I felt bad dismantling a little bit of the specialist structure, and at first it was kicking me a bit with some growth problems, but once I trolled a few of Ghandis CS allies it gave me a lot of luxury resources and I was pleasantly surprised at how productive that bottom right city turned out. I got the feeling that Washington was getting a bit more antsy from the "fake" friendly deals. You could try to bribe the other civs into warring each other. Washington and Napy should be easy, not sure if it's possible to bribe someone to DOW ghandi.

Ah, the reason I used all those specialists is that each specialist gives +2 science, regardless of what they're a specialist at. I was trying to use policy specialists coupled with science specialists to get a couple of those freedom policies that are so useful at this stage in the game, and to rush the crap out of Apollo tech, since I figured it was our last best hope of winning. I always keep a policy victory available as a OPTION, just because if it comes down to it, you can force through a policy victory with specialists and cultural CS allies-- but without key wonders such as stonehenge and the like to boost overall civ policy output, it's not easy, and it's slower than a science victory in our situation, especially with 5 active cities.

Also when I decided to build Cristo Redentor I was pretty much pressing end turn every time expecting a prompt saying that Washington or Ghandi had sniped me. I was surprised when it finished... Sucker even made me waste some science points ![]() Knowing what I know now, cultural victory with Cristo Redentor + That freedom policy would have been a good choice too. But I will say it really depends on your taste. Civ 5 is newer and all the kinks haven't been quite worked out yet, but still fun and has a different combat system (one unit per tile). Civ 4 pretty much has more of everything and as such, you have to manage more of everything. It also lets you stack military units on the same tile. So really it's up to you. There are those of us who like Civ 5 over Civ 4 and that's okay. There are people who don't like Civ 5 and prefer Civ 4 for its particular features, and that's okay. I'm sure there are some who even like both.

All honesty this game not much left unless someone wants to go do something crazy and DOW one of the other two continents.
