That like 1 second clip of cg with the ultra getting hit by a siege tank shell as the banelings roll by. Yeah, I saw the zerg landing and I was like "cool". I saw Kerrigan force-choking people and I was "meh". Then I saw the scene with the charging zerg and half of the ultra's body disappearing in the explosion, and I was just "OMG <3".Blizzard cg is so amazing want to see a full cg trailer now still remember that sick one for WoL (well it wasn't all cg but still was amazing)

(not quite sure why spoilered, why would people who haven't finished WoL go to a HotS thread?) I wonder how they want to detect which choice you made in those missions. What happens if you played through the campaign multiple times, like I and many others did? Do they take the first playthrough then? That would suck. :x

It begins with what WoL ended with: Kerrigan getting deinfested and being carried away by Raynor in the sunset. The music, however, is quite different, more specifically having a more distinguished dark atmosphere, signaling somewhat more downbeat than what WoL promised. ![]() Then, a black screen, and we can hear Kerrigan say, "The girl you remember… is dead". ![]() We then see Kerrigan in a lab, now armored in a ghost suit. We've seen teasers of this before, more specifically on the HOTS preview site and this photo. Where is this lab, and what the hell is going on? ![]() We then find out Kerrigan is gunning for Mengsk. Not surprising, perhaps, but she's had the chance to kill him before (first when capturing him and taking him back to Korhal, secondly after defeating him in Omega), so why the sudden urge? Does the transformation have anything to do with this? Is she being controlled now, or was she perhaps so before, now finally getting the chance to do what she always wanted? ![]() Seems Heart of the Swarm will be an action-filled expansion. I wonder, though, why we see Battlecruisers fighting each other? Is the Hyperion fighting Dominion ships? ![]() Here, we see Hyperion crew members "feeling the heat" (you see Kachinsky in the background). Guess that means we won't be spending all of our time in the Leviathan. ![]() If you guys check out the artwork panel video, you'll see them discussing new terrain and environment. This is their new installation, though the drop pods may indicate we're on the roof, or at least outside. Personally, I'm guessing this is one of the earlier missions, possibly the location of the lab. ![]() This one is really intriguing to me. We see Kerrigan on a fast-moving aerial-based transporter. It looks really cool, and is an interesting twist on what you usually see in RTS games. This shows Blizzard taking influence from TPS, FPS and RPG games, not just in gameplay, but also in environment. ![]() I can't be the only one seeing this (ultralisks and jungle), and not be thinking of this. And what's this? ![]() Here we once again see Kaldir, though significantly, the Protoss is freezed. What happened to their shields? ![]() This is the most Protoss-like environment we've seen so far, including WoL. Is it a ship? An installation? And what are those critters in those cells? ![]() Terrans fighting Terrans again. Will we get a Terran mini-campaign, or do we perhaps control Zerg and Terrans simultaneously? And is that the Hyperion? Out of curiosity, I opened the map maker and tried to find out. The Hyperion and battlecruiser are dissimilar only in size, so I put a wraith next to them (if you look at the picture, you can see the wraiths being quite small compared to the Hyperion, and the editor shows the size ratio between that and the wraith being more appropriate than the one between a battlecruiser and a wraith). ![]() What kind of soldier is this? Seems there is no head inside the helmet, so it might be remote-controlled. The environment looks like the inside of the Hyperion, or at least some kind of battlecruiser. ![]() Matt Horner makes a return, with one line in trailer: "Stand down!". The way he says it, sounds to me like he says it to one of a subordinate, not Kerrigan, though that is speculation. What do you think? ![]() Warfield is back too, with one line: "How many innocents have you killed? How many more must die?" It is put like he is saying it to Kerrigan, but if you look at the WoL trailer, you can see several instances where lines are put in different contexts, either because it fits better in the trailer, or because it means less is spoiled, which means Warfield can be addressing someone else. But who? Arcturus? Valerian? Raynor? ![]() With that in mind, note that was appears to be Kerrigan's response might not actually be that. Here we see her openly showing regret, either because of something she has done or because of something she is about to do. The gun points to the possibility of the latter. Intriguing. ![]() Valerian also makes an appearance, getting strangled. In the trailer, Kerrigan is present, but is she one doing it? If so, why? ![]() This is one of the most promising clips. Hard to say where it is taking place, but Kerrigan going after Mengsk suggests Korhal, as does the red marines. The scene looks horrific, and I can't wait to see it. ![]() I don't think the following picture is from the campaign (purple Zerg instead of orange), but I might be wrong. Either way, it looks cool. I love aerial fights. ![]() More drop pods, Terran this time, but who is dropping, and on whom? The location seems to be Terran-based. Raynor helping Kerrigan in an invasion? ![]() This looks like Kerrigan has made her way into the Hyperion, or some kind of battlecruiser. Technically, they'd probably look the same, but I'd imagine Blizzard making a different interior for a different battlecruiser, to better distinguish it from the interior of the Hyperion. The headless soldiers make a reappearance. ![]() This final image is just plain awesome. Don't know where it takes place, but it is pre-rendered and there was a limited use of those in WoL (only 4, to be exact), so it might belong to the one with the drop pods and the red marines. ![]() Finally, I have two pictures obtained from IGN, showing interesting stuff. The first picture is this one, which shows a Protoss inside the Leviathan. On the SC Legacy forums, they said it was a prisoner, but I don't have more intel on that. ![]() The last picture shows Warfield's compound being part of the missions on Char. Unsurprising, perhaps, but interesting nonetheless. We seem to get a glimpse of it in the artwork clip I posted earlier. ![]() That's what I have for now. Thoughts?

