This game follows all the standard rules for a TL Mafia game, unless specified here. If you are not familiar with them, you probably should not be playing this game. I'll post the cheating list anyway:

Cheating:
Cheating includes (but is not limited to)

1. Posting after death. You may have one polite goodbye post, but it may not contain any potentially game-changing information.
2. Ruining the game by doing something like hand out your mafia's member list to the town.
3. Logging on to someone else's account to get their role or looking over someone's shoulder to get their role.
4. Comparing role PM times to determine roles.
5. Posting screenshots of your inbox.
6. Posting or sharing any PM you receive from a host.
7. Getting yourself modkilled to help your team. Your non-majority-decided death may not be used as a bargaining chip.
8. Signing up more than once using smurf accounts.
9. Betting items outside of the game in exchange for in-game benefits.
10. Sharing accounts with other players unless cleared by the host in advance. Otherwise, only you may post on your account.
11. Breadcrumbing the specific phrasing of your role PM. Do not compare the phrasing in your role PM to prove your alignment. You can claim the abilities you have, but you can't use the specific phrasing of your role PM.

Palmar specific rules

1. Don't be a dick.
2. I will modkill you if you're a dick. Modkilling is completely at my discretion so don't try to skirt the rules, or get out on technicalities. If you're not sure you can do something, ask me before you do.
3. I will always use my best judgement to resolves situations the rules don't explicitly cover. I will consult with experienced hosts if I feel that is necessary.
3. All questions should be PMd to the moderator. You are not allowed to say in thread you’re going to ask the moderator something, and you are not allowed to share your answer with the thread. If the question is a clarification all town needs to know, I will simply post an announcement in the thread.

Do not ask questions in the thread once the game has started (you can do it during sign-ups).
4. This game has a posting restriction. As it's Christmas, we want everyone to be able to play without having to wade through absolutely massive piles of ~~shit~~ posts. We think they're reasonable - 60-80 posts per day phase (that's 3-4 pages of filter), so consider yourself warned if you go above this. Anything above 100 posts is a no-go.
We're going to apply common sense to this - for example, we won't modkill people if they're posting a bit more to defend themselves while being wagoned - we still want the game to be played!
5. I generally do not replace people. Don't sign up unless you can play. If you have to drop out you will be dealt with by town and remain inactive. In some situations (emergencies), I might make an exception to this rule.
6. I reserve the right to modkill you on first edit. You are not guaranteed a warning.
7. Do not post when you should not be posting. Please be very mindful of the deadlines, even if a host is not around.

Setup Information

This is a normal game with some heavy flavor. All the roles are based on normal roles, and the day night cycle goes exactly as in a normal game. So as long as you're okay with playing normal mafia, you should feel right at home in this game.

However this is also a Palmar game so it might be "swingy" or "hard", depending how to look at it. Generally what sets my setups apart is that you're punished heavily for mistakes or bad play. This means that people will need to work hard for their side to get victory and if either side fucks up, it can turn into a landslide quickly.

All the roles below can be present in the game, and no role has any sort of a guarantee that it exists in the game. There may for example be three Ghosts of Christmas Yet To Come, no other Ghosts and no Scrooge, yet Marley might be present. In the same sense, there may be Disgruntled Christmas Workers without any Santas or Branch Managers. There may also be multiple instances of the same role.

Role PMs, Claims and Questions

Your role PM will only state the name of your role. Mafia and Masons will also have a link to their QT. That's it. No flavor, no colors etc.

You are allowed to claim your role name. You are not allowed to mention interactions with the host about your role. For example if the Jailkeeper has claimed and asks me "Can I protect the same target twice in a row", he may not claim that I said so. However, this information I would deem necessary for the thread to know, so I might announce the answer in the thread.

FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES I DON'T EXIST. DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE HOST, OR TALK ABOUT TALKING TO THE HOST

Almost every game I have modkill some idiot who starts asking me questions in the thread. Do NOT do this.

The process is simple:

Think of a question
Ask me the question
Receive the answer
If I think the answer is relevant to all of town, I will announce it in the thread, without mentioning who asked the question.

Notice that this list never includes you announcing you're going to ask me the question, or announcing that you're waiting for an answer from me. Interactions with me should be private.

Mafia KP formula is: 2KP

Each mafia player can only deliver one bullet, so in practice it drops to one when 1 mafia remains.

Santa

You are Santa. You embody the very spirit of Christmas. In their quest to hold wonderful Christmas with their families and friends, the people of Liquidia turn to you to be their leader against the forces that seek to disrupt Christmas. It is your job to guide them to what the season is all about.

You, more than anyone, understand who really gets it, and who doesn't. You even keep a list of those who are naughty and those who are nice.

Every night you can check in on a player to reveal their alignment.

Arnold

You are Arnold, you love everyone and you are basically an amazing man. Aside from the Christmas hit "Jingle All The Way" you're just all about what's good in life. If someone fucks with christmas, you take them out.

You can select a player during night and kill them. You have two bullets.

Snowman

You're a monument of the joy from when you were built. Also, you're made of snow. If you take a gun, and shoot the snow, is the snow dead?

Of course it isn't, it's science...

Because you're made of snow you will survive a single KP. You will however die if you suffer another one. Again, science.

Carol Singer

When christmas hits, you go wassailing to bring happiness to not just your families, but the people in your community too. You are accompanied by your friends on this mission.

You know that your fellow singers truly enjoy Christmas, and you can communicate with them privately.

Scrooge

Some people just don't understand what the fuss is all about. While on the surface you don't seem like a champion of Christmas, you are not lost yet. There is good in you and you can be saved. The important part is that you be guided by the spirit of Christmas, and not more malovelent forces.

