Also, games that I win tend to have a lower SQ than games that I lose. I wonder what that means.

Only to find that my SQ is 79 and I am only in Platinum... There must be something I am doing very horribly that I am still unaware of hmmm. My personal SC aside, this Macro research is not only brilliant but one of the most intelligent posts I've seen on TL since I've been here. It's people like you that make this community great.

Anyway, awesome to read! very awesome indeed, seems like im capable off pulling off games around 90, while still having other games with 54 ^^ so just need to focus on the mistakes i do in those low games, and compare. Hopefully hitting diamond with this method! ♥

I ended up with a 64.5, pretty much right on the Diamond level found here... and I also find it very accurate in determining whether I won the game or not. The one thing I did find odd though was that in the 40 games I looked at so far, there's no correlation in the SQ for a game and whether or not I won or lost the game. My Average on Lost games was 64.4 and Won games 64.6 I was kind of hoping I'd see something like 'Oh, look I was a 47 this game, so I lost' but that wasn't the case. Still, it seems like a good metric to gauge improvement.

The OP insinuates that Idra is not as good a macro player as is blatantly obvious from his tournament records and replays. Which is quite misleading indeed. I don't like mud being thrown on any progamers play style. I have no idea what you are talking about. Nowhere did I insinuate that IdrA is not a good macro player. On the contrary, I emphasized that he has an extremely high SQ score, and that he is renowned for his macro skills. I suggest you take the time to read the article properly, and focus on making better quality posts in future.

He definitely misread or misinterpreted what you said, but I don't think the quality of his post was lacking. He gave more interesting information ("20 games of his that were over 10min gave me an average of 99 SQ").

But i still keep wondering why one would pick the first constant to be 0.00137 instead of 0.001337... the numbers would be slightly different but the whole thing even more 1337...

This reflects well in my gameplay - I often lose to all-ins due to lack of scouting, or simply being suprised by a unit combination that I was unprepared for. So this helps me - I know I can focus slightly less on my econ, and slightly more on awareness of my opponents. Also, games that I win tend to have a lower SQ than games that I lose. I wonder what that means. This is me. My SQ is 68, which is well above my league average, but I tend to lose to scouting lapses, because it's my biggest weakness. Just goes to show the importance of scouting. I'll get there, just really focused on mechanics and macro right now. I'll take the scouting losses and move on.

And looking at the scale, I feel really great about myself after this game. Not sure if Blizzard's method of measuring APM has changed or not, but I was able to do it with around 60APM. If this SQ point scale is accurate, it just goes to show how incredibly important macro mechanics are. If not, well, I feel pretty good to have played with an SQ of Idra's for even just one game.
