On April 10 2012 14:04 SaintBadger wrote: Sign me up, please. I work in conservative political campaigns (hate me if you like) at state and national levels. I've fought a number of battles on affirmative action policies in hiring and education. It is refreshing to be reminded that when you exclude the politics of teams and invite-only events and get down to the game itself, SC2 is the purest form of meritocracy. In other arenas, you see a person of a minority race, or a person who openly lives a lifestyle differing from the "norm", and a fair question arises as to whether that person attained his or her station purely through merit or partially on consideration of this innate quality. SC2 does not suffer this problem. Scarlett has the rare opportunity to represent and inspire those like her and those who admire her while secure in the knowledge that her gender issues have nothing to do with her accomplishment. I am proud to be a part of a community that creates that unique set of circumstances. On a brief aside, I know conservatives are often grouped with certain religious zealots who choose to pander by attacking certain lifestyles. I find it amusing that Jerry Falwell and Lady Gaga have very different notions of what it means to say "God makes no mistakes". I work very hard to drag the more archaic elements in my political party into the 21st century. The truth of the matter is that pure conservatives have nothing negative to say about the choice, or perhaps necessity, of taking steps to live one's life as a different gender than biological sex would suggest. As a person who makes a living crafting public images, I was impressed and encouraged with the minimalist way in which Scarlett addressed the gender issue, as well as the remarkable singlemindedness with which she has NOT addressed it subsequently. For whatever my expertise is worth, she has handled the public side of this flawlessly. I'm sure there will be many people clamoring for interviews, quotes, etc. in future LAN events. I would simply encourage Scarlett to remember that while gender may have added a small amount to the original hype, there is nothing but talent that will sustain it. A while back I donated $1000 in Day [9]'s name to InControl's Rumble in the Bronze, and I wrote him today (hoping my shameless plug of him would earn me some reading time) urging that if he did mention Scarlett on the daily, he should not dwell on the gender issues. It's not that these things aren't important, but it will be so easy over the next few months to materially hurt Scarlett's pro prospects by pigeon-holing her as "the gamer girl" or "the LGBT rep". The signs point to her being a legitimate foreign hope. Those caveats which lend themselves so well to the, "she's good for a girl" mentality can do damage to a long-term career. With the highest respect. /salute TL;DR: Don't let Scarlett get archtyped as "the gamer girl". Keep the focus on play. Thank you for this.. Well expressed and heart warming!

Just find the optimal amount of practice time you feel best with, some need a lot, some like Stephano can manage with less. im a mix of different European ethnicities ; but i am Ukrainian more than anything else OMG Girl! http://feeds.feedburner.com/State-of-the-Game Update: Oh well as you'd hope, it is very favorable to Scarlett, and they say good things about the maturity of the sc2 community too which is pretty cool to hear. Segment proper at the very start, and a second brief mention of her at around 7 minutes from the end of the cast. Update to the Update: Now available on iTunes as well q.v. State of the Game podcast.

