Check if you can login on your streaming providers home page. If you can retry, or try resetting your password.

My in-game FPS drops to 25 (from like, 150) if I start streaming.

This drop occurs if I stream anything over like 500x500 resolution.

My computer is very good, so I don't know why this is.

Any idea what I can do?

A frame drop is normal when streaming, but I can't tell if you have a problem without knowing more about your setup. What's your computer specs? 'Very good' can be anything
Post your stream resolution, fps and channel settings also.
As suggested by the above poster DXTory can help, but XSplit's own game capture method (GameSource) will also do the trick.

Thank you for the information. One tip I can give, is to just sit there and tweak your heart out. It took me a while ( weeks ) to get my stream like I like it ( Talking breaks because of exaution/frustration ) Every computer/internet connection is different, so figure out how each setting effects the outcome of the steam and tweak until you are satisfied. To be honest im still turning knobs and switches trying to push every thing to the limit for the best results. If you want to see how far I've gotten you chech out twitch under thirdEYEsix. Thanks agian for this useful information.

Trying to set up a stream of my own as well, but I am trying to tweak it to get the best possible quality and sustain decent fps as well. Anybody have suggestions on the settings i need to use with this type of Internet connection (yes i know its terrible, but its the best I can find around here that i know of)?

edit: I also drop from 60 fps in game to between 8 and 10 once I hit F12 to start recording. Any tricks or something I am doing wrong that might fix that. The only thing that got it to around 20 was dropping the resolution way down.

What hardware do you have? We can't help without knowing that, because it relates to what settings you are able to use. Though I can say that you will not be able do stream games in anything higher than 360p to 480p and it won't look pretty

Edit: Are you using DXTory (you mention F12 which the the default start key) or did you set up a hot key in XSplit? Are you trying to stream or record? If your hardware is slow you shouldn't do both at the same time.

I used these servers because JTV got an "Frankfurt Primary" and "Amsterdam" Server which is very near where i live. But somehow i cant get 4mb+ Upload on Xsplit using the Bandwith tester, its yellow all the time.

Xsplit settings: http://imgur.com/M7P9o

I use 1280x720 @30fps

I read through every page here but still cant fix the lag problem.

Hope you guys can help me!

Why are you ignoring me ? :'(

Looks like a routing problem on your isps part. If you live nearby you should have a lot better ping than you currently have.

Tried thegunruns guide, got no problems with the streaming on my part but i asked some friends to try and watch it and they got video lag. Very strange since they got 100mbit download and I got 10mbit upload. I get a green light from the speedtest to the server, so I do not understand why the video stops from time to time while the sound keeps going. I also have no fps drops on my computer or anything of that sort.

i5 2500k, 8gb ram etc etc...

Any ideas? Tried all the way from 1300kbps to 2000kbps and none of them should cause this lag, right?
quality on 8. 720p res.

And this is my test on speedtest.net

^ Are you at stock on the 2500k? Check VOD's of justin/twitch.tv in your xsplit folder, and if you see it there too, try bumping up preset a few and see if you still get it.

Ye, the cpu is at stock speed.

I checked out vods from my stream and there is no lag on them so i guess it is not a problem of mine then, instead it must be a twitch.tv problem i presume.

Yes I am using DXTory at least for now. As far as my hardware

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40GHz
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
4GB of Ram on 32 bit windows 7 (gonna upgrade fairly quick to 64 bit and 8GB of ram)

I have also been following this thread and it is what got me a pretty good looking stream, but I need to up the FPS.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272764.

I have basically the same internet connections that he does with maybe slightly worse hardware on some pieces, but if I could do it so that I don't need to use DXTory I would like that very much. I don't really have the money to spend right now and only plan to stream for some friends every once in a while.

edit: Sorry, I got the two threads mixed up when i was posting about using the F12 hotkey

For your cpu DXTory will help a lot. And it's obviously not powerful enough to stream and record, so you need to decide how you want to lessen the stress. I suggest to not record, only stream and set the preset in channel settings to superfast. Otherwise you have to lower the resolution too.

So I lowered my bitrate to 250 and set the quality to 6 and 8. Just trying to get the choppiness to stop. It wasn't too choppy after that, but movement was blurring the screen a bit much at times and nothing I tried solved the fact that I had 8 fps according to DXTory in game and live. This is the most annoying thing and I cannot find a way to keep the fps at a decent level.

edit: I messed with some settings and now it does not blur when I stream, but I still cannot find a way to get more than 8 fps while in game with it which poses a problem of being unplayable. I put my bitrate back to 350-400 and upped the buffer. I believe the buffer is the reason it is not blurry anymore. I just can't think of any way to up my fps in game which is 8 in game and 8 live. The only way I know of would be to dramatically lower the resolution resulting in a crappy stream basically

You never commented on if you are still recording?
Buffer does not matter about the blurryness - for you it's the bitrate.
What preset did you choose?
What is your cpu usage?
What FPS do you get while not broadcasting and not recording (XSplit idle + DXtory running (not recording)?

How do i set Xsplit to not record? I can't find the setting to do so. All i see is a setting to tell it what folder to record to. I have it set to not automatically record on the channel screen, but it seems to record regardless. I always see a new vod in my dashboard after testing the stream.

I have left the preset at default. I tried superfast and i didn't see any noticeable difference.

Ouch, when streaming my CPU usage jumps to over 90%. A lot of times 97-98%. That I am assuming is causing a lot of problems. Drops down to 48-50% with SC2, Xsplit, and DXtory running but idle. It seems to me that with this much CPU usage I may not want to stream at all huh?

I get 30-40 fps in SC2 when Xsplit and DXtory are sitting idle and not streaming.

a) There are two places to set this because you use DXTory. The first you have found (good), the second is in DXTory next to the "output" options on the 3rd or 4th tab if I recall.
Both these settings mean that you will NOT record a local recording on your hard drive. This is good, because that will use up resources you don't have. As for the dashboard, that's not the same - that's just your stream provider that stores a copy of your stream - that will not affect your computer.

b) Wait, you're too fast. This *will* mean something for you, about cpu usage - which you seems to have found out you don't have very much of

c) That's very bad - you need to use a faster preset and/or lower your resolution/fps. Streaming is very cpu dependent.

Changed the Preset to superfast and lowered my resolution to 768 x 432 (16: 9). Still only got 8-9 fps and was using 98-100% CPU. It almost seems to me that my CPU just can't handle streaming. Unless I am doing something horribly wrong that I am unaware of.

I have quality at 7, max bitrate at 350 and buffer at 675 with preset at superfast.
