Seriously, fuck Halloween.
Every year I get to this point and remember I hate October/November and everything about them.
-It's starting to get cold on a daily basis and it feels like the sun never comes out. -It's raining and/or snowing every other day but it's just wet... there's never enough snow to actually stay there and make it brighter in the dark and turn the constantly terrible temperature to something nicer like in December/January. -It's starting that cycle where it's dark when I wake up and when I get home... but as mentioned earlier there's no snow there to brighten the world up so it's literally just dark. -Overall, it just sucks the energy out of me and makes everything seem shittier.
And what do we have in the middle of this awful period of the year? Halloween.
When the whole world feels like it's slowly getting worse in every possible way, you throw in a celebration of horror. I guess it makes sense, but I still hate it. But for me, it's just the last straw really. As a kid you get to go outside in the terrible weather and go house to house begging for candy; not bad. But as an adult there's no upside. I mean, there are the parties where chicks dress up as slutty versions of everything but I'm not much of a party guy and I'm getting older and bored of that crap.
Halloween is just there to remind you that you still have at least 1 more month of horrible weather to go before things stabilize.
Everyone seems to have that 1 movie they love to watch every Halloween. "Oh yeah I watch the original Halloween every year! Awesome!"
Me? I watch Home Alone or A Nightmare Before Christmas (usually both). Nothing better than a funny and cheerful movie when everything outside is terrible. I'm not one of those people that celebrate Christmas months in advance. Heck, I barely even celebrate it as it is. I don't decorate or buy gifts (too poor). All I do at Christmas is meet my family for a couple of days repeating the same conversations we had the year before because they always ask me the same questions.
I don't watch/listen to Christmas movies/songs to get in the holiday spirit... except on Halloween.
Halloween should be moved to June or something. Nothing really happens in June; it has nice weather at least. We could enjoy the holiday more than having it in the most depressing part of the year.
But as it is, Halloween is pretty much the worst day of the year, in the worst possible spot in the calendar.
Can't wait for December.
P.S : Ever realized how nothing amazing ever happened to you in November? You know it's true. Terrible weather brings about terrible times.

Move to a country where they don't celebrate it.

I love Winter. It's my favorite season by miles, much more fun than Summer. But Autumn?
I feel like going into a 2-3 month coma every year.

I live in Canada. I like winter. I like autumn. I hate Halloween. My birthday is on October 31st. People seem to lose their minds on Halloween for some reason and it's really, really annoying.

The hell? I've got a November birthday and it's a great time of the year for a birthday.
Weather kinda sucks though; odd that yesterday was the first snow in October since the 70's in this area.

Though judging from the overall pessimism in the Skyrim thread to most people it is probably the worst blight to ever be cast upon mankind.

I don't see how you can possibly call +0 degrees cold. On a related note Fuck Manitoba

I'll probably play Skyrim but it's not an amazing thing for me... just not my type of game.
I'm holding out for Diablo 3.

But...why? I don't understand you. I like hot weather (although not the incredibly humid one we have here) and I like cold weather. But when it's switching and everything is just wet... I can't stand it.

Amazing things happen to me in November.
Like my birthday. And turkey. And Christmas tree hunting.
|
On the whole birthday thing, since people are bringing them up, I don't really consider them too special.
I haven't celebrated my own birthday since I was like 14... it's just another day in December for me. Heck, last year I actually forgot it was my birthday until the next day and I was like "Oh, I'm 23 now."
But yeah obviously the nothing special in November thing was a joke... it's still the worst month of the year for me, every single year.

WELL CLEARLY YOUR BIRTHDAY WOULD BE MORE AMAZING WITH CAKE.
No seriously, it's your own fault if you don't have a good time in November. You could get hot-chocolate with big fat marshmallows and sit inside and play starcraft if you don't want to go out. :D

Black Friday !!! :D

Why not be a ghost and go to a halloween party?
Dress up in a black stealth suit, wear night vision goggles, and carry an overpowered sniper rifle. I promise you that you will scare everyone you come across that has even heard about Starcraft 2.
