I like just about everything from ecchi harem shit to scream louder to power up my attack shit to I have no fucking clue what's going on and I like it shit
Only show I've hated with a passion is evangelion, tried way too hard to be so much more than it was and just came off as trash
For Fate/Zero do I have to watch Fate/Stay first or is it stand alone?
Try Mirai Nikki, Guilty Crown (with CAUTION), Black Rock Shooter, and Rinne no Lagrange if you want to watch an on-going show. BRS just started, but from the OVA I sense it's going to be pretty good. Rinne no Lagrange also seems promising and only had a few episodes so far. Also Fate/Zero will have a second cur in April, that's something to consider as well if you don't mind catching up with 12 episodes by April.
Otherwise, the most recently aired good is probably Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. Stein;gate is also very good.
For Fate/Zero, you do NOT have to watch FSN first, but by doing so you will be spoiled of pretty much everything of FSN - especially the Fate arc in FSN. Also you may find it frustrating about some of the Fate franchise's terminologies - because most of them are in FSN and only lightly introduced in F/Z.

Preferable shows that have completed I fucking hate having to wait a week for the next episode after a cliff hanger
Koe de Oshigoto. Only 2 OVA eps yet. No commitment to give it a try.

the music is the only redeemable thing it has the rest is bad and not worth watching, well actually the story isn't AWFUL but it's not anything worth writing home about. It barely passes as a plot and for the most part is pretty meh.

omg I love fansubbers who offer direct download with 5mbs+
GC? Watch with caution. I think one of the reasons people are complaining about this show is that it was WAY TOO HYPED before it started airing (because it was written by people who also wrote Code Geass). I do not think the show is that bad, but some people will disagree with me on this.

Hmm, most shows that are must watch, at least for me, are almost all sequels (Nisemonogatari, Amagami SS, lots of other sequels too but not exactly a must watch).
Guilty Crown is a bit past it's halfway point, so you might not have to wait too long depending on how fast you go through the current episodes. The series doesn't exactly head off to a good start, and it's got it's share of bleh episodes, but recently it's been really good.
Comedy wise, Daily High School Boys has been absolutely hilarious. Sure, Sent will say it sounds gay, and some of the shit they do looks that way too, but it's still hilarious nonetheless. However it's currently airing so there's only around 4 episodes, but there aren't exactly any cliff hangers to expect from it.
Stuff from last season, Fate Zero for sure. As others said, you don't need to have read/watched FSN, but there are definitely terms used in Fate Zero that they assume the viewer to have known from FSN. They explain it a little, but not as much detail as in FSN. But it's way better than FSN.
Steins;gate finished last summer, and it was really good. A good sci-fi/suspense/time-travel anime. The main character is hilarious.
Bento from last season was awesome too. Here is one blog's description of it: "So think Dragonball Tournaments, but held in a supermarket, where the prize is a half-off bento. Now you’ve got the gist of this aptly named anime, “Ben-to.“" Sums it up pretty well, and the characters are funny as hell too.

Ben-to was a extremely well done anime in terms of parodies. And the artwork is awesome too, even the fight scenes were well done. Plot-wise its meh, but the characters are easily likeable.

Yeah, I agree, GC is alot better than the shit people give it. "Written by the people who also wrote Code Geass" is a negative in my book, which might explain my expectations for the show, but I'm enjoying it. Its not like its great or anything, but its a solid watch IMO, although predictable and generic from time to time.
Categorized as Yuri and the setting is set around a world where people are borned with special power. The more powerful your power, the more social status and political power you have and the main girl can control bananas....yup....all I needed to hear was Bananas and Yuri and it sounded more then interesting enough.
I dont think anyones really giving GC too much shit. I think most people think its "not bad", unless they were expecting to be blown away or something which is rather naive. Im not a huge fan of supercell or anything either. I dont mind Generic as long as its flashy and the fluff is good enough to look at even if I am at times tempted to skip through parts. I wouldnt call it recommendation worthy thought.
