My best friend studied abroad in Japan and confirmed this to me. Are you saying OP is unattractive & sweaty?
I believe OP says hes Asian. From my experience, the attractive Asians with good personalities got Japanese girls. Likewise, the attractive whites with good personalities also got the Japanese girls. I honestly didn't feel like being white was an automatic win at all.

Hope you have an awesome time I'll be there at end of Aug for a few weeks, let me know how it goes :D

you're telling me you could have gone to Kalafina and/or Miku concert on July 2nd and then leave the next morning!? silly Souma, you missed such a great opportunity.
It was nice to read the full background of your trip, and I hope you have an amazing time. I'll definitely be keeping up with this blog. If you get the chance, I'll love you forever if you do get me a Nana poster.

Another tip: If you want to play starcraft or other PC games in Japan, 99% of the cybercafes or oriented towards reading manga, relaxing, and (often) fapping. The Japanese prefer to game at the arcade. I highly recommend going to the arcades and learning the games. I learned to play beatmania IIDX when I was in Japan and it was highly rewarding and fun. The local arcade had three machines and there was quite a scene!
If you want to get your PC game fix, I recommend going to a Korean cybercafe which is a true PC bang. It's located in a district called Okubo: The train stop is called Okubo on the Chuo line and Shin Okubo on the Yamanote line. It's located on like the 3rd floor of a building. I forgot the name of it, so it might take some searching, but when I walked in there, the attendant only spoke korean and Japanese. Everyone inside was korean and was doing some hardcore raiding or playing some competitive game. It was quite a sight to behold since I have never seen anything like that in Japan. BTW Okubo is the korean district, located one train stop from Shinjuku.

Thanks for all the comments and advice! I'll definitely be quoting some of this stuff in the OP for prosperity. :D
I've been really busy and exhausted so I haven't had a chance to really keep up with my blog, but I've managed to find some time to provide a small update. There will be more to come later tonight.
Check the OP for the update!

Great blog man! Keep the updates and pictures coming, really interesting read!
You say you know enough Japanese to get around, and it seems you've been studying it in school. How long you been studying Japanese and did you find it hard to get to where you are today?
Can you read kanji?
Thanks.

Sorry, wasn't able to update the OP tonight. But I do have a serious question pertaining the blog:
Does anyone know of any sites where I can dump my photos in and separate them into albums, and then be able to link each album individually? Would make linking pictures on multiple sites/to multiple people much easier. T_T

UPDATED! ^^ (Check the OP)
Also, if possible, can someone answer the above question?
|
Don't know about the photos. I just use imageshack for everything.
You mentioned it's emptier due to the disaster. And it makes sense people are scared. May I ask, were you hesitant to leave for Japan, and do you think it's safe to travel there again? (There's been a lot of talk about the radiation.)
Otherwise keep up the good work!

I read all the pictures :-D

T_T Imgur allows you to upload groups of photos as albums and link the albums individually, but from what I know, you'd have to separate them beforehand. It should be good enough for what you want.
Awesome pictures. I'm so jealous. One day, Japan, I'll be there. Too bad the sakura aren't in bloom, or you'd probably get some really pretty and beautiful pictures

The picture of the road lined with Sakura trees on both sides (third photo under the ICU plaque) reminded me of Clannad...or every other school/slice-of-life anime :D

the dorm is amazing. im jealous =[ hope you have a great time though!

Hi!
I registered here in TeamLiquid just to ask you some questions.
What time did your flight arrive in Narita? How many hours will it take traveling from the airport to the dormitory in ICU? I'm asking since I'm planning to arrive at past 1 p.m. on Sept. 1, but the dorm orientation is at 5:30 p.m. so I'm not sure if I can make it.
Thanks!

Ever tried Picasa? you need a Google account but who doesn't have one these days?
You upload the pics to your Google's web album and it gives you the links you need to paste into forums.
It's very nice for managing albums as you can delete, change, re-arrange and re - upload, it will sync with your web albums.
