I think in general people find the Topre better from what I've heard. If that is a placebo effect caused by the high price is another question.

Did you order from The keyboard company? TNT fucking blows... I ordered some stuff from there and it ended up me going to pick up that packages myself at the airport just to be done with it... If you are lucky you can pick royal mail and it might go through the normal mail system.

I wouldn't order from there when they're cheaper when ordered from Finland and I can just go pick them up and have no hassle with returns etc. =P

$99 for a solid keyboard.

sold out on amazon after not even a week of being for sale, get yours from newegg asap.

I'm hearing mixed messages about how blues are for gaming. I know some have said that for FPSs the blues are definitely not good, but I've heard conflicting things about strategy games. Since I pretty much exclusively play SC2 at the moment I'm curious if anyone has an opinion on blues for SC2. Also, anyone tried this keyboard specifically? Its got nothing but good reviews from newegg.

I'm currently using a non-mechanical keyboard, so I'm thinking that maybe any color switch would be an improvement?

TBH I'd never even heard of mechanical keyboards before this thread so I'm a bit lost

the reason why blue is better for rts is because it cause less fatigue and also the audio feedback is really good.
The "click" sound improves your typing accuracy.

I like blue a lot, make me feels happy typing

I find that the audio feedback alone helps me realize when I'm not macroing. Since no sound means no macro!

yup I agree, Music to my ears lol

This is the dealer that I bought my ducky in Hong Kong:

I think he might do business overseas as well, you can ask for info.
Check out his photos album, he does so much modding.

Thanks for this, just went to the store and picked a Ducky Blue (English) up for 600hkd. Wanted a DAS but they don't sell them any more due to poor sales.

Just wanted to say that I had a look around HK for sellers and found a couple other places in Wan Chai computer market but they only sold English version of Ducky Red and the rest were Chinese but also the price was about 75hkd more than the facebook linked place.

Phoned them when couldn't find the store and they came outside to pick me up and the English speaking assistant was really helpful when I was trying to choose a model, letting me try them out for a bit and just explaining stuff.

Also loving the blue clicking sounds. Just awesome.

You mean keyboards made like Model Ms? For modern equivalents, there's Unicomp, who owns the rights to make them. I was gonna get one a while back but ended up not. They seem pretty cool though. Here's their site:

No, I don't mean keyboards that ARE in fact "Model M's" (I know Unicomp).

I mean keyboards, that are as famous and as durable and mechanical as the Model M :D

Cherry and Alps already built their switches (or predecessors) in the 1980s, and this is what you find in old mechanical PC keyboards. Keytronic also had its own mechanical switch design, I think. If I am not mistaken, the Keytronic line died out, but Cherry and Alps are still selling their switches.

For famous old keyboards besides the Model M, I remember an Apple mechanical keyboard. This is a clone: http://matias.ca/tactilepro/. It uses Alps switches.

Or for Aussies a mere 165 AUD: http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/info/KE-FKBN104MC-EMU2/1838

I've never seen the yellow caps before, but I like it.

I looked them up a while back but couldn't find anything indicating they still sell keyboards or anything with their switches but I'm not all that knowledgeable of them.

I finally picked up my RK-9000, and my first thoughts are wow this feels 10x better than my 6Gv2. The clickiness is amazing, and feels way more precise (though I am making a lot of typos getting used to it.) I also still need to get used to the layout because the 6G has the "\" key on the bottom row so everything is moved over a position (Since I use classic hotkeys for Terran, I go to make marines I keep inadvertently making lots of ,,,,,s instead.) but that will only take a couple hours to adjust to.

Also, Canadians who buy stuff from Newegg, Amazon, etc, use Purolator instead of UPS. I was incredibly impressed with their service on this shipment. They shipped 2 things from the opposite sides of the US and somehow coordinated to have them arrive at the same time, and the person at the depot was insanely friendly. Much better than UPS leaving a thousand dollars of stuff on your doorstep in the middle of the afternoon, or leaving a $400 watch on your step in the middle of winter.

Figured I'd throw in an opinion:

I ordered one of those IOne Scorpius M10's a week ago and it arrived earlier today, and after a few hours I have to say I'm very impressed. It feels a hell of a lot better than my friend's 6gv2 (that may just be due to switch preference, black vs blue) and only cost me $58 shipped from amazon.

Supposedly there were a lot of quality control issues a while back, but it seems like if there were any that they are now long gone.
Might makes right.

I'm just switching from blacks to blues right now and they feel so much better. I kinda use the click to set up a tempo for my macro.

Very impressed with my RK-9000 thus far. It feels incredibly sturdy when you use it. The more I use it the more I like it. Full review in a week or two.

I was under the impression that the RK-9000 was a remake of the ABS M1 and used the white alps?

Could very well be wrong, though.

The RK-9000 is the Rosewill keyboard. It uses Cherry switches:

You should read the material linked in the OP. It'll tell you scientifically and more absolutely than anything we can give you. Generally, they last longer and are far better for people who type a lot on a regular basis.

You forgot to add NKRO with alot of the mechanical keyboards that are turned towards gaming. Its a beautiful thing.

I used to think the same thing back when I used a simple optical mouse. A friend of mine got a G5 when they first came out and first I mocked him for spending that much on a mouse. I used it for 35 minutes and bought one as soon as I could after that.

Same idea with a rubber-dome vs mechanical keyboard. The mechanical keyboard just feels so much better, nkro or not.

I'd call NKRO a secondary benefit. The main thing for most people is the feel.
