So I've had a new computer from iBuyPower for about seven months now, and for the last three months I've been having issues both with my Razer Lachesis mouse and my Razer Lycosa keyboard. What'll happen is, randomly, my computer will stop recognizing any movement or clicks or keypresses that I make. It never affects both products at the same time, and the only way to fix the issue is to unplug the problematic Razer product and plug it back in.
I've tried updating and reinstalling the drivers for the mouse and keyboard a few times, but I never had a problem with the Lachesis on my old Alienware laptop (I only got the Lycosa when I got the desktop), so I'm not sure whether the issue is with the Razer products or the computer itself. I also have a printer connected to my computer, and that never stops working.
I've been scared to play any Starcraft 2 in these past months because of the problems with my mouse and keyboard, but I'm really desperate to get back to laddering (my friend has skyrocketed past me in skill). Any help? I'll include whatever specs I can:

Ive heard of some razer products having this issue, but it might be something to do with the USB connection, can you plug them in anywhere else on your PC?
|
I have had a razer lachesis (died 1 week ago, and razer does not want to replace it >.<) but there was a firmware update for the lachesis which should solve the problems you mention, I also had some freeze of detection after that but it helped a bit.
I have no idea for your keyboard though... =(
Good luck

Unfortunately, with my setup there are only a few USB slots open where I can plug in my mouse and keyboard with still having a little slack (at least enough for normal gaming).

I have the same issue with my Razer Diamond Back (mouse). It occurs only in combination with certain drivers, not related to razer. A few days ago, problem cause of a Windows 7 update. A couple of weeks ago, problem cause of the sound driver. Over the last week no problems. Realy strange and random.
|
lycosa works fine for me, i guess since both of them stopped to work its an USB problem and not an razer Problem.
|
My Lachesis stopped working with the newest software had to go back to v2.03 maybe that will help
|
I got my cousin (big technophile) to fix the issue, dunno what the hell he did but now both products are working fine.
|
My previous Razer mouse (copperhead) started turning off and on randomly, I assumed the cord got busted somehow. I figured I needed a new mouse.
Bought a Lachesis a few weeks ago and have been experiencing this very problem since. Tried wiping the drivers and was just about to format the hard drive today as a last resort before buying a new motherboard >.<
Tried several different USB ports all to no avail. If anyone has managed to solve this, please do tell :>

i guess u got other stuff which u could use to test the usb port, i dont think all of them are defect at all.
i would delete all driver and reinstall them ALL new, with all i mean all which support mouse/keyboard.

I just have an issue with the lycosa where certain keys stop working until I unplug and replug it back in. One of my friends was having the same problem too.
|
have you tried the peripherals in a different computer?

I had this exact same issue with my lycosa, i also have a friend who had a similar issue but with the 'anti ghosting key cluster' not working. Basically i think it's not a very good keyboard, i use a mechanical keyboard now cause i got fed up with it. The fact razer charge so much for a cheap plastic keyboard with low quality rubber dome switches is really dodgy imo :S.

I have exactly the same problem. My Razer Lachesis 5600dpi freezes randomly every 15min-2h.
But I have the bad feeling, that this isuue just comes within SC2. I can work, surf, etc. for hours with the mouse beeing alright, but if I start SC2 the cursor randomly freezes.
Maybe it's rly a driver's collision with SC2? Is it possible?

Same thing happens to my lycosa, not very often and it hasn't happened for a while. I do also have a naga, however i've never had any problems with that.

also just while starcraft's running?

My freeze issue (same rough time intervals as yours, DeFMUDE) happen in other games as well. Only had it freeze once or twice in the desktop these past few weeks.

Only ever mid-game ^.^

i have the excact same issue. Normal use of PC no issues, but during playing Starcraft the mouse will suddenly just stop responding after a few seconds the mouse works again tho. Sometimes it even makes the sound as if a new USB device is being plugged in.
weird

no, it's not the same... mine and the issues posted before say that the mouse/keyboard doesn't react and...that's it. They don't recover after some sec, they just freeze and stay frozen. We all have to pull the USB-plug...
your's is prob. a cable-problem or some sort of broken USB port. maybe use another port or check the cable.
|
Well, my problem was officially not fixed by my cousin (never talking to him again >.>). Both my keyboard and mouse have had times when they freeze up since my last post (so not even really a day ago). Here are the programs I had open in that time period:
Google Chrome Minesweeper GOM Player Minecraft Microsoft Word Notepad
The most I've ever had to re-insert the USB cables in a single day was 4 times - in a span of about 12 hours.
I've tried replacing the drivers, testing the peripherals in other computers (they work fine there, by the way). I've done everything short of blame the USB ports themselves.
|
Mine does it too, I'm inclined to believe it's just a defect in razer products.
|
So I found out that the problem with the Lachesis is fixed easily. The problem in most cases is with the current driver. A problem with the older ones was that - especially Win7 - din't recognize the driver, though the razer software recognized the mouse >.<
SO all u have to do is getting a previous version of the lachesis driver and manually assign it to the mouse itself. :-)
Step by Step:
1. Uninstall the razer driver.
2. download a previous driver.
(I don't know all of the english terms, but i'll try to explain)
3. go into device manager and manually assign the mouse to the Razer driver. YOU HAVE TO DO IT MANUALLY. a) in device manager select the mouse and choose "update driver"
b) select "search computer for drivers"
c) YOU HAVE TO "choose from a driver's list on the computer"
d) search the "Windows\System32/64\DriverStore\FileRepository\lachesis.inf_x86_neutral_7b7dd102805b507c(MAY BE NAMED A LIL BIT DIFFERENT)\lachesis.inf
e) reboot and it should work fine now
f) [optionally] the manual assignment may cause your system to crash with bluescreen, as a friend of mine told me yesterday (he had the same problem, which is now fixed) if this happens just turn the settings in device manager back to autoassignment ... the problem with the freeze should be still fixed, only thing is that your cursor will freeze for about 5sec when you boot your system
I hope I could help some of you. For Questions just PM.
Greez,
DeFMUDE

im a windows installer engineer and i took apart the newest installation:
There is actually no real driver inside beside the software.
Can someone point me to the downloadlink of the previous version?
Thank you.

