Ever since I started playing Zerg, I have won and lost my share of battles against all three races using the 7 RR. It took me about 100 matches or so to finally get bored of it and decided to go for something a more standard. I was initially going for a Hatchery First approach but then I decided I should go for a 14 hatch 15 pool opener. And that opener has hardly ever let me down just yet, except in ZvZ since it usually leaves more open for aggression. :/
Speaking of ZvZ, I heard the 14 Gas 14 Pool is a decent opener in ZvZ, but I usually lost my battles that way, so I might need to go for something a bit more aggressive like the 10 Pool. It's helped me out at times especially against 6 Pool players though I still need to learn how to react and work on expansion timings after that.
On a different note, I think it's high time I changed how I assigned my hotkeys to make sure I can macro a little efficiently. It's not very easy assigning one hotkey per hatchery anymore especially since I have a lot of trouble in terms of response when pressing a couple of keys here and there. I might assign one Queen per hotkey though, but I heard of the Minimap trick and I have yet to see people actually apply this during the ladder. Might need to try that out sometime.

14gas 14pool is one of the "safer" builds to ZvZ (balanced army/eco) but in my experience still dies to 8pool spine + drone pull and 10gas 10pool speed... 10pool is a really strong opener, but dies if defended... it really depends on what you're more comfortable with. As you face better and better players, you'll find that they opt for stronger midgame play rather than speedling / baneling shenanigans. ^^
Not sure why you would do 14hatch 15pool over 15hatch 15pool... I still use individual hotkeys for hatcheries (BW habit) but I add one hotkey that has all the hatches

If I am against Terran or Protoss, I really wanted to find out what my opponent is doing ASAP and at the same time apply a bit of resistance if I can with the initial Zerglings.
