I almost thought the adbots are already so smart to put these posts together on their own, but I guess not yet. I'm only going to start getting worried once people develop a better model than Markov chains. Right now, all the bots either spout nonsense or follow the same formula.

SC-Shield was banned. Is he the same Shield that made alt accounts with names insulting tofucake? He really seemed dedicated to making alts back then.

Not as clever as this bot that one time managed to make complete starcraft related sentences from whatever algorithm it used though.

I'm so tempted to throw a bunch of avilo posts into a Markov chain text generator and see what it comes up with. It'd probably be pretty funny and not that far off from the real thing.

If you didn't play SC2 or was a noob, the advice looks totally legitimate.

MS published their source for Tay, maybe use that?

I now imagine myself In twenty years, siting in a cave hiding from the AI overlords roaming the planet, telling the children the stories about how we first saw the AI getting ahead of us in the form of TL.net adbots.
The fact that they can make posts that are so hard to tell apart is more of a testament to the quality of the common TL post than the advances in AI though.

We're calling it "The Inversion" for now but we're not particularly attached to it.

I had no idea what you mean, so I googled "The Inversion". After skipping the obvious meteorology, the first link was https://www.rooshv.com/the-inversion-agenda. I must admit to having read most of it in a single sitting of constant awe. Are people really this insane? And why are people this insane on the first Google page for a relatively innocent term with plenty of science-related uses?
So, thank you for broadening my horizons. I am also now more leaning towards actually rooting for the AI ...

... so high that employees feared an inflection point after which YouTube’s systems for detecting fraudulent traffic would begin to regard bot traffic as real and human traffic as fake. They called this hypothetical event “the Inversion.”
OMG that is nearly as great as that other thing

So apparently Jimmy read his last ban as instructions to start "Aggressive Head-Canon" the Thread?

here is some boring, middle-of-the-road stuff. it is fact based though. https://www.teamliquid.net/forum/general/540389-the-games-industry-and-atvi#14

Most people just talk around him for the most part and only engage at the extra stupid shit. nah, my posts are ok. i think i've had 3, 2-day bans in 5 years. how many bans have you had in the past year?

i follow the rules of the web site. that is bad? if i want to post something silly and humourous related to software development or sports i do that elsewhere.

that's not true at all. You have two pages of mod notes, one of those pages from before 2014 one of them after. for post-2014, that includes 8 bans (where 4 of them were 2 days, three of them 1 week and one 30 days) and 8 warnings.
And that doesn't include any alts that might have been axed in the same period
