Also, keep in mind that "MC" was once the "best" player. Now he's not even in code A. Anythings possible. Don't be so close minded and annoying. Are you seriously arguing that Stephano who won IPL3 is ahead of Nestea who won GSL multiple times? Even qualifying for code A is harder than winning IPL. And yes, the foreigner scene is way way behind Korean scene, like it or not. Pick top 32 Korean players and top32 foreigners and let them play a tournament, double elimination format, I will be highly surprised if any foreigner could get in top10. Don't be stupid.. in a actual GSL qualifier you only have to win like 5 BO3 vs korean code B or some code s level! Stephano defeited alot more code S players in the qualifier plus the actual tournament. So no it's not harder to win when there is 100K in prizes compared to a code s spot. Just let it go, he won fair and square. He was the best in this tournament and deserved it. Yes there are better players but in this weekend and out of those players he was the best! Would he win a GSL? we don't know but maybe he could. I agree he's a beast and he's the best player last weekend. But some people are way overhyping him it's ridiculous. We are rational people and should have the ability to think. I know he beat a bunch of Koreans ONLINE and 2 Koreans offline. Sorry, I still don't think he could win 5 BO3 in a row against Koreans. Maybe 1 out 10 times, but very unlikely. He beat 5 Koreans and lost to 1 at the offline event. What are you talking about? It took players like Bomber and DRG like 6 times to qualify. Players like MC and Byun are Code B. Well if you really believe Stephano is better than all of these people because he won an IPL, then fine I have nothing to say anymore. Anyways, he's going to MLG this weekend. You guys will understand what I'm talking about right now after MLG. I never said he was better I think he is on par with a lot of these great Koreans. He's not a Nestea yet but he has the potential to be that good, this kid only practices three hours a day and just rofl stomped his way to victory in the IPL stacked with decent low/mid/high tier Koreans. I just think people should give credit where credit is due. I'm so happy that finally someone is beating Koreans, i'm a little biased because I'm European/American and i'm tired of seeing Korean dominance, maybe i'm just weird.

I'm not saying he will win MLG or qualify for GSL. Stephano is very good and some people underestimated him before IPL3 even though there was a lot of hype, and now those same people continue to do so. I think that's why some people get upset about this.

This thread for the past 10+ pages has been absolutely ridiculous. Stephano, through the IPL has proven that he's a very solid player. Code A/S esque player with solid micro, tactics, and decision making. however, I just dont see how basing off the fact that he's beaten MMA online once, and the the fact that he's beaten theSTC and Lucky, solidly quantifies himself as a player a notch above the players like Nestea, MVP, DRG and even someone like Bomber.
Great, he's won a tournament, he played a solid game and won a tournament where there was several solid koreans in the mix..but just how do you blow it out of porportion to the point where you're comparing and them putting him ahead of players who's won multiple absolutely stacked tournaments who has shown consistency for a good + year now...
I understand there's hype...I also understand that he's a foreigner and of course, it's always nice to cheer for the foreigner as koreans have a tendency to take every tournament they seem to participate in but to stretch it that far..Just..*face palm*

What is this thread all about? (besides being a LR thread) Is it about Stephano? Or ist about EU vs USA ?
I can understand that it is annoying that French/Europeans are overhyping him and see him as the french version of Savior or Jaedong But why does it turn so many Americans so deeply against Stephano? Almost everytime I see posts hating on him, the poster is from the United States. Why hate on Stephano? He just won a tournament convincingly, where top foreigners like huk, idra, ret etc. lost to the koreans like in every tournament and is also really mannered. Don't hate on him because he is from Europe.

MC and Byun in code B doesn't mean that they won't be able to qualify for code A lol. He beat 5 (or 6 if we count Huk as korean) koreans offline, at IPL, by outclassing them about every game except against Inori where he was really close to losing. But yeah code A qualifiers can't be compared to an IPL run, because it can be WAY easier, or WAY harder, it's a bracket so all about luck : you can be against MC then Byun plus another protoss (Stephano seems to struggle more against protoss), or you can be against players he already beat. This is why qualify to code S from code B is very hard, but he can give a run for his money to quite enough code S players, since his ZvT is beastly and his ZvZ seems good enough to crush korean code B, and well his ZvP is a beat weaker but code S is only terran + zerg LOL.

I'm not trying to take anything away from his play. I could even say Stephano might very well be the best foreigner player. What I am saying is that saying he's Nestea MVP level because he won IPL3 is just ridiculous. People sometimes forget how insanely hard it is even qualifying for code A, not to mention winning code S multiple times. If the foreign starcraft scene wants to step up, the people in the community need to be a little bit smarter.
Beating a Korean doesn't make you that good. Beating several Koreans online and then 2 Koreans offline and win a big tournament might be really impressive, but it still doesn't tell how much he can do in GSL. Stephano is a beast, but he's at best high Code A level. Why? Because at the moment I don't see him place top3 at MLG or go through code A and up/down matches to get in code S(These are the only two ways to get you to code S as far as I know). If he cannot get in Code S, he's not Code S. He's not automatically Code S just because you think he is.
Again, is he the best foreigner right now? Very likely. Is he Code S level? Not yet. Is he Nestea/MVP/Bomber/DRG level? No. He's still levels below.

