If anyone had to pick the hottest programmer today, the choice would no doubt be Ma Jae-yoon (sAviOr). He is the first zerg user to win 3 majors, and has a winning record against the vast majority of progamers. CJ Entus progamer Ma Jae-yoon. Despite repeated failed attempts to interview him due to xellOs’ 凸rush, we were finally able to complete an interview.

YGCLAN : Recently you’ve set the impressive record of 4 straight MSL finals appearances and 3 victories. How do you feel about your accomplishment?
savior[gm] : Actually I never imagined I’d make it to the finals so many times and to win as well. When I made it to the semifinals and the finals, I was surprised at myself as well, and also proud of myself. Because I was getting good results it seemed like I naturally put in more of an effort~
YGCLAN : Yes, it is quite amazing. Furthermore, this year you are at the top of the prize earnings list—do you manage your own finances or do your parents do it?
savior[gm] : My parents still manage my finances, but I can pretty much buy whatever I want. Of course I do not spend wastefully or luxuriously;
YGCLAN : You won both of your appearances in the Superfight, and in particular the first Superfight… some say your games with Lim Yo-hwan (Boxer) were a bit too fervent as a going-to-army present… what is your feeling about that.
savior[gm] : When I was preparing the games against Yo-hwan hyung, it was the games I wanted to win most, so I never relaxed from beginning to end… and it just turned out that way;;
YGCLAN : Is it true that you gave away the entire prize money from your second match with Lee Yoon-yul (NaDa) to the poor?
savior[gm] : Not the entire amount; I gave away my appearance fee. The money went to an organization run by CJ to buy books for children~

YGCLAN : You’re probably well aware of this, but every matchup you have with Nal_rA draws much interest, with people even going so far as to call you Ma-tler. Can you comment on playing against Kang Min?
savior[gm] : I’d like to ask fans to have as much interest in our matches as the “LimJinRok” matches between Yo-hwan hyung and Jin-ho (Yellow) hyung. If great and memorable games can come out of ZvP rather than ZvT, I think fans will look forward to our games even more~
YGCLAN : Of course it is a “big match” but every game I’ve seen between you two seemed to be one-sided…
savior[gm] : But it seems I fit the “bad guy” role… but it's fun too

savior[gm] : Ok… when I played against Jju it was the first game of a Proleague match so I was thinking how I could bring up my team’s spirit so I did that ceremony, and against Pusan… I don’t think I did any ceremony;

YGCLAN : ... I see. Well nowadays even if you make one strange movement it becomes fuel for some photoshopped picture so… Ok this is something that happened a few months ago. CJ progamer “S” (xellos) was eating ramen while on bnet and he was quite satisfied, saying he was full. When he was asked, “what does savior eat?,” Mr. “S” replied that “Because I am bottom barrel I eat ramen from the newly opened ‘Sushi Heaven’ chain store while Ma ‘sir’ is sawing away at a New York steak.” Could you explain this…
savior[gm] : If you hear that story wrong there could be great misunderstanding… I once ate at a place called New York steak and said it was good so that’s how the story started… in actuality Ji-hoon hyung eats much more luxuriously that I do,,,ㅠ.ㅠ

YGCLAN : In my memory, around 2003 you used the ID ipxzerg, how did you come to change your ID to savior?
savior[gm] : I’ll be brief. I didn’t like my ID so I thought for a long time for a new one and by chance I just thought this would be good so I changed it~

savior[gm] : Yes, there’s a lot but everyone eats so much that now there’s hardly any left.

savior[gm] : I don’t really have anyone in particular... but I think it’s hard to prepare to play against terrans.

savior[gm] : Was it a fad? -_-

YGCLAN : Despite showing amazing skill, because you said you were weak with that matchup many Starcraft players were put into deep depression. As evidence, is it not true that you have a very strong record against progamers “C” (iloveoov) and Progamer “S” (not sure who -_-)!
savior[gm] : I profit from this considerably… haha

savior[gm] : Well, in my case, if I have even a slight winning record against another player, I’m supremely confident. And even against players I have a losing record against, I never get intimidated. I think that’s my strong point.
YGCLAN : True, it seems I’ve never seen you be intimidated. It seems like you would think that games against protosses are incredibly easy. Do you yourself think that “protoss as a race cannot dream to match up with me”?
savior[gm] : When I first entered the team, I thought that my zvt was much better than my zvp, and in actuality my zvp was incredibly bad. But because I met many protoss players for broadcast games, I got more experience and as time went on I think my zvp has improved. But recently I think maps are more important than races~.
YGCLAN : Yes, that’s true. What is your feeling on Longinus 2, which is the subject of much debate nowadays? I personally think that this map was made with the sole purpose of “all zergs go screw yourselves.”
savior[gm] : I think even I can beat a zerg user using terran on that map.
YGCLAN : Some say that gamers who have just passed Courage easily beat experienced progamer zerg users on that map—is that true?
savior[gm] : I’ve never practiced against amateurs but it is difficult to beat even our team’s practice partners on that map…
YGCLAN : Sometimes I wonder if the mappers were sleeping as they were making the map.
