To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |
So, this is my first post in this thread. I've lurked around on occasion looking for some good music, but i've been afraid of posting, because I feared for coming across like a complete newbie. Which, in the field of kpop, I most certainly am. Basically, so far i've just kind of taken the few names of groups that I know, searched it on grooveshark and explored.
I think i'm a little more familiar with kpop now, I can at least recognize names and groups, etc.
This probably sounds odd and somewhat out of place, but I'm in fucking love with Super Junior. And all of their songs. Like, all of them. So, if any of you have any suggestions based purely off of that, then bring it to me. I also like quite a bit of 2NE1, SNSD, and IU. But those are givens to me.
I have attempted to approach your sub-community with the utmost of humbleness and respect, KMD'ers, and I pray that I have succeeded. I can assure you, I am more afraid of you then you are of me.

For boygroups the only good groups that are even similar to Suju would be Beast and Infinite. Because you like 2NE1 you're probably gonna like Big Bang as well.
+ Show Spoiler [Beast] + + Show Spoiler [Infinite] + + Show Spoiler [Big Bang] + + Show Spoiler [Misc] + You should probably check out DBSK, especially from the time they were 5.

Just gonna go ahead and leave this picture of Yoona here + Show Spoiler +
Seconded on TVXQ. If you want to check out guy groups, they should be top of the list. I like Mirotic, Love in the Ice, Bolero, Purple Line, Keep Your Head Down, B.U.T.
edit: Rising Sun too, how could I forget that song.

Or this post ("unspoken rule" #2).
It seems like our wonderful sub-community is feared by quite a bunch of people, most of who don't even post (regularly) in here. I wanted to tell you that this perception is quite wrong - nobody's gonna hate on you for being a newbie if you actually take the time to follow the thread in order to avoid reposting and asking dumb questions. It's just that everyone is concerned with keeping this thread "clean" and stupidity by random passer-bys can thorougly ruin a veteran's mood. And in terms of opinions, everything is allowed. Just don't get overly angry at anyone for not agreeing with you, even when they phrase their objections kinda harshly.
tl;dr - no need to be afraid, we're nice people.

Thank you All I'd really seen of the KMD before this was Roffles wild ranting. Is it right that he's considered the rambling homeless person of the KMD sub-community? I once heard something like that.
Oh, and thanks to Maekju, Moonwrath and Left4cookies, loved all of your recommendations (particularly Beast, and although I knew that TVXQ was probably pretty good, I never took the time to listen to any of their stuff - Goddamn!)

Just realized Eunji was main vocal of A Pink with a super great voice... even more like Minah!

^Agree with this, everyone here had a first time. Much with TL I recommend you lurk abit before actually posting. Other than that the big thing that I would say new people should keep in mind is 2 general rules:
1. Spoiler your shit. It's an image heavy/vid heavy thread and no one wants to see 10 pics in a row, even if 10 pics are of hot korean woman. When quoting images, spoil that too. No one needs to see the same thing again if it was posted just 2 posts up.
2. If it's more than a day old and by anyone even the slightest bit popular, don't bother posting. It has been posted already. This goes for remixes and parodies as well as actual songs. The exception is if you post something less popular, like Korean rap/rock/Indie, because even if it's a repost there are enough new people here/so little discussion about it that it's worth posting again.
edit- ya'll post too fast, this is referring to Spekulatus (sp)'s post.
edit- Roffles and Kentor (whenever he decides to pop up) are the haters or realists of the thread. Basically while everyone here mainly just posts about what they like, Roffles and Kentor mainly pop up to stem the tide of adoring posts. So if the topic has been about, say, SNSD for 3 pages, they like to show up and tell us why they're all ugly and unlovable. And recently Roffles may have taken it a bit too far, as anyone who follows the automated ban list knows.

How do you pronounce "Qri?"
Having a debate on whether you just say "Q R I," "Cry." or "Kree."

You know, that's the weird thing, I'm much more likely to go insane and post 10 unspoilered images of Suju than I am of any female kpop artist. The only explanation I can offer as to why comes in the form of a quote:
"Gah asian guys are cute and its weiiird for me." -Probe1
|
edit- while personally I think alot of Suju's promo tracks are the same, I liked Superman from the latest alot. Think that Bonamana and sorry sorry are basically the same song. Was always more of a B2ST/Big Bang guy. But yeah most people posts girls cause they're straight/Unichan knows no one would care.

Guess we were all wrong, cheers! and the international fansite (tiaradiadem.com) lists the korean spelling of her name as 큐리, which (unless my nooby Korean skils fail me) would be romanized like "Kyuri".

^Kyuri would be the correct transcription.
You basically say Q-Ri, Q like you pronounce the letter "Q" or the word "queue" and then Ri as the "re" in "repeat". Without rolling the "r" too hard.
+ Show Spoiler [or just listen to her] +http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQsaRN1IFoA It's in the third sentence.

^ correct. I always thought of it as Kyuri.
Whoa, she grew prettier And I guess she's always been quite the slow member of them all ^^

Any thread long enough suffers from the "I'm a veteran you suck" problem, that's just how things work, here it's not all that bad I thought actually. But we do suffer, consider this example, it takes half a second to write "Naeun" under a picture of Naeun so that people who don't recognize her now know who it is. For every person asking in the thread "who's that girl??" there's probably ten lurkers/unregistered etc who don't ask. It's been mentioned before but a lot of the time we still don't put names under pictures, we're too elite.
