That's why. I don't quite understand it, but it's whatever. I was overly aggressive in another thread and was warned for that first (rightly deserved), so I think the mod was power tripping or particularly irked him personally and decided to do it to another post, on a thread that I hosted no less. I'm not gonna make a deal about it and press on.
Looking forward to your update, Furycrab! The national college is 3 turns away but the new patch nerfed the opening...so curious on how you do this one.

•Memes, even TL ones, are annoying. Don't 1a2a3a your way to posting over 9000 memes -- we will ban you. There are plenty of places to go if you want to see posters of people failing at things or a humorous caption appended to a photograph of a cat. TeamLiquid is not one of those places.
They have it preatty clearly labeled in their rules.

I'm going with the Mongol Save file I found a few posts earlier, god help me now! Starting!
Done, Working on the write up. New patch screwed us a little in this game, but I still think it can be fun stuff, especially with the Mongols. Hint: It screwed up our start pretty badly.
You'll have to apologize that I don't have too many Screenshots, I had a few issues with it at first but I think I got the most of it.
I loaded up on Turn 41 and the first glaring problem was right in my face...
NC start doesn't quite work anymore since you need philosophy and not Writing.
The NC which was just a few turns away turns out to be an ocean away, with Philosophy over 15 turns away.
* I did attempt to salvage it with a Great Library start hoping the game would be nice to me, but it failed horribly at turn 50 and even woodcutting and production focus only would have gotten me the library at 51-54. Heartbreaking, but I reloaded and went a different route.
Being born in a Society where liberty seems to be highly encouraged, and seeing that the continent I'm currently on is fairly large with a ton of good land around me, I set out a bit ICS style and eventually as you will see in the last shot I have now 3 extra cities in decent spots for resources and a 4th one coming with the hopes that we will see another City next to the Wine fields and Oasis.
I still had a scout down south and after about 2 or 3 turns I found these strange men...

They seemed to be in very distant lands so they seemed fairly friendly, and wouldn't really get in my way of eventually exploding out of Mongolian lands into smashing the English.
We left on friendly terms, but it became very quickly apparent that he wasn't on good terms with Ghandi and that Ghandi might be losing. I would avoid making friends with Ghandi to avoid frustrating these "Germans"
I quickly set out as I mentioned and settled our second "Great City"

For those that want to know, the germans are at the very southern edge of the map you see in that shot.
As you can see there's one good spot to our west where I believe we should set down near the Wine, and further West you can see the Vile English, our "diplomats" tell me that they are keeping good relations with the English. However the Great Khan, sees bigger plans, however with great Wisdom I highly recommend we wait until our so called Declaration of Friendship and "Research" agreement expires as seen here...

And yes... Albeit a certain bug made me see this much earlier... There was not one, but 3 Iron Resources on my lands. About 10 Iron total. The English might not even know what hit them!
Sadly my turn winded down and because I had setup to keep up in Research with everyone I had to keep things fairly peaceful. I did however manage to settle a forth city which should prove decent at production along with being right next to an Extra Silver and Iron.
I also was almost done with a 4th settler which I had hoped to plant next to the wine to the west being a good strategic place to plant my armies and eventually hop into English lands after our so called Deals had ended.

Things I want to tell my successor.
1) Stick to the Liberty tree till it's complete and hopefully get something good with the free GP, after that I would recommend Piety since it will make managing our huge empire much easier.
2) My southern scouts have seen a large piece of land that is unexploited, should war seem unlikely, an alternative would be to expand in those lands. However you may need a bit of naval tech.
3) Keep producing a few extra units every now and again so we can keep some measure of respect and not have AIs think of us as weak and break any Deals (you have an RA with almost everyone you know)
4) Try to get us in a position where we can have a caravel or two around 110-120, Our continent is huge, however we might be able to do some great trade (and it reduces the cost of future techs) with other people while we slowly turn this continent into Mongolia.
5) My settler coming up next turn had a fairly good spot to the west with 2 Oasis and 1 wine.
6) Start connecting the closer cities so that when we get Meritocracy we can have a bonus 3-5 happiness.

Okay guys im back from vacation. Still want to continue this thread...... I would suggest that we start over completely and make a new list of players so we know who is still active and who is not. Just a suggestion, feel free to ignore it.
