Also saro is Galio, because Galio reminds me of a flying monkey. Saro is responsible for the monkeys.

I know this is traditionally not the place but i would like to ask all staff:
2 days (TWO DAYS?) temp ban for "become terrorists and kill as many as you can"?
Really? Seeing how we're talking about a long standing reputable member and contributor of the community, i can see why it wasn't a perm ban. But two days? Makes me completely lose faith in TL moderation.
Do mods/admins even agree on this?

There certainly hasn't been any disagreement over this particular ban that I am aware off.
Too bad that single instance makes you lose all faith in us, because apart from that you look like a good guy.

It's a slap on the wrist - sometimes you have to give lesser punishments than you'd like but this is the "ask TL staff anything" thread so i'm asking - does everyone really agree on this?
I obviously don't see the admin forum, but i would hope there's at least some discussion regarding what stance to take against comments like these.
I wouldn't lose faith over a hard decision (to go with the slap on the wrist) but i would like the ban to reflect (or some statement to be made to similar effect) that TL are discussing the future course of action in regards to this kind of thing.
We must pursue a higher standard. For TL to remain great in these new times i would like to know that the minds behind the decisions on these forums are actively debating the issues.
This is an important situation. A prominent member has made an unacceptable statemnent. I'm not upset over the chosen punishment but i'd be mortified to learn that there has been no discussion. While i'm sure you all stand by the actions of the moderator (as you should) who banned the offense, that shouldn't be a reason not to question it.
With that in mind, my initial post was a bit rash and colored with emotion. Staff isn't to blame for this and the faith i may have lost is primarily in the general community. The 'financial abortion' thread with irrational fear over women scraping up semen and impregnating themselves with it behind the backs of unsuspecting partners and now this... I'm getting a bit tired, that's all.

I think you're viewing the situation as if he sat down, thought about it, and wrote a signed statement saying that's his view on the world.
More likely is that he wrote it in passing fueled by passion.

Ultimately, will a 1 week ban (or longer) have any different effect to a 2 day ban in this case? I think not.
|
As far as effects go it's difficult to say. I would have liked to see a week/30day ban as indicative of putting the foot down.
I just find it problematic that a 2 day ban is what's handed out for balance whine. Sure, this was a comment made in the heat of passion and not a political manifesto encouraging terrorism, but it's still different from the general slurs that usually warrant 2 day bans.
A bump up on the 'scale' wouldn't have been too bad in this case, in my opinion. An opinion i hoped maybe some members of staff would agree with.

Thank you very much. Didn't search for this kind of thread (the second one) .

I have a question, what would happen to the site if R1CH disappears (e.g. a boulder fell on him or he decides to live in a cave)?
I'm asking mainly because I've read about organisations losing their tech guru(s) and eventually falling apart because nobody understands what the guru did or they can't find a replacement.

Google won't work on the source.

Let's be honest, if R1CH even so much as thought about leaving TL staff, we'd have a full Y2K situation in here. Like when Harry's aunt inflates in the start of the third book, his mind power alone will cause everything to shut down.

You know a post is strange when it starts with the words "No Homo" and follows up with spoilers.
As for Chill, he is never allowed to get in or on, just out.

One day, your parents may, or may not sit you down, probable that it will be on your lonesome and give you a talk that you will find extremely awkward.
I do not feel as if it's my place to explain such things.

My parents never gave me the infamous "talk" and I always felt like I was missing out or something.