My lachesis freezes randomly after i updated its driver, what i do now is i close the lachesis tray icon when my computer starts. Works for me.
|
i have a lycosa mirror and an imperator but i've never experienced freezes
|
@Theifzz
Really, i'll check that.
btw guys, which lachesis are you using? (4000 or 5600dpi model)
|
^ i'm using 5600dpi, coincidentally i'm also using lycosa mirror ed, and i used to have problems with the connection, sometimes the lycosa would turn off and just reconnect itself within a few seconds, not sure if you have the same problem as me.
the problem was solved after i put the keyboard on the table (i was using the lycosa on my lap, sheth style :D)
hope this info helps!

i had the same thing when i plugged it into a USB 3.0 slot. works fine in USB 2.0.

Hiya guys,
Have the same setup, the lachesis 5600 and the lycosa. The mouse problem i could fix by deinstalling all the drivers and installing driver version 2,0 with firmware 2,03.
The keyboard..well, it still just dies on me, but from what I've noticed it only seems to do it when the keyboard lighting is on, for that reason i keep it mostly off. I can't rule it out though it hasn't happened with lighting off, but it definitely happens a lot less frequently.
I've had it mostly in sc2, but also in windows, a key-repeat bug, and also just the keyboard reacting badly for a few seconds, all the way to a total freeze that could only be fixed with disconnecting and reconnecing the usb. I'll give it a try in a different usb slow, i doubt that's the problem though. Gonna try the usb3 usb2 thing now. I think it's just a really poor driver by razer and I must say I'm really disappointed in razer, i used to use only logitech and thought i'd give razer a try since they're supposed to be good for gaming. I like the keyboard and mouse but the drivers are driving me bonkers, i've never ever had a mouse or keyboard that wouldn't work. Not like it's rocket science to write a keyboard driver is it?
|
go to "device manager" - expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" - right click on the devices in there Z((and select properties) --edited to add in) and under the "power management" tab.. uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
this has helped me.. i have abyssus + lycosa

Yes, Razer drivers are a travesty. For my Imperator they themselves, on their website's troubleshooting, recommend uninstalling them if your mouse stops working, and it does for many people apparently. Especially if I turned on 1000 polling rate, ohhhh boy, the mouse would shut down every 10 minutes. Just don't buy Razer products, they are all rubbish anyway (apart from the Orca heaphones, those are pretty awesome for their pricetag). Can't go wrong with Logitech. Roccat also make great products, but more expensive.

Hi I also have a Lachesis 5600DPI. The EXACT same thing occurred to me about a year ago. I RMA'd my mouse through Razer, because my ENTIRE computer became unstable and unusable in situations. I had to reformat and everything.
The issue is v3.0 drivers. In my honest opinion, don't install ANY drivers - use the mouse without anything. However, v2.03 drivers do not have any issues from my testing (before I updated to 3.0 - that was ~May of last year, and I had the mouse working perfectly for months before with v2.03).
Razer has horrific drivers. It was a brutal experience. But I do know that the v2.03 drivers are perfect. DONT GET v3.0!

Oh yes, turn off power savng management for all your usb buses...I did this initially, and together with the 2.0 driver the lachesis works for me. So at least the mouse, this is a software issue .The keyboard...well there have been bad badges initially from what i understand, where there was a fault in the production and cables on the inside came loose.
All in all while the control of the mouse is good and the keyboard feels good I'm really disappointed having been sold a product as top of the line for gaming when the support is total pants. I think i'm just going to email later, as a general complaint to let them know what i think. Instead of wasting money on packiging, stickers and neat little black boxes, along with led on the mouse that no one cares for (seriously, anyone got their mouse glowing? I don't, what a waste of electricity). Funny enough the led control for the scroll wheel and razer logo is the only thing about the control software that seems to work flawlessly.I'll post more about testing the keyboard on another usb port. I'm at work, so can't say which driver i'm using on the keyboard, but with lighting off i can pretty much play sc2 without having to unplug midgame. Still unacceptable having paid like 70 bucks for a keyboard.

This has been a huge problem for me too.
My PC has 4 USB3 ports and 2 USB2 ports.
This happens in all games, in steam, half life, etc. As soon as I put the keyboard/mouse on USB2 ports they work fine. Very odd. Also, if you have them on USB3 ports, your computer bios won't recognize them, I have to put them on USB2 ports if I want to do anything in the BIOs. All drivers and firmware updated, too.
USB3 is a drag.

Hey, I have a Razer lycosa since 2 years. I have the "some keys stop working or randomly spam (like a turbo SNES enable controller)" problem since the beginning. Then I heard about firmware problem and that razer will replace keyboard with some ID product on the back, but mine had these problem but the ID didn't matched, so no refund... Anyway, I kept the keyboard and I really like the rubber on the keys etc, and sometime when it start bugging, I just replug it quickly. Sad to hear that other products from razer are plagued by this issue.
PS: I know about 6-7 people who have the same keyboard as me, only 3 of them has the issue, roughly 50% including me.
