this is a fantastic guide, thank you so much for putting this together. I link people to it all the time and it's a gigantic help.

For some reason, I upgraded my graphics card and my capture FPS slowed, any clue what might have done that?

Upgraded from a GTX 280 to a HD 6850.

Okay. I was streaming fine using Dynno but then i ran out of the free uses so decide to switch to xsplit.

I run SC2 on low settings (for the visual clarity), and here are my Xsplit settings:

Quality 6
Resolution 960x600 (my monitor is 1440x900)
FPS I've tried 15-30
Max Bitrate: 1000mb/s

and it runs like a slideshow. My computer runs fine but people watching the stream say it's awful. Any idea what I should be trying to tweak? / does the fact that i have a second monitor influence this at all? I assumed if my computer was having trouble handling the recording that SC2 would start to slow down (like it did when i used Dyyno most of the time) but SC2 runs like a champ while i've been using Xsplit. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Edit:

Okay, now i dropped my quality to 2 and my friend who's watching says the quality looks identical but now it's running better. Rather than running like a slideshow it's running really well for about three quarters of a second then really slow for three quarters of a second and just doing that back and forth. That seems like an internet/upload issue to me, am i correct in that thinking? If so, anything i could do about that?

double edit: yeah so i just realized it shows your bitrate while broadcasting. It spikes between 90 and 800 Kbps, going all over the place. I wonder how Dyyno worked so well given that my bitrate is going nuts.

I got a question but first let me give you my specs.

E6750 c2d overclocked to 3.2ghz
zotac 8800GT 700mhz
4gb ram
1920x1080

Ive been trying to get not laggy stream for a while and just cant do it. Internet is not the problem.

This is example, xsplit settings are 15fps 500kbps 64 for the audio. quality 6, 1088x612 16x9.

http://www.justin.tv/chukolna/b/281639932 (just mute the video is bulgarian commentary)

Ive been trying with lower resulution, more fps, less/more kbps and all other settings. But there is no diffierence really. When i get the resulution to abit less (lets say 7**x***) my CPU while playing sc2 is at like 70-80% usage, and my in game fps is more then 100 which makes me think the problem is not in the CPU.

So my questions is, is my video card the problem and if i buy new one, will i be able to get better stream with this CPU.
Can you suggest something to fix the annoying lag, without cuting too much on the quality.
Grow up Raj, there's no place for truth on the Internet.

I'm looking for help streaming 1080p. My specs are as follows:

Phenom II X6 1090T @ 4.5GHz
Radeon 5970
SC2 @ 1080p Extreme graphics
30/6 internet connection

I'm currently streaming in 720p, which is fine as far as quality goes. However, when playing Diablo II it will crash my internet connection. Seems to work fine with SC2 so far.

That being said, I'd like to run 1080p because I know my setup can handle it, but no matter what settings I try I get pretty massive stutter on justin.tv when streaming. My in-game FPS stays 80+, and according to my bandwidth monitor I'm only ever using about 2000 upload tops.

The settings I tried 1080p on were 2000-5000 bitrate, 25-35 fps, and quality 6-10. Nothing seems to fix the stutter issues.

First of all let me start by saying i have tried many guides for this.

I have
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9750 Quad-Core Processor, 2400 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
RAM: 8GB
Windows 7 x32

I am using justin.tv with xsplit with 1000 bit rate 30 fps and 800x600 and ive tried other resolutions but nothing seems to work help and thanks in advance.

Oh yea sorry i wanted to ask because even at 1000 bit rate im still getting lag and im using 6 quality constant spikes (firefox) Delay is good not like 1 minute but like 15 seconds but the constant spikes only in starcraft 2. For League of legends and Warcraft the stream is perfect.

sc2 doesnt use that much bandwidth, as far as d2 goes idk how much it uses in comparison. I would suggest you contact jtv and ask them about upgrading your account to a producer account, because I know producers get more bandwidth options which might help out with your problem on jtv side. And streaming on extreme isnt all that ideal. I would consider lowering to high with keeping physics, and other cpu intensive stuff on ultra, gpu intensive i would keep to high settings.

Cider, the main reasons for xsplit slideshow/lag is the resolution compared to the upload. xsplit will try and use more then your upload can handle. I current use same resolution as you with 1000kbps and i can max out @ 1400. Try taking a lower resolution, you should again try and find a (8x5) like your screen is. that always helps

Stealth.Ninja seems like a wierd problem you should have enough upload to handle those settings try my new settings:
I will add my new settings to the front of the guide. These are working best for me. currently

I went for a resolution ratio 8:5 which matches my desktop size (gives a little extra smoothness)
Just adding a new resolution under resolution edit, didnt work for me in xsplit so i found one of its own that matched. But if you are in doubt about your ration, you can add your desktop size and then go down the list finding 1 that matches. Talking about the number after the size 800x600 has 4:3 ratio

Resolution:
960x600 8:5
Frame rate:
25
Max Bitrate (kbps): Important here is that my internet max is 1400, i am leaving room for xsplit to use more, cause IT WILL
[image loading]

Side note for you Stealth.ninja Windows 32bit can only use or see 3gb ram, if you have 8, 5 is just not being used. Hope you can look into that

Is there any way to keep SC2 in fullscreen mode? The windowed mode kills my FPS and adds just enough lag to make blink micro impossible. Does Xsplit just not support streaming SC2 in fullscreen? Is there another program that would work?

Alternatively, is there a way I could reduce the lag? If I'm gonna stream, I want to win at least half my games....

I dont know of any streaming program that lets sc2 run in fullscreen, also streaming is not suppose to cause lag, its all about tweaking until you find the settings that work for you.
But it sounds like your computer is not up to the task of streaming, if your having fps problems by just changing to windowed.
If you read the questions/answers in the thread, you might find a solution for your problem.

My computer is brand new, so I'd think it's up to the task. Maybe the windowed setting just looks strange to me and it'll just take getting used to.

No, not without screen flicker.

Are you sure you have windowed (fullscreen) selected and not just windowed?
Windowed fullscreen looks exactly the same as fullscreen.

Question.

What causes in game delay?
Internet Connection or PC specs?

Just an update on my efforts here to get a 1080p stream working. I've narrowed down the issue to frame rate in XSplit. If I try to stream 1080p over 15 FPS, the stream will stutter every 2-3 seconds. Note that my CPU usage is under 40%, GPU usage is under 70%, and RAM usage is under 60% so I'm not bottlenecked by anything on my end.

I'm starting to think the issue is XSplit itself, as starting it up instantly cuts my FPS in half locally (even when not streaming) but it's not actually adding any extra strain to my computer. It just seems to kill local performance for no reason.

I'm having a huge difficulty getting local sound to work. I can't seem to figure it out, but whenever I try to stream or record videos there's no sound. Anyone know how to fix this?
