Man, the more I look at this thread the sadder i get. I personally think Void looks pretty cool as it is (and judging by all the troll posts in here, most of you can't think of any useful reworks). And whatever he gets turned into is probably going to be worse than his current model.

The thing is, his current incarnation is awfully plain. He's a purple anthropomorphic alien with a cheesy as hell hammerhead face, a mace and a loincloth. There isn't much of interest in this very generic concept, and more importantly it doesn't reflect at all the time theme.

The fact that his body is uniformly plastic purple without texturing or details is another flaw in his model.

Even though a full rework may not jave been necessary or at least as necessary as other heroes, he at least needed to be tweaked.

Seriously though, why do people want to remodel him? He looks fine as he is. But if people are full bent on reworking him just make him something like a protoss unit, just more zergy. I dunno, all i can think of are dark templars when you talk about the "void"...

Again like has been mentioned earlier, change his persona, his voice lines suggest narcissism and being self centered with his power. His voice lines should suggest mysterious terror and darkness, like Abbadon, I love Abbadon's lines, it reflects his lore and persona well. Void on the other hand almost sounds like Invoker, it's fitting on Invoker, but not Void (I also find that Invoker pub players often have Invoker's personality X3)

He acts like fucking Lord Farquaad from Shrek, but traveling thru time. Make him spooky and give him some more appendages. Maybe chain of green spikes down his back, surrounded by black fading to purple, and change his arm that holds the weapon to a hulking rope of tentacles which is darker than the rest of him. For the face, or lack thereof... I will draw something and put it in this thread later.

Make him a mass of something (tentacles/clouds), that extends to attack and draws back to backtrack, stop thinking of a human shape. I think faceless indicates mainly that he's inhuman, so i'd go with a fluid/semi fluid mass of something like black clouds like spectre or water like morphling.

I'd play around with the morphling model and the "river of time" idea, like making it flow backwards whenever it backtracks. Take the mouth and eyes away, make it flow slower to give it a more biological feeling, dual color it maybe (like making the main thing black/dark purple and create one or two golden/white/whatever small streams similar to enigma). Morphling already has a jump animation so they can take that one and alter it to something more slow flowing like pl's.
I like chronosphere the way it is so i'd keep it.

@Sassback it's pretty apparent why this situation has come up. His lore gives next to nothing in terms of what he looks like and what his character is, his theme, time is as inconcrete as possible in terms of visuals and as a result valve's model is rather boring. It's not because void's model is fine, it's because it's hard to come up with a good model for a being that which is only described by "faceless void who uses time and comes from a different plane".

I am also confused as to how Void won over Slardar. I thought Zeus was okay, Viper needs to look a little scarier than he is, but his model isn't horrible.

That said, I think when you're naming a hero "faceless void" seeing that model, it's not faceless and it's not a "void". I'm not advocating some abstract model similar to Io, but I think the head should be darker, and scarier, the body should be some (shaped) body of energy, not necessarily resembling a human body.

Also agreed with the comments on his voice (though I don't think it's up for change) - he sounds almost as narcisstic as Zeus and Invoker, and he doesn't have to be.

He needed a new voice far more than a new model. He has one of the most vicious looks in the game and yet his voice pack, while fine in a vacuum, looks like it should be coming from some Silencer-looking motherfucker or something. Not some vicious humanoid time-beast, which is what his current model suggests, especially the mouth - from which I simply cannot see his vocals coming. They don't make sense.

I doubt Valve is going to get workable suggestions so hopefully they just iterate on the current dynamic which is how I feel they did SF. New SF looks essentially like old SF - arcana aside - but way more awesome.

I think they can achieve that with Void. And then change his fucking voice.
