddit, Bnet forums, etc ...) so don't take it so personally.
As for why all this discussion is held on that topic, I have absolutely no idea why this is. It started pages ago. I just felt like I was reading too much bullshit (or at least, what I consider to be bullshit) lately so I wanted to give my thoughts on that like everyone does on forums.
Once again, I have nothing against BW and it's a great game, but don't blindly defend a community just based on the fact that you belong to it. The BW community especially people who have been here for a long time did a huge amount of work (just by existing) for eSports development, but still some of it's members' behaviour after SC2's release cost it quite a bit. Also I don't have time to read all your contribution to those forums but I'm sure you did a lot considering your amount of posts, can't see how this is relevant in this discussion though.
PS: I called you brain-dead fanboy coz that's seriously what your first post made me think of you, though I now can see you can clearly explain your point and discuss a subject constructively. Didn't call you retarded, just called retarded the idea of "TL killed BW" because it's plain wrong, you know it, I know it, and everyone knows it.