That's what I have for now. Thoughts? My thoughts for now is that HOTS looks fricking awesome! ![]() The big thoughts your post provokes is that I now think it's pretty likely we'll be playing, at least a small part, as (or with) the Terrans. Blizz stated that there had been great enthusiasm for the Protoss side-quests in SC2 so I think it's likely they'll be trying very hard to incorporate off-racing into HOTS somehow. I don't see how they could have us playing as Protoss from a lore POV, but I can definitely see some Terran action.... Jim is too much of a sucker for Kerrigan to resist and so I think it's likely he's going to support her at least somehow - that would also explain Matt Horner's "Stand down!" comment (which I agree is probably given to a subordinate). I imagine Horner is attempting to split up a fight involving the Hyperion's crew as I have no doubt some of them will not be happy allying with Kerrigan. I also think it's pretty unlikely Warfield is NOT speaking to Kerrigan in his quote, especially as one of the quests is clearly to overwhelm Warfield's compound. Perhaps Raynor (assuming he allies with Kerrigan in some way), but I think that is less likely.

I get that its the 'zerg' expansion, but it feels as though the entire story line is between raynor and kerrigan, and the racial involvement is almost exclusively terran and zerg - for what its worth WoL felt very similar and turned out to be for the most part. just my 2c :D

Will the multiplayer units also be available to Wings of liberty, or do you have to buy the expansion to get the units. In that case. Will the game then be split in two games or will you have to play against players who have units you don't have?

More then likely they'll do what they did when Starcraft: Brood War came out. Those who only have Starcraft (aka Vanilla) would only play those with that addition. This limited imbalancing issues due to the new units in the game they weren't normally designed for. This also helps generate money to get played to buy the expansion overall.

I'm pretty sure there will be a completely separate ladder for HoTS so you will only play people who are also playing HoTS. My main concern is if portraits carry over or not and if the progress you have towards portraits carries over to HoTS (ex. you have 800 protoss 1v1 wins on WOL but will getting 200 1v1 toss wins in Hots give you the acheive and portrait for 1000 or do you have to get separate achievements in HoTS).

Does the transformation have anything to do with this? Is she being controlled now, or was she perhaps so before, now finally getting the chance to do what she always wanted? When Arcturus was Kerrigan´s "guest" after Raynor and Fenix save him from the UED, she needed him; not just for his tecnology, but also she needed powerful allies to fight the earthlings. When they defeated the UED together, Kerrigan betrays them in Korhal´s surface and kills Duke and Fenix. That´s actually the only chance she had to kill Arcturus. But she couldn´t throw all her forces into Augustgrad right away: the UED and Shakuras protoss were still out there. Her main directive, as a Zerg, was to regather the Swarm and grant its survival. Then she spent 4 years doing gosh knows what. At WoL time, once again she has priorities - running after Xel Naga prophecies and artifacts. So the real question, in my opinion, is not why she hasnt killed Megsk before; it is why is she doing it now, since the shit she was worried about is still going on, except that now her galactical army is torn apart. Its probably because all of a sunden she´s human again, she needs to make sense of things, and vengeance seems a great way to fill the void she now has inside her. So listening to her screwed up emotions > caring about the fate of the universe. Because she can. I think its very samurai-ish actually. This stoic revenge-over-everything-else thing. Fits with the feeling of SC 2 so far: WoL is about the "loniest guy in the universe" (according to Metzen), drinking, being useless and fooling his crew while the sector burns, when se suddenly has the chance to repair his deepest emotional wound. So he goes Bono and say: fuck the revolution. Again, emotions > apocalipse/politics. Thats actually a great story going on... not even a bit like BW, which had so much more politics. But still a great story. I think the main thing we´re missing are the astonishing dialogs. About everything else... well, I don´t want to think too much on some stuff that could be spoilerish. Some random thoughts: Matt Horner makes a return, with one line in trailer: "Stand down!". The way he says it, sounds to me like he says it to one of a subordinate, not Kerrigan, though that is speculation. What do you think? I think we´re having a plot transition here. So we dont parachute-drop cluelessly at Kerrigan´s nightmarish life. Plot will give us time to say "good bye so long" to Hyperion. Would same thing happen in the beginning of LotV? Valerian also makes an appearance, getting strangled. In the trailer, Kerrigan is present, but is she one doing it? If so, why? Kerrigan´s trying to show there can be only one "puta reina del universo" ![]() This is the most Protoss-like environment we've seen so far, including WoL. Is it a ship? An installation? And what are those critters in those cells? Zerg are evil, they use smelly creep-bombs to kill puppies. Those puppies were being raised by Aiur Chefs to be served as meals to Korean pro gamers. :D Also the trailer is amazing, but like they spoilered 80% of WoL´s campaign in the trailer, I feel they are spoiling at least 50% of the campaign (incluing the ending...) with this one. Thx for raising the thread back from the dead ![]() EDIT: We were thinking, wtf was all that jungle stuff right? Just jungle planet to invade or does zerg have gone jungle? Blizzcon answered it... + Show Spoiler + Reminds me of Akira... EDIT 2: + Show Spoiler + As Dantes says, Kerrigan actually spared Arcturus' life at Korhal. Things make more sense now ![]()

Good point about Kerrigan now not caring about the greater threat. That explains the amnesia.
