edit: also only 8k dps (11k if I switch out one of the skills for battle shout) and 10% block since I have no money for shields with decent block.
What's your life on hit? Do you have any sources of % melee reduction (or other damage reduction types)?
You do have to keep increasing your primary defensive stats in A2, but to progress A2 and beyond, you also need to improve those secondary defensive stats (life on hit, % damage reduction, shield block). I'm pretty sure that you don't even need your armor/HP/resists to be as high as yours are, so long as you have decent amounts of those secondary stats.

All of those secondary stats are at zero, or very low (shield block). I should probably look into changing out some of my gear, although it's gonna take a while since farming money is hard in A1 (you very rarely get stuff that you can sell for more than 100k or something).

Tip: Get a 25+ block shield that blocks 3700 - 4700 damage, rest doesn't matter. They're less than 50k. Try afterwards and come report your discoveries.
Also act 1 farm definitely is possible, when a single butcher takes 30min and you get nearly 2 inventories per run there's a good chance to make some money. I've found a 1mil helm and 1.5mil boots from act1.

Act I is decent farming.. dropped two legendaries for me and about a dozen items that sold for 500k or 1mil+.

who was nigel cuttthroat? Why were his item drops nerfed?
edit;http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4210105011
guess he was that dude. apparently that was decent farm, very fast, very easy and 54% rare drop rate with 31% MF for that guy over 50 runs...

He's the dude in the Old Mill in act 1, inbetween Fields of Mystery and Drowned Temple I think?

Call me a noob but:
TIL you have to ACTIVATE revenge when it procs, it's not automatic.
Also, TIL revenge is awesome and almost essential. Good AOE and amazing healing. With the 30% rune it's almost always on. you are a noob But yeah, I also just discovered how amazing revenge is. I didn't use it before simply because there was no need but after getting to inferno, I learned how great it is. I recently cleared my first champion mob by literally spamming revenge because it was just always active (I was also always almost dead hehe). Which rune did you use? The 30% rune. I think it only worked that way cause it was a pretty weak mob, for Inferno. No broken combos or anything. Still early stage of Ac1 so it's really not anything to get excited over; just that it was my first usage of revenge in a needed situation.

i had a similar problem to you but as other posters had said, shield block % is vital, also invest in a blue high dps weapon with less enchantments preferable life or hit or a socket, thats what i did to keep my dps decent despite losing a lot of strength on other equipment to get resist vit and armor
also the WoTB and EQ combo is very good at killing elites that dont have teleport and/or shielding (although it makes you feel useless until the coolddowns are up)

The sword I wanted is at 15mil and climbing T_T sigh at people that keep bidding.

i just made it past act 2 inferno and my damage needs a serious upgrade, it took me forever to kill belial
im currently at 9k damage with a 700+ 1 hander, how much do I have to spend on a weapon that can get me past act 4?
|
10mil + if you want a weapon with stats or 1.1k DPS.
800-900 DPS weapons I've seen for around 3mil.

Is a shield mandatory for Inferno or can you do it with a 2h?
(I was always a fan of 2h weapons, in every game)

(I was always a fan of 2h weapons, in every game) 2H can progress in Inferno, but has somewhat higher gear demands.
You are likely to have an easier time progressing if you play with Seismic Slam/Weapon Throw builds in mind, rather than attempting to play an in-your-face melee build. Shield has a distinct advantage for that.

I dabbled with dread bomb for a bit but never got into weapon throw.
What's a good build?

What's a good build? frenzy, seismic with cost reduce, battle rage with fury gain, leap with iron impact, war cry with resist, wotb/eq should work

800-900 DPS weapons I've seen for around 3mil. I got a 920 dps weapon for 1.4 mil a few days ago. No stats though.

I'm trying 2handed inferno as well. Hit the first wall on the rare packs before Butcher. Only way I can kill em is wotb+ignore pain but only if they don't have shielding or extra health tags. If they do it's a no go. So, I'm farming sk. lol

Just bought my 810 DPS 1hander for 130k. There are loads and loads of 800+ DPS for under 200k on the AH right now.
|
Just tested it with a new shield (300 more armor and 25% block,~4k block amount), doesn't change anything. If anything, it feels like it's gotten worse because this cost me about 100 resall and also 3k or so hp, and also some damage.
I guess I just have to farm Act 1 some more and buy better equipment. Probably getting resall back up to 800 or something together with more block% that I now have should make it a bit better.
