I have the largest city in my 7x7 box and all the top cities around me are either romans or gauls. No-one has raided me, but I'm thinking of raiding the 2nd and 3rd most populated cities when I have a decent army.
Fields now are at 3332-2222-2211-333222, I think my first week is going quite well

How do you scout? I have a few Equites Legati.
And I have a few Imperians. Was it worth it to get them?

Send the scouts on attack(either normal or raid) and you'll see the scout option.
I don't have imperians right now because horses are better for raiding. But later on Imperians is about the only troop romans make.

death link.. for you to have fields that size,( i take it u mean that your total resources are that size).. anyways.. in ONE WEEK.. your BSING.. unless u have been on this 24/7 and raiding every 10 minutes.. and i still doubt u have that much

You scout like you would do a raid. Send your Equites Legati on a raid. Once you click ok two options will appear that will ask you if you want to scout resources and troops or troops and defense fortifications; pick one and click ok.
got beat to it .

I honestly don't think it'd be worth it. Are you being raided very often? And by how strong of players?
If you're getting raided I would just keep your resources spent and keep your troops out of the village so they don't get KO'd. The raiders will see that they're not getting much from you and probably choose a different target.
Spearfighters are really awful for raiding. And your production levels are really low. Raiding is fun and all but it does dry up, and eventually you will need a strong backbone of self-sufficient resource production. Mine is up to 60-60-60-17 at about 80 population and I still don't plan on easing up on it for a long time.
That's all theoretical, btw. I think raiding will dry up and no longer be terribly productive, and those that invested heavily in their own production will end up ahead in the end, but maybe I'm wrong.
This game is so amazing. There's so much math and economics. You could actually benefit in this game from taking a few Economics courses at college... there's no other game like this. I'm really, really impressed by it.
Playing as teutons is kinda dangerous, because clubswingers are so weak at defense. Anyone can come during the night and wipe out your army. Spearfighters are important, but you don't need them yet. Anyway, if you stay big, chances are no one would dare attack you. I haven't even been scouted yet, much less attacked.
Determing whether you should upgrade resource fields or get more troops all depends on how active you are. The more times you can log on a day, the more troops you should get. The less times you can log on a day, the more you should focus on upgrading resource fields.
If you can log on 5 times a day, raiding is definitely the way to go. Sure, the 2 pop villages around you will soon dry up, but all you have to do is to expand your raiding range. Soon, there will be higher population inactives that have decent resource production for you to farm. The top players in this game basically just ignored resource fields (except crop), and pumped clubswingers 24/7 and lived off of raiding. Of course, those are the hardcore gamers who spend 10 hours a day on this game.
Also, you should only raid inactive villages, or villages without any troops. Attacking the people who you believe to be your competition is NOT a good idea. Don't think, "Oh, I'll just attack them while they're small and then I'll have no competition." That doesn't work, because active players can always build up more troops, and all you have done is hindered yourself. You only want to raid the inactives for quick profits at this time.
So anyway, if you can stay active, raiding will always be a LOT more productive than focusing on resource fields (until late game, but we're far from that). Don't completely ignore resource fields though. If you don't tech too fast, you should be able to do both decently. Which means, you don't need spearfighter tech anytime soon, and when you do get spearfighters and scouts, you don't need axefighters/cavalry immediately after that. I've been playing since this thread started, and I JUST got cavalry last night. Just focus on massing clubswingers and upgrading some resource fields.
Chris, if you're interested in doing some of the math/economics, can you figure out when's the best time for me to get a flour mill in a 15 crop village? =D

My field levels are now at 3332-2222-2221-333222 and production is at 54-36-32-0. I've been very active and just today I've gone raiding 10 times. If you dont believe me I'll assign you as a sitter so you can see

You can get to all lvl 3 fields in 8 days (maybe 9) without having to play 24/7. And definitely without raiding. You just have to not waste any money to build/upgrade any unnecessary buildings.
And upgrading rally point allows you to target buildings with catapults. You also need a lvl 10 rally point for some other buildings.

I'm considering building a tournament ground sooner or later, to expand raiding range and also helps troop movement.
For the 15 crop village, you should up mill with crop production around 240, maybe lower, because for these villages crop is a cheap resource compared to other resources used to upgrade crop fields.

Works for me. Maybe you have to be in TL.net1 to see them. Try logging into Travian first also.

It's most likely alliance-only view. Or else you can type in random number for reports and come across anyone's reports.
But I'll take it that he raped a shitload of clubbers. ;o

Just send your troops off to a low-population destination that's 10 hours round trip while you're sleeping.
No dead Clubswingers.
