To the contrary, I made it clear that our play was not of high quality (hence the "it wasn't particularly good"). But you say that mafia tends to win by doing nothing and relies on town to kill themselves, and this game was nothing like this. I say that TL scumteams are bad and that's how they win...by town being worse. And you assert that I ignored the fact that you and Jay were active. I didn't ignore that fact, I just don't care, because it means nothing if you're active. I never once asserted anything about the activity of scumteams. Scumteams on TL don't generally by scum being good. In this game, there was no change in scum play. It was merely a change in town play. Both of these things are bad for the situation of scum. That was my point; scum play needs to improve. Town play needs to improve as well, and I think it is. (although the normals are no indication of that)

Id really like to see a scum team actually engineer and manufacture a win, through a solid game-long strategy though.

As a result, Id say most people are better at being town then scum, which is probably why scum play is lacking. Aaand yeah, I watched TL47 live and I have been keeping up with TL48. I think (from a semi-outsiders perspective) maybe people are getting too comfortable with the same players around here, so they try to get fancy, and it just leads to chaos. A good injection of fresh faces (like Student Mafia!) may solve that.

So what is good scum play? What should scum do? Can you provide some basic guidelines / tips for us newbies (who played or just followed the thread)?

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=132936 It should help you get started, but I really think we need more discussion in there.

Ace and BC can explain much better than I, IMO. When I play scum I mostly do whatever I want. It's just kinda free flowing. It's fun cause I feel like I'm trolling people when I look town lolol

Tunkeg played a lower key game and I wish he had contacted me before that slapfight with layabout got the point it did. I think that interchange is a great lesson that everyone in this game can pick up on about aggression, slapfights, and how those things really dont indicate alignment and how they can be used as tools (in the case of aggresion) or distractions (slapfights). Adam died right as he was starting to use me.

I had a blast coaching you. You utilized me to the fullest and were often times just needing small nudges to stay focused. Your willingness to utilize me made it very fun and easy to help you.

IT WAS MY FIRST TIME AS MEDIC EVER! Also, it is very debatable if it would have made any difference if sandroba had died instead of you day1. In QT you only considered wherebugsgo as scum for a brief period during day2 Maybe YOU should have made it more clear that you were interested in the game and that you were taking it seriously and that you were town? I think wherebugsgo played well in that game but I still like to think that town played a bigger role in their loss than he did. Anyway, I'll get out of your thread 'cause I didn't follow this game very closely, but I heard that everybody gave really solid performances. Kudos.

Hahahahahahha It's fine, just remember I'm awesome from now on. Your target pick was fine, and your reads were good, so, can't complain about your play that game.

Took a real ballsy approach to being a medic. He really stayed focused on scumhunting and was able to see past some things that normally distract from that. Tunkeg played a lower key game and I wish he had contacted me before that slapfight with layabout got the point it did. Adam died right as he was starting to use me. Thanks for caching man, and sorry for beeing such a bad student. I regret not using you more through out the entire game. In retrospect I should have run both the xsksc case and the probability lynch by you as well, and then I could have avoided them entirely . The entire bash with layabout was just completely silly, and was probably the single worst play of the game... Funny that you were BH's coach seeing the last pm I sent to you before the game ended
