Columbus had 28,621 posts and 2,369,688 views while Anaheim had 15,307 posts and 962,046 views, though you can add a few thousand to views and posts to Anaheim post-tournament. I liked this MLG more and thought it had a similar amount of hype as last, so such a huge difference is surprising and an interesting topic of discussion. Obviously we have no way to know the stream numbers, which is the actual important statistic, but about half the interest in the most popular of the three LR thread's is a pretty big indicator of something. Hopefully I'm way off or am missing something but based on the numbers it seems the viewers interest has died down some. Anyone have any other reasons to explain the disparity?

TvT is boring to me so I paid minimal attention after DRG lost

So many TvTs, EVO, no foreigners. Adds less interest to the tournament.

Ya, I usually dont leave my screen when MLG is on. But I personally dont enjoy watching koreans face stomp everyone else. Foreign fanboy for life.

I saw all koreans and turned the stream off, and haven't checked results.

I was at this MLG. Watched all the games avidly. But once we saw that the finals were going to be all Koreans, we left at 2 instead of staying until 7 to watch the games and saved a night at the hotel and drove home instead.

Well i think that people realized that the LR threads are pretty much people telling you what your watching with a few !!! added in. I also find them pretty annoying because they move so fast.

Personally I love sharing my enthusiasm for the games with other people when I can't have friends over in RL to watch the games.

MCMCMCMCMCMCMCMCMC I think it's obvious one of the reasons for this is the epic MCvsIdra that occured twice in a single tournament.
|
There was plenty of Korean roflstomping in the last MLG.
This one I think has more to do with the TvT's and less drama. The MC/Idra and the Idra/MMA drama-fests were probably the biggest differences.

Soon as I found out all the foreigners were eliminated I stopped watching.

Wow at those tweets, sick, forget all I said. Forgot about EVO and didn't think about the TvT's affecting things since I play Terran. Thinking about it now I'm sure if the finals had been better and no evo I'd think it'd be a pretty negligible difference in the LR. Pretty sick to think that we broke records this weekend with some pretty big factors taking away a lot of viewers. Gogo ESPORTS.

last MLG had a T Z P top 3, every race wanted to see who would win
This was MLGTVTVTVTVTVZ

Was Columbus the first time when Koreans really made a huge appearance at an MLG? It was probably more hyped for novelty.
I was at Columbus; I was on TL for Anaheim.

The finals weren't very good at the last MLG either. Back then, Losira had no clue how to play ZvT, and MMA just rolled him.

In Columbus people still honestly believed foreigners could beat Koreans.

The stories for Anaheim weren't as exciting as Columbus. Also Columbus was a redemption story, so you have a lot of hype around that.

watched up to the point where huk and naniwa were knocked out then switched off and went to bed

Meh, as a terran who loves TvT, I enjoyed most of the games, except the boxer game on meta where they just mirrored their armies until the map ran dry ~_~ Got kind of old seeing everyone go BF hellions every single game though.
