Disclaimer: I am clueless about these things and since most retrogaming forums are not really that active (compared to TL.net anyway) I thought I should ask here as well.
I recently brought back from Japan a Neo Geo AES. It came complete with the Japanese AC adapter. My question is:
Do I need to get a stepdown transformer, basically to change the volt from UK to Japan? I believe that's 230v (UK) converted to 100v (Japan)?
I would appreciate some confirmation if someone knows as this beast was not cheap and I dont want to accidently fry it!

you either need
A. a UK to Japan plug adapter so you can plug in the Neo Geo's AC adapter
or
B. a UK AC adapter that outputs the same voltage and current as your Japanese adapter.
Take your AC adapter with you when you go to the store and get an employee to help you match it.

When I worked for cell phone shops we often got a lot of foreigner's coming in during the summer months. We started to carry the wall plug adapters for their chargers of their phones and vice versa. So try a cell phone store (maybe not a corporate store but just a cell phone place). They run from a buck to maybe 10, but I wouldn't pay more than 3$ because they cost nothing.

Best way is to buy an adapter in Japan meant for travel in the UK. If you have friends in Japan have one sent to you.
