Lost the archer.
Rushed Theocracy, the rushed Civil Service (part of ongoing Education Rush)
Got Meritocracy which I used for a Great Engineer who I used to rush Great Library (which rushed Theocracy).
Got the +Settler policy as well. Laid down a city and bought a monument in it. Built up some tiles with the lone worker.
Bought a Temple in the capital.
Finished Stonehenge. pulling in 20 policy per turn now.
Capital is spitting out settlers so we can claim some land. I sense tensions in our future with Persia, so we need to expo while we can >>

Otherwise, keep on improving tiles and GET TO EDUCATION TECH. If you can do this, everything else should fall into place rather nicely.

Quick summary is, I finished Civil Service, got Metal Casting (for workshops), and started up on Education. In the meantime, since we had no military, Darius declared war on us. First wave consisted of 4 or so warriors and an archer. While that was going on, I grabbed us a 4th city and held off the attack with city bombardment and 1 pikeman. Immediately after I put up the second city, Persia sent us a wave of immortals, horsemen, an archer, and a pikeman, but same story here; I managed to put us in a favorable position against Persia's army.. mostly since the AI is pretty dumb. Persia's army < city bombardment + 1 pikeman + money management.
The capital is 2 or 3 turns away from producing another pikeman, so we should have no problem holding this. We should not suffer any loss greater than losing 1 pikeman.
As a side note, I derped and got a worker stolen to barbs around turn 113 or so. You will want to check along for the east coast for the barb encampment imprisoning it, and retrieve it with pikemen once the situation settles down.
The silk by Shanghai is also top priority. We need happiness ><

I took the liberty of playing a few moves into turn 121, just to keep things safe. I hope you don't mind xD;;
I recommend getting workshops in every city first, followed by libraries, followed by colosseums only as much as we need to, then granary -> aqueduct (given tech) -> stable/forge (if available) -> university. If you want to aim for a science victory or general tech advantage, getting a university first in cities with higher populations is acceptable, but workshops absolutely must come first. The longterm production advantage outweighs 20 or so turns of extra 5 beakers. Just my 2 cents :D

Damn this was tough. My 40 turns was pretty much all on the defensive, Persia had a LOT of units and they kept on streaming in, somehow I managed not to lose a city while still getting a university and even a wonder built in the capital. The wonder got rushed with a great engineer we got.
I built some archers and pikemen to hold the defense and lost some during his attack, but I have now stabilized somewhat and upgraded our lone lvl 2 surviving archer to a Cho-ku-nu. In a few turns we will have 3 Cho-ku-nus more so defending will be a breeze. I recommend getting a few longswordsmen or musketmen and going on the offensive. Sadly I lost a great general because the persians suicided units into the pikeman defending it.
We also have a great scientist I havn't used yet, was thinking of rushing gunpowder with it.
Social policy went into monarchy (we need happyfaces badly) and into landed elite so we can get a bit more production citzens. Nearly all the cities are on production focus btw, change that when our happiness gets a little more stabilized.

Okay i just finished my 40 turns and although we took a bit of a hit i think overall as long as the next person can hold off the Persian onslaught one more time i feel as if we can defeat them. I am sorry there are no pictures but my computer is being really dumb so i will jsut thorughly explain what happened.
First i had to deal with a few waves of barbarian and Persian pressure which consisted of archers, horsemen, and pikeman. (no problem xD) I expanded once more to the nothern part of the map which looks to be a pretty good and safe spot considering there is no one even near there.
Then persia attacked again..Unfortunately Persia had musket men out before us which proved to be too much to handle so in the end I offered peace for 5g per turn and 150 additional gold (better than losing a city… I would HIGHLY suggest upping our defenses
There was a small amount of time of peace which was good and i was able to get out a few more musketmen before they re attacked. I also derp'd a bit by losing a worker by the Persian border so another worker built is a priority.
There should be enough troops there to hold off Darius' initial attack and i hope you continue to get more knights and musketmen out as well as work on our happiness which is a sad sight at -2. Like i said if the next person can jsut hold off darius we should be able to eventually start attacking ourselves.

Only ever had time to play this game for a couple hours even though I bought it in December TT. Never played a Civ game until this one and really enjoyed the chilled out atmosphere compared to hour I thought it would be. Once I get going I'd love to join in on this, very interesting way to play! :D

Have we found any other CS besides Brussels? It might be good to get extra happiness by allying a CS with a luxury for more expansions, or conquering a Persian city :D

It used to be "SpearRitual" (Spiritual) after my favorite Civ 4 Leader Trait! After my Battle.net name change, now its just "SpearWrit" (Spirit) and thus my TL.net forum account was named after such.
But anyway onto it!
Well! You folks certainly did not leave me a cakewalk!
It was tough, but now we are in a very strong position.
At first the Persian hordes came through our great land, but the only thing they found was death. How dare they think they can be so uppity against the superior Middle Kingdom! We will subdue the Persian barbarians, and make them bow to us.
You see! Their intellect is not so great as ours. They place a cannon on the front lines, to be easily destroyed by our Musketmen! How careless!

But seriously, their Knights are the most frustrating, annoying !@#$ing unit this whole war. They kept flanking our Musketmen, killing units that I retreated for healing beyond the fog of war without Line of Sight! WTF. They even suicided to kill low riflemen in the middle of our lines! No purpose to their tactics! Surely our genius General Zhuge Liang will over come them.

Eventually we lay siege to their city and claim it, with all the spoils! With it, we start a 4 turn golden age for adopting Rationalism! Our heavenly science will surpass all the world's!

Seriously though nice job, i knew after we held his main pushes we would eventually break through, and now we have the chance to take some nice cities. My only question is, where is everyone else? I can only remember one measly city-sate and i think 2 other civs.. Where is everyone!! This is a huge map on continents which means that about 3 or 4 civs per continent with SC's