I think it's a combination of some people feeling he's overhyped (and a consequent reaction against him), and the fact that many people don't like what he did with Col / Mill.
Nonetheless, congratulations to him for crushing his way through the tournament. I for one certainly didn't think he'd win it when I saw who was playing the tournament.

You do got a point I think the last 20 pages does seem to be more about EU vs NA then Stephano. I dont know why the NA dont like stephano that much. Maybe becuase he is from EU?.
Abit silly really
However when that is said I do like the competition between the continents I think its good for the sport as a hole. Ofcourse plain hating and downplaying a player´s achievement should be left out.
What Stephano did was very impressive and the EU hype was well justified.

People like you are a pest. Here's some advice: Get some maturity. Seriously, GTFO unless your answering my question.
This was what people said in the Stephano ladder run thread before IPL3. They said stuff like; "Yes it's not bad to go 64-1 on ladder, but any pro player can do that if they want to. Stop hyping Stephano, you will see at IPL3 when he gets crushed" I'm not saying he will win MLG or qualify for GSL. Stephano is very good and some people underestimated him before IPL3 even though there was a lot of hype, and now those same people continue to do so. I think that's why some people get upset about this. Go back a few pages and read what Liquid Jinro wrote about Stephano I doubt you can find a better person to judge if a player is code S or not. So you believe he's high Code S level like Jinro said even though he cannot get in code S? All right.
When the highest placed foreigner ever "2 times semifinalist" in GSL says someone is code s then he is code s. And really people like you dissing Jinro just becuase he aint in GSL is pretty pathetic. MC isnt in Code S aswell is he bad also?
The skill cap from Code B to Code S isnt that high aperently and when a professional starcraft 2 player that lives and train with the best in korea takes his time to write what he thinks it would be rude and pretty dumb from you side to try to make an argument about it.

Hey all, it's great to see how active the LR threads were IPL 3! I tried my best to keep current on them backstage at IPL3 to give updates and feedback to our production staff, and have caught up a little bit since, and I really appreciate all of the feedback from everyone! I will be asking for your compiled feedback in a bit when I actually can do something besides sleep, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't hold back with any opinions when I do in the interest of making future events even better. I hope you all enjoyed our first live event!
Thanks again!

I understand there's hype...I also understand that he's a foreigner and of course, it's always nice to cheer for the foreigner as koreans have a tendency to take every tournament they seem to participate in but to stretch it that far..Just..*face palm* Stephano beat a ton of ridiculously good opponents. He can definitely beat code S players as he has shown. Moreover your comparison to korean players is a joke. You cant put Nestea and MVP in a bracket with other players. They're in a league of their own. MVP NESTEA (GOD class). Stephano is not at their level imo just because he hasn't practiced and played against them. The fact that Nestea and MVP can practice against each other is what makes them so dominant. They're the perfect practice partners. However, Stephano can stomp every single one of the other code S players at the moment as he has shown. moreover you can't compare consistency throughout a year because sc2 is changing constantly and players change constantly. At the moment Stephano is top 5 sc2 players in the world for sure.

Hi, I'm trying to find the VOD of Idra vs. Thorzain without spoiling it for myself so I don't want to look through this thread. The only day4 VODs I could find are the finals and stephano vs. thestc. Can anyone post a link to Idra vs. Thorzain?

http://www.justin.tv/ignproleague/b/297059877 starts at 24 minutes. the VODs seem to have gotten a little screwy for some reason, so don't worry about the day 3 at the top of the page.

Wow..you are illiterate. I thought I mistyped something and re-reading my post..all I can say is wow...
First off....You're stating I cant put Nestea and MVP next to players like Bomber, and DRG? Hmm...Let's see..DRG...an incredible starleague player, proven solid code S player, ace player for his team, has proven himself against the likes of Nestea, MVP and bomber before...and I'm sorry, I guess according to your logic, associating DRG with Nestea/MVP is unthinkable.
Case Point #2. Bomber. Former MLG Champion, extremely solid terran player. Constant Code A/S player, always goes deep in the tournaments. Regular Starleague player, incredible TvZ and TvT..hmm...I'm sorry I guess compared to Nestea/MVP, bomber is clearly a platinum-esque player who is undeserving to be put in the same title as them.
And just incase youre going to bring up theSTC and Lucky? Read my post again, because clearly you have reading + understanding issues because I was using them as a example to prove why Stephano beating those players does NOT qualify him to be on the same level as those 4.
Stephano is a top 5 sc2 player right now? What are you basing that off of? I'm assuming you're a fanboy for sure....but what? I suppose winning one decently competitive tournament automatically puts you as a top 5 in sc2? Oh look how Curious won Code A, I guess that should mean he's automatically a top 5 sc2 player by your logic. And I just love how you end up that little statement with "FOR SURE" with absolutely no basis argument or strong evidence to support your point. This kid..lol
And...Last point you make about consistency...This is the funniest part about your post. I'm stating that Nestea/MVP/Bomber/DRG are on another level because they've shown consistency and adapted to the ever changing sc2 game and has remained on top the entire time. Of course I can make a argument about consistency..it's a fact...Rofl
I guess for BW sake, a similar analogy would be myself stating "FLash/Jaedong/Bisu have shown continuously consistency and been a top level player so there's at another level" and then youre coming in and going "NO YOU CANT MAKE THAT POINT BECAUSE SCBW IS A GAME WHERE THE METAGAME CONSTANTLY CHANGING!"