I just feel like you woke up one day and went, I think I'll play this game called Starcraft, wandered into IPL 4 and just started wrecking people. Aka, can we get a little biography of your Starcraft 2 career up until IPL 4? hmmm... short summary (turned out a little long actually!) : ~ i started playing near beginning of april 2011 (though had played most of campaign (brutal all achievements ! :D) before that) ~ got into master league with 7pool/6pool/3RR in 1-2weeks ~ started watching zerg streams and practicing very macro oriented play ~ played my first GM player and beat them early june 2011 ~ got placed in GM when season 3 started (~july 2011) ~ after this i started playing 1s very on and off staying around low GM almost dropping out for too high bonus pool ~ started playing more on another account and got it convincingly promoted to GM mid-season (during season 4 i think) ~ slowly improved and topped out at rank 30-40 GM before stop playing sc2 in late november ~ played dota\did war3 modding from then till late february and only played sc2 very very rarely during this time ~ watched a bunch of stephano vods and changed my playstyles/improved them a lot and got into GM mid-season ahead of several pros also laddering a bunch on NA ~ improved very quickly getting to rank 2 GM in a few weeks ~ around here i played playhem tournament (had almost a 40 win streak on ladder spread over 2 accounts here) ~ started playing a bunch of ZvT with keydMaker (high GM terran with very good record) to prepare for ipl as well as a few ZvZs with NMxHendralsk and cvgSasquatch (my ZvT got incredibly strong after this ; which is why i was confident vs DeMuslim ~ you can see here what hendralsk, who watched many of my ZvT practice games said: ) + Show Spoiler + QUOTE]On April 07 2012 11:56 HenryZ wrote: On April 07 2012 11:55 Bibbit wrote: Show nested quote + On April 07 2012 11:47 SamsLiST wrote: In the interview she said zVT is her best mu - so there is small chance vs Demuslim ZvZ afterwards though If she 1-2 vs Oz and her ZvT is stronger than her TvZ, I think she's got a pretty bloody good chance of beating Demuslim. I'm a bit hesitant to call her a favourite since I've never actually seen her TvZ, but I'll certainly be far from shocked if she wins. Good luck demuslim is all I gotta say ( Now iPL4 ! ) ~ was not too confident going into games vs teriousprime but he played aggressive (but not all-in) ling bling every game and i defended it well (as that is what every zerg does every game it feels like on NA ladder ><); putting me at large advantage game 1 (cloud kingdom) i did a silly attack up ramp into his 3rd where he had infestor spine and lost my big advantage puttign me slightly behind ; then lost roach infestor vs roach infestor game 2 (antiga shipyard) i was so far ahead i took an earlier 3rd and pressured with a bit of roach ling bling while getting +1/lair and he just died to it game 3 (taldarim altar) was a very very long ling bling vs ling bling war (because of map); but i microed better overall and slowly pulled ahead until he had to GG when i got 2 good bling hits in his main drone line (i also lost like 5 drones to 2 lings while i wasnt paying attention to main this game) ~ against ddoro i was told he plays very aggressive 2 base all ins - but my 2 base all in defense is very solid and i have pretty good zvp opening so i took the series convincingly vs super early stalker blink all in (no sentry/obs/zealot) and against early 6-8gate im not sure (but somehow my intuition told me this coming and i made roach warren much earlier than i usually do so defended it quite well ;; after all ins i was too far ahead and he just died to roach ling On April 10 2012 14:50 corpuscle wrote: I was bored and felt like wishlist shopping, so I came up with a potential rig for Scarlett on Newegg! Here's the list: ASUS HD7770 Radeon HD x2 Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB 240-pin DDR3 1600 x2 (upgrading to 16 GB RAM costs $50 more, but may be worth it) ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z LGA 1155 Intel Z68 Micro ATX Intel core i7-2600 Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8 Turbo Boost) Things that can be tweaked (but are still obviously necessary!): Seagate Barracuda Green HDD 1.5 TB 6.0 Gb/s Internal ASUS DVD-ROM Drive Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 + case combo edit because I hit "post" too early! total price is $1066.90 USD not including shipping. This rig will stream SC2 on Ultra no problem, the processor is TheGunRun certified, video cards are no problem in dual-SLI, and everything else is frankly irrelevant streaming-wise. If you want more HDD space it's fairly easy to replace the hard drive I recommended, it doesn't matter what HDD you use, really. I'd also recommend an SSD (solid state drive) for faster boot times, but that's kind of a luxury expense, so I'm not gonna include it. thanks so much ! thats fairly cheap for such an amazing computer o.o (last time i put together a computer was with my dad when i was 9) On April 10 2012 17:54 clayn wrote: Seems like a lot of people would like her doing an AMA? ^^ i pretty much am doing one i think (though here instead of reddit ~) On April 10 2012 18:51 chocopan wrote: Just listening to the State of the Game from PAX East and Scarlett was their first topic pretty much!
