It's a lot more acceptable to be physically affectionate in Korea (and other East Asian countries too) than it is in the West, mostly because up until very recently, Korea and its gvmt basically denied the existence of homosexuality as an actual orientation, so being affectionate doesn't imply anything about your sexual orientation (long story ...), just that you're friends. Like how girls can hold hands in the West and not get the automatic "oh, you're lesbians!" reaction but more the "oh, girls just being girls ..." (Though obviously homosexuality's more accepted, just that the entire "it's a girl thing" overshadows the "they're girlfriends" implication. Would hazard a guess to say that's why it's fine in Korea. "It's just guys being good friends" overshadows the possibility of "they're gay" so guys are much freer with physical affection than they are in the West.) Anyways, there was a talk with Milkis once where Milkis was asking MKP Reddit questions and one of the questions was either "Who do you think is the handsomest progamer?" or "If you were a girl, which pro would you marry?" or something like that, and MKP said he thought PuMa was really handsome, but added quickly that he's not gay. Would add that many, many people born and raised in Korea are homophobic or treat homosexuality as a freak show sort of thing, though obvs it's changing with the newer generation and such. ANYWAYS, I need to stay away from my 4000th post. I told Blasterion I'd write him a NaDa/Keen blog story for him on 4000. Unfortunately it's coming up a bit soon. Does a blog count as a post?
