The 6670 which is roughly a $80 card doesn't even compete with a GTX 560 that's at roughly $190...

560 is a bit slower than the 6870, so its more comparable with that.

I don't understand why you're asking though since isn't pricing a huge indicator? Why would you price something that is better than a competitor's card for $100 less...?

There's more costs to overclocking than just the core i5 2500k. You also need a P67 or Z68 motherboard along with an aftermarket heatsink.

and btw, that first comp costs like 300-350$ more then if you built the compuuter yourself and buy components seperatly take the build just above, it's almost 300$ cheaper and has an SSD (but no OS i admit) and is the same then yours

For the custom computer i will be buying the parts myself, and i know someone to help me build it. 1. Just curious as to what the better deal is. Using this computer for standard gaming uses (SC2, CS:S, TF2, WOW, etc). You need to specify exact models for your custom builds. There are dozens of Gigabyte Z68 boards ranging from $100 to $400. You're either paying for a very high-end $200 motherboard you don't need or you are getting ripped off / haven't done any research. In the Dell, you're paying $100 extra for a processor that provides hyperthreading which is negligible in gaming performance. Here, you can see for yourself (note that 2600k is identical to a 2600 and 2500k is identical to a 2500 besides the unlocked multiplier which probably doesn't concern you): http://www.anandtech.com/show/4083/the-sandy-bridge-review-intel-core-i7-2600k-i5-2500k-core-i3-2100-tested/20 If gaming is your primary concern, this $100 should go to the graphics card such as in the first configuration. The power supply is not listed because it's some shit unit and the motherboard isn't listed because it usually doesn't matter in prebuilts.. Even with the monitor included and Windows, it's still overpriced at $1239... I don't see how you're getting discounts =\

Going from 12GB ram to 8GB doesn't mean anything. You'll rarely ever use > 4, if that. But you get a monitor....with a VGA attachment wtf? Eh, I guess if the monitor can go with a DVI connection and isn't only limited to a VGA connection, it is a slightly better deal? Although it would annoy me that I can't overclock the i7, so it will actually perform worse in games than the i5-2500k overclocked.

I'm not sure about your math or where you're getting the components for that custom build, but I'm adding up to around $1020. Also lol @ that Dell ... without the monitor, the price would be approximately the same as the prebuilt but that's with poor optimization, probably a mystery PSU, and that's at a 35% discount.
