"Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."
It's fun to see what cool stuff you guys come up with and what you are able to do. I don't know how to use a program like that nor do I think I would be able to come up with an idea like that.
What I would like to contribute is an appeal for everyone to try and work together. Isn't the real goal here creating the final costume? Isn't the real challenge being able to work up to that final costume? The material prize is that one person gets a couple pieces of clothing, the real prize is the satisfaction of having created something amazing for thousands of people to enjoy.
I therefor think it's beneficial if those who judge or critique people's creations actually do so with the pursuit of these goals in mind and provide feedback to the designer or make "demands". Like which colors you dislike, what type of clothing is cool, if the logo is too big, you don't like the stripes, you think the circles are too thin.
Those kinds of things are probably far more valuable to those creating these costumes than saying it's cool, they can't do anything with that. But with honest feedback and critique as explained above, the designs can develop. They shouldn't be "just cool", or "has my vote", it should be the best it can be.
As for me, the only thing I had on my mind was to not just make space for the Razer logo but to look ahead in the future when more sponsor can surely be added in. When you put a big Razer logo on the sleeve, where would the additional sponsors be added? If you make it a smaller one then others can fit in later as well. Like in the form of a patch you can just stitch on for example. I guess you should try to dedicate an area on your design for that purpose. This is reasoned that doing it like that is acceptable and preferred over remaking everything. I honestly don't know how to look at that, because I can imagine there is something I have no clue about that makes it so you actually want to re manufacture the cloths when there is a new sponsor.
The other was just a personal preference. I greatly prefer the jacket style or a two or three piece. But especially the jacket part is very important. To give some an examples Slayers has the longsleave turtleneck then the blue shirt thing over that, and a blue puffy bomber jacket over that. oGs has the tracksuit, a black shiny jacket (parka it's called?) and now the new blue white design jersey type things. I don't know what IM had before but they did have those varsity jackets. fOu has the spacesuit ^_^.
Anyway a full package and some really prominent types of clothing is what I think suits the best. Best of luck to everyone who gets involved. Hope something truly amazing can be achieved.

None of these designs are usable in any of the forms people are posting because of this. Unless you were intending to take the winning design and get someone to try to copy it, which would be difficult if the design is detailed in any way.
I'd love to submit something for this but at the very minimum you need to give me:
1) Templates: You NEED appropriate templates for each piece of clothing in the design (in vector & raster form) This is obvious. Just as importantly, you NEED to include the Razer and FXO logo's in the same formats, or if don't have them, some kind of placeholder for them. 2) Acceptable formats You need to specify what you want: i.e- minimum of YYcm x ZZcm 300 dpi for a raster image or in appropriate vector format. Right now you have people scribbling with a pixel brush in paint which clearly isn't usable.
3) Some decent information. At the moment all you have said is needed is the 2 logos. All the designs right now are orange/black because this is the current theme for the kit. If you want this colour theme, say it. If you have no preference on colour, also say it (explicitly). Specifications > no specifications. I don't want to design a kit and find it completely disagrees with your intended vision (although you did say it would be chosen by the community which makes this less of an issue)
I concur.
I'd like to join the fray, but as it stands right now- I shall take a pass and wish FXO and the people taking part in this event the best of luck.

I haven't finished looking at all of them, and there are many good ones, but so far this one is the only one that really really impressed me. I'll edit if I find an even cooler one =) but this one is awesome! Good work Gizmo.

This would have to be my second favorite so far, but once again, I'm only on page 7! I'll read the last few pages and maybe edit again =).
Also, I really like the jacked CatZ made. The only thing I would change is to put the Razer logo on one shoulder rather then both. The other can either be blank or have the FXO logo or something.

This one is very good so far too! Definitely a contender for the best shirt along with the other two I quoted, but we'll have to see how the rest of it comes out =)
Edit: One suggestion for this third one; maybe adding a collar would be a good idea? I like the more casual t-shirt style but for some reason I see this shirt as being more formal and high quality looking, while something like Gizmo's and Loxley's look better as a t-shirt. I don't know if that makes sense to you... but maybe just see how it looks if you're interested, lol.

ye i also like loxley shirt :p

Gizmo's is overall the best imo. Rotegirte's shirt is also amazing and would be really good for an 'alternate' jersey (sort of like the white/black ones they have now).

So far Loxley's shirt design and Gizmo's everything else have my vote.
|
I'm not too fond of the arrows on Loxley's shirt, they seem out of place imo.

This looks respectable:
And this is downright sexy :D
I have a thing for black/grey + white + orange. Black and orange will look good, if you put some white in it will get more contrastive (and aggressive). White and orange isn't very practical, white gets dirty fast and you're talking about shirts for nerds! :D
And to the first try:
I actually like the sash (stripe). It's long enough for long names (longer than the width of your shoulders) and actually represents your rank in a sense, it's an identification .

How can i buy shares in FXO?
|
I don't really have time to work on this too much because I'm at work (so no replays either). I really think FXO should break the mold a little and use a baseball style shirt
Obviously this is just a template, no real work has been done and it needs all the sponsor logos still, just kind of a base design I wanted to throw out there for others who have more time to work on this atm

Some really awesome stuff's been posted. I've been playing around with photoshop brushing. Since I couldn't use a tablet the shadow etc. look...weird.

Uh wow this is very nice. Probably need a Razer logo instead of just the text ? I dunno.
So are gizmo's, rote's and adsfar. In fact most of the designs here are sick good.
Spoiled for choice we are it seems.

Good job keep it up guys I love it. Personally as a spectator I prefer jackets rather than shirts , also I prefer white/orange rather than black/orange. In any case these are all very well done.

Putting a big razer logo on the back to compensate. Once I have my tablet I can really start working thinks out.

Can people not see the problems arising already with the issues I have mentioned?
Gizmo's designs are fine. They may well be contenders to win the contest, but the design itself is significantly improved by the templates he has chosen to display the designs on, and people are both conciously and unconciously reacting to this fact. This is why you need consistant presentation throughout, so that each designed can be compared without bias to whatever fancy background or template is used.
On top of my other comments, another one which has sprung to mind is the colour limit. Almost every apparel project starts with an idea of what printing processes are within budget, often defined by the number of colours being used. It may be relevant that if FXO wants to print something like this in GOOD quality for: http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg17/xPloSiV01/shirt1.jpg
Then they will have to pay through the nose for it. Maybe there is no budget and thats fine, but I think its worth mentioning.