You have no powers, however you will gain a one time ability depending on who shows you what Christmas really is all about. The ability is activated during day after which you were visited, and thus you will be notified of having been visited, and by whom.

If visited by:

Ghost of Christmas Past: You can take a look back and determine where a player went during the last night. This essentially is a tracker role that works the night before.
Ghost of Christmas Present: You are introduced to the Carol Singer group. You can communicate with them privately and are confirmed to them.
Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come: You can submit the name of a player. This player will be killed during the next night.
Jacob Marley: If Jacob gets to you before any of the ghosts, your soul can not be saved and you die.

Ghosts of Christmas

The Ghosts of Christmas are enigmatic beings who show people, each using his own methods, the importance of truly embracing Christmas.

Every night each ghost visits a person of his choice. If a ghost visits Scrooge, Scrooge will gain powers depending on which Ghost got to him first.

The most benevolent of the spirits, you remind Scrooge of a gentler version of himself. While peeking into the past Scrooge may be able to glean information useful for town.

Ghost of Christmas Present

You show Scrooge how others are spending Christmas, and you make sure he understands how vital it is that he takes part in the celebration. You convince Scrooge to join Carol Singers in bringing joy to Liquidia.

Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come

You teach the harsh lessons. If Scrooge doesn't act, future Christmas look grim. You convince Scrooge to take action and kill enemies of christmas the following night.

Nigella Lawson

One of the best things about Christmas is the amazing food and the cozy atmosphere. Nigella is an expert at making delicious things. Nothing can break your spirit on a full stomach. In fact, the food is so good that once you've settled in you're not leaving for the night.

Every night you can invite a player to share Christmas dinner with you. The player will be protected from harm during the night, but cannot take any action.

Elf

You're hard at work making sure Christmas is perfect for everyone.

You have no special powers.

Joyful Child

You truly represent what Christmas is all about. Nothing says Christmas like children.

Disgruntled Christmas Worker

You really do get it, however you also need to stay atop of the bills, and your boss really is riding you this Christmas season. People who don't know you might think you enjoy all this work, but you really just want to enjoy the holidays with your family.

If checked by Santa, you will turn up naughty.

However, once in the game you have a change your fate. If you can correctly guess Santa at night, you will cease to be a miller, and become a normal Vanilla Townie instead. You will be notified of this change (and thus your guess will be confirmed to you).

City Banker

You make too much money to mention working at an investment bank in the capital. You’re not really sure why Christmas exists, it’s just a wasted day when you could be in the office raking in more loot. Nevertheless, your large salary allows you to buy expensive gifts for your children and have all the inlaws for an amazing Christmas dinner that you sit through somewhat unwillingly.

As such, any Santa looking into your character won’t be able to see through your facade and will think you’re nice, not naughty.

Avaricious Branch Manager

Isn’t Christmas wonderful? It’s the perfect time of year to get your profits up, as all the dopey consumers come in and buy your wares. You have little to no regard for the welfare or needs of your staff at Christmas, as long as the money is coming in, that’s all that matters. And you’ll fire any staff that get uppity without regret.

You have a gun that you can use to shoot any claimed Disgruntled Retail Workers at night. You have 2 bullets (one per night).

Jacob Marley

You are Scrooge’s ex-business partner, and you died as greedy a man as he ever was. Anyway, because deus ex, you want to harm him, not help him.

Every night you may visit a player, and if that player is Scrooge then you kill him cold, going through any protection. Bah humbug!

Drunk Parent

You’ve had way too much to drink and you’re going to argue with anyone within reach. You’ll make your children cry; you’re a pretty terrible person.

Sadly your only power is your inability to hold your drink, but I guess you can carry some KP if you like.

Patronising Prick

Presents? Parties? Food? Hell no, that’s not what Christmas is about. It’s about peace, goodwill, the nativity and all the other boring stuff that no-one wants to pay attention to. And the music sucks. Christmas has become totally over-commercialized and you’re going to lecture anyone you can get your hands on about it. Even if you have some valid ideas, you're a total pain in the butt about it.

Every night you may talk at someone all night, preventing them taking any actions.

And who made you wear that stupid hat?

Mass Murderer

Let’s be straight - there’s very little that’s gonna ruin Christmas more than the bodies of your loved ones strewn around you in a terrible, gorey heap. So get to it.

You have a gun with 2 bullets, and may shoot once per night.

Christmas Presents

At the beginning of the game, three players will receive christmas presents. Before the end of day 1 they will have to decide to whom they pass those presents. During the following night the recipients of the gifts can choose to open the presents, or pass them on for the next day.

One present is from the Mass Murderer. It will kill whoever opens it.
One present is from Santa. It will allow the recipient to perform a single role check the next night
One present is from Arnold. It will allow the recipient to perform a night kill the next night.

Note that passing Christmas presents on does not count as a visit (for tracking purposes) and cannot be roleblocked (as it happens during the day). If the bearer of a present dies, the present is lost.

Mechanics and things I think people will want to know

1. Snowman can be roleblocked. If his role is blocked away, he will die from a single KP that night.
2. Nigella can protect whoever she wants, no limit on consecutive days.
3. All roleblocks are resolved first and simultaneously. The protection part of Nigella's role is resolved after roleblocks. (so if she is roleblocked, she can still roleblock, but she can't protect).
4. Marley takes priority over the Ghosts, mostly in practice as the abilities aren't of much use to a dead scrooge.
5. If two Ghosts visit Scrooge the same night, the most "recent" one will take priority, thus Yet To Come > Present > Past. Scrooge never gains more than one ability.
6. No one knows where the christmas presents start, or what each one contains. Mafia might start out holding the role check present, etc.
7. Carol singers are confirmed to each other.
8. The branch manager can always attempt to shoot, but he only has two bullets, and if the target is not a worker, nothing happens.
