Keep any SC2 vs BW comments out of this thread. This is a thread about Brood War and Esports (Tekken Crash, Special Forces, etc) in general. If you discuss what this means for ESPORTS be sensitive about it.

The President of Korean broadcaster MBC has offered to resign. Kim Jae-chul, who took over in March last year, submitted his letter of resignation to MBC's largest shareholder, the Foundation for Broadcast Culture##. Although the broadcaster said that Kim's decision came to pressure the Korea Communications Commission, which refused to approve a merger of two regional stations, some speculate that Kim stepped down to run in next year's general elections. So his resignation was probably just for show. http://www.mediaus.co.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=18818

Unless Flash and Jaedong are on the board, I don't see how this would be illegal (albeit very unpopular). Is there really no other large entity that can absorb the gaming infrastructure of MBC if this does go south?

Thing is we are all worried but we can't do anything except probably hoping that the pressure of the koreans fans are actually pushing mbc top executive to change into another direction which will benefit mbc game and not destroy our beloved msl and all other beloved e sports . That being said unless some one sneaks in as a spy and hears the board room meeting on the condition of the matter hand being discuss within the top exec until than we can only cross our fingers hope things goes our way.

If viewership numbers weren't in crisis, the rest of Kespa would likely do what they could to ensure MBCGame stayed in play - having only OGN to deal with as the broadcaster would hurt their bargaining position a ton and make it easier for OGN to squeeze more favorable terms for itself (and for CJ). But now... If pro BW ends this way, it's not a good sign for esports in general, TBH - since even the most anomalous "esport" would still have had a limited shelf life compared to other spectator sports.

MBC has announced that they’re preparing to launch a new music-dedicated cable channel by the beginning of 2012. MBC Plus Media has already recruited some of the biggest music PDs in the industry, including a number of Mnet’s main PDs. Not only has Mnet’s director Hong Soo Hyun jumped ship, but he’s been joined by PD Park Chan Wook and Kim Hyun Joong, both of whom are known for their extensive work with music programs and festivals. MBC Plus Media will be changing over their MBC Game channel to run exclusive musical content and productions. With the rising popularity of music programs like ‘I Am a Singer‘, ‘Immortal Song 2‘, ‘Birth of a Great Star‘, and ‘Superstar K‘, many are looking forward to seeing what MBC will be bringing to the table through a entire channel dedicated entirely to music. Considering the fact that Mnet has enjoyed the monopoly of music content on cable channels, the extra competition will surely boost the production and diversity of creative content. http://www.allkpop.com/2011/08/mbc-to-establish-their-own-music-cable-channel-next-year
