Is there a good reliable mechanical keyboard that has cherry mx browns and multimedia keys while having keycaps that can be swapped out with the wasdkeyboards.com custom caps?
Thanks
I can't think of any with dedicated media keys in Aus.
But the new camo filcos at Auspcmarket have the left start as a modifier key for media keys on the F keys.
Everything on the Filco is swappable with wasd caps.
Also you can just use software to program keys to be your multimedia keys, its pretty easy. This would let you buy non-camo keyboards. If you want to go down this route a Leopold is an awesome buy at $109 from PCCG, but you wont be able to swap the spacebar and maybe some other big keys because of different stabilisers.
edit: didn't read the brown stipulation

can someone explain to me which keycaps das uses? or how it feels?

Thanks for the info! I just got a Leapold 10keyless keyboard and it is absolutely amazing! It is my first mechanical keyboard and while I can't judge if it is better than others, it certainly beats my fanboyish QSENN I had :D

So I've been looking into getting a new mechanical keyboard (this will be my first one), and I'm having some trouble deciding which one I want. I've kind of decided on getting a Cherry MX - Red setup since that seems to have the least resistance and is also linear action. I tried my little bro's Razer Blackwidow and I don't like the blues, so atm I'm avoiding nonlinear keys. So far the ones I'm looking at are:
Ducky DK1008 Mechanical Keyboard w/ Red Cherry MX Switches http://tigerimports.net/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=9659
Filco Ninja Majestouch-2, Tenkeyless, NKR, Linear Action (not actually sure if this is MX- Red, but it looks like it from what I've seen) http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Tenkeyless-FKBN87ML-EFB2/dp/B0050ODQEI/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1317271529&sr=1-2
http://www.diatec.co.jp/en/det.php?prod_c=746 No idea where to buy this as it appears to be discontinued
Which one would you guys pick, and if there is another keyboard you would recommend I would be glad to see it. Also, I would like a keyboard that can type in korean too, so if there are any models like the two above please link!
As a side note I currently use a Razer Lycosa, and I want a keyboard that is around the same level of resistance for the keys (would that be reds or blacks?).

do you want a full sized keyboard? you linked a standard and a tenkeyless.
There are alot more red boards that are good. If you can find a PLU g3000 w/ reds those are nice.
You don't need a keyboard that has korean/english keycaps to type korean you just need to change your keyboard settings...
Noppoo Mini mx cherry reds
Plu 87 w/ reds
KBC poker w/ reds
Leopolds full-sized w/ reds

That Filco is not MX Red, it is actually MX Black. Just a heads up. You can buy the red one here, but it is a lot more expensive: http://www.vendio.com/stores/E-sports-Gaming-equipments/item/mechanical-keyboard-filco/filco-tlk-mechanical-gaming-ke/lid=18974430
There is a cheap Filco clone on the market right now, called the CoolerMaster Storm Quick Fire Rapid. Right now the only way to get it is through the chinese site PCHome. Costs about 110 dollar including shipping. I would recommend that one, as it seems to be almost as good as the 'real' Filco (which costs ~240 dollars excl. shipping).

Okay... seems like I'm buying a Topre Realforce this weekend. Hopefully they're as good as filcos.

At first you wont really notice but give it a few weeks and you will notice that they have the best plastic in the business and have a satisfying solid feel. My only regret is not having enough money to try the variableforce versions ):

What is the difference between the Razer Lycosa's actuation weight and the Red, Black and Brown's weight?

There's no absolute "good one". I spent a week using a variable force Realforce borrowed from a friend. I absolutely loved it. Great for gaming and typing.

That seems to be the only questionmark to me right now(for instance blacks do that really well)

Das uses its own key caps, with its own font. A lot of people (me included) don't like the font. But they are MX-compatible key caps, the same as a Filco or Leopold, or most of the other keyboards discussed on this thread. Das keyboards use Cherry key switches (brown and blue, I believe). You can read through the thread for discussion of how the various switch colors feel.

I didn't try double tapping on the Realforce while I had it, so I can't say directly. My guess is that it will be similar to double tapping on brown switches, i.e., that it is not difficult at all to do, but the switch isn't really built for it like blacks are. Maybe someone who owns a RF can give you a better answer.

Does anyone of you know if there are other very old mechanical keyboards like the IBM Model M?
So I mean keyboards that are like 20 years old, and which are also mechanical...?
|
Yes we discussed this a couple pages back. I'm picking my RK-9000 up from Purolator tomorrow (of course they came to my house less than 10 minutes after I left for school yesterday and I had a Physics lab all day today). The old RKs had Filco innards (there's documentation of it on Geekhack). I'm going to check mine tomorrow, but apparently this year's model is just as good as the old ones, which were commonly recommended on Geekhack because they were basically cheaper Filcos, other than they have a cheesy logo (I'm going to black mine out, and my keys too more than likely). I'm quite excited to pick mine up (and not get annoying automated phone calls from Purolator).
Edit:

You mean keyboards made like Model Ms? For modern equivalents, there's Unicomp, who owns the rights to make them. I was gonna get one a while back but ended up not. They seem pretty cool though. Here's their site:
