Does Furmark still cause restarts?
Furmark passed a half-hour test without skips, hangs errors or anything. Flawlessly, as far as I know. Should I run a longer test?

Apparently the PSU fixed the Furmark shutdown, so you had two separate faults in the first place, which explains my terrible diagnosis ![]() The second fault is most likely to be a software problem or a dying HD. Uninstall any AV software and post a CrystalDiskInfo screenshot. Oh, lovely. Well I'm not too annoyed about the PSU, I'd have needed to fix that at some point anyway; better to have found it now than later! Uninstalled Avast, but I also have TuneUp360 on my pc; should that be disabled or uninstalled as well? Here's my screenshot: + Show Spoiler + What does all this information mean, and is it at dangerous levels? And your diagnoses are helpful whether initially correct or not, it's my info that needs to be improved ![]()

The problem has been occurring for much longer than I've used 360; my roommate threw it on the pc about 2 weeks ago after noticing it was getting worse. Though I will look into that. Any tips on spotting a fake? I didn't do the paying or installing, just the using ![]()

Also check whether there's anything interesting in event log (control panel->administrative tools->event viewer->windows logs->system).

![]() As to the windows error log, I'm reading through it now and I don't see much of anything related to crashes or the noted programs. I have a few application hangs, but I remember why those hung and it's nothing to do with the issue. I'm see a few errors having to do with Autodesk Maya, which I installed recently (a month ago). That error (recurring) reads: + Show Spoiler + "Activation context generation failed for "c:\Program Files\Autodesk\Composite 2012\python\lib\distutils\command\wininst-8_d.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis." Also, there's a warning which iirc has to do with the Witcher game; during installation it wouldn't run properly, so I did research and had to disable a driver by Tages Protection to have it run right. The warning reads: + Show Spoiler + "The application (Tages Protection, from vendor Tages SA) has the following problem: A driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system. This driver will be disabled. Please contact the driver manufacturer for an update that is compatible with this version of Windows." Should this be an issue? There's another, more interesting error: + Show Spoiler + "Windows cannot unload your registry file. The memory used by the registry has not been freed. This problem is often caused by services running as a user account. Try configuring services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account. DETAIL - The media is write protected." Don't know where to begin on that one. There's an SC2 crash under "Application Hang" in there and an Explorer.EXE crash under the same category, with an error: + Show Spoiler + "The program SC2.exe version 1.4.3.21029 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel. Process ID: 19e4 Start Time: 01cd0f04a49365b9 Termination Time: 165 Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Versions\Base21029\SC2.exe Report Id: b8090efa-7af9-11e1-ba46-1c6f65d33a90" That's about it for the last two weeks, besides recurrences of some of the maya and tages protection errors, and a few miscellaneous warnings: + Show Spoiler + "Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.
