Hey hey everybody! I just started to try out streaming and so far everything is working wonderful.
I only got a minor question concerning the add screen region feature. I am on a res of 1680*1050 and I want xsplit to use only 1400*1050 of the screen so I have 200px for priv. chats as I dont have a 2nd monitor yet.

Everytime I assign the 1400*1050 xsplit edits it into 1680*1050
Is there any possbility?

Thx a lot already =)

just use this, it hides the programs you want so they don't show up on your stream, and only show up on your desktop for you.

You can crop your screen region - right click it and set it up.

I'm talking about the "cropping" feature in the "Position" tab. Make sure your scene is not locked (see same tab). You are supposed to be able to crop scene regions, so if you can't you might want to re-create yours (maybe even the presentation).

Ah now I get you. Tried it and it crashes Xsplit for me :D I am going with the StreamPrivacy meantioned earlier and it is working pretty reliable. Thx both of you for the help =)

I have another problem now: The microphpone. Does Xsplit have a background noise suppression? (as I never had that problem via skype/teamspeak)

I am using an Asus Xonar D1 PCI on a MSI 770 C45 Board and if I monitor the Mic sound I got a horrbile background noise with the mic-boost on (which is not adjustable, just on/off). Like a constant buzzing in the background. If I turn the mic boost off the background noise is gone but my mic is really low and one can barely hear me.

If I use the onboardsound (was always disabled in bios so far), I can adjust the boost from 0-10-20-30. 10 still gives me the background noise (sure it boosts it) but it is on an acceptable level when not talking or playing music.

I tried 2 headsets on both sound devices and the result was the same.
Soundcard: buzzing with micboost on. No buzzung but low volume without (volume level on 100)
Onboard: buzzing with boost on, gets lower with lower boost. Boost off, no buzzing but too low on volume.

First I thought my boxes where interfering and not shielded good enough, but even with directly plugged in headsets, there wont be a change.

I know hardware like the CPU, gpu even the PSU can cause eletrical interference or when the case isnt grounded properly.

It appears mostly when there is no talking/music, didnt observe sth. special when starting games etc.

How do you guys handle it, if you have a similar problem and does anyone know a way to adjust the boost volume with an Asus Xonar D1?

Yeah, I know what you mean. The boost feature will always induce static noise, that's normal, and you've already covered why with mentioning EMC/electronic interference. There is no filter in XSplit, but there is in Windows 7. Goto Recording Devices, select your Mic and chose Proporties, select the "Enhancements" tab and enable the three choices ("DC Offset Cancellation", "Noise Suppression", "Acoustic Echo Cancellation"). After 1-2 seconds the background noise should disappear. Note these enhancements may not be available on all devices (they are not on "Line-In") and may also depend on drivers (I have a Realtek onboard sound board).

Ingame FPS drops from 200+ to 20-40 as soon as i create a screen region. If I try to stream it is also really choppy even more so than it is ingame. CPU usage is below 40% at all times. Same thing with ram. Changing ingame resolution to 1280x120 helps somewhat, but there are still issues. I've tried checking and unchecking every possible setting, played around with bitrates, resolutions, quality, locations, etc.

Thanks. I have very similar hardware and I can tell you from experience, that it's very very difficult to run a 720p on that CPU. You have two options:
a) Use a 3rd party capture driver such as DXTory or SCFH. I believe you already tried DXTory and while it works, you didn't want to buy it to remove the watermark. Maybe give SCFH a shot then: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=230865
b) OC your CPU

Some minor tweaks that I would do:
Set location to either Amsterdam or London (if you don't have them see http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=12222283)
Change bitrate to match the maximum bandwidth you have available. Use the "Bandwidth test" button (see http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=12518978).
Set preset to "fast" to get a lot better quality and utilize your CPU more (it will go to +85% on "fast").
Set quality to 10.
Set audio bitrate to 128.000 or higher for better audio quality.

I didnt had those options neither on the ASUS nor the Onboard, searched the Realtek drivers and what happens? the noise suppression is there =)

So guess I will use the onboard for my mic and my soundcard for the music etc. A bit annoying unplugging etc but well, shit happens!

Important addition to XSplit: The Bandwidth Test button

Edit: This feature is only available to subscribers (personal/premium licence required) - sorry.
Edit: I'm getting contradicting statements on the above. Seems like XSplit switches it on/off for free users atm. Use it if you can =)

Please take note of this, as this will help you immensely when trying to tweak your bitrate settings:

*)
How to measure your bandwidth in XSplit:
a) Important: Configure your settings (especially "Location"), load up a game, ie. SC2, and run an 200/200 action-packed replay
b) Click the button

c) Adjust your combined video+audio bitrate to what the test tells you is your maximum bandwidth to the selected server.
For more information read this: http://www.xsplit.com/broadcaster/help/index.html?bandwidth_tester_guide.htm

+ Show Spoiler +

Obsolete information since XSplit sent out latest beta version:
Note - if you don't have the 'bandwidth test' button, it's because XSplit hasn't released it yet. If you want the latest (beta of the beta), login with username: tier3@xsplit.com / password: update. It's perfectly okay to do, but I must tell you not to report bugs on XSplit forums and please note it's not released for a reason .

Ps. If anybody quotes this post, please put the pictures in a spoiler - thanks.

Did the banwidth test, gave me 4049 kbps.
Setting preset to fast didnt do much but if i set it to medium it takes up a lot of cpu.
I don't think the problem lies with the actual streaming, must have something to do with the video capturing, as my fps drops as soon as I select a screen region. It doesn't matter if i stream at 720p or 640x360, I get the same fps regardless. Also, why do I get so low fps when the cpu isnt even fully used?

Tried scfh and it only lets me record in 320x180, and lags even more than xsplit.

To answer the above.
a) Did you already try to make a new "Presentation" in XSplit. This has helped me before in that situation. Secondly make absolutely sure Windows Aero is disabled (you might want to change your theme into "Basic"). Thirdly minimize XSplit. In each step take note of the FPS.
b) Because the capture driver in XSplit is not fully optimized - it's unable to use the power of the CPU and being hindered/blocked by something (most likely inefficient software coding or the layer in Windows that handles graphics). This is also why we love DXTory so much, because it is way more efficient. Also keep in mind that XSplit isn't released yet - it may yet be improved. They already announced the GameSource (alternate built-in capture driver) feature which last time I checked was available to paying customers only. Though this also still need work to compete with DXTory.
c) That's weird. Both statements actually. Something indicates it's not set up right then. Don't give up yet.

With your CPU (i7 920) it is extremely difficult to get a decent 720p stream with ingame FPS above 20 without using DXTory.

For some reason my stream is delayed. I can see it's streaming perfectly fine with no delay at http://www.justin.tv/home?broadcast=true but on my actual stream channel at http://www.justin.tv/jw232 (just an example) it's delayed by a few seconds. Is this normal?

Yes. A few seconds is what is takes the data to reach Twitch.tv and return to your browser. Perfectly normal and cannot be changed (to be specific, you can prolong the delay, but not shorten it).

Become a partner with Twitch.tv. There are requirements you need to meet though. See here http://www.twitch.tv/partner/signup

When I updated it to the tier3, I'm getting this Notice pop up that just loads and sooner or later it says Navigation was cancelled...Refresh this page. I couldn't close notice and when I clicked refresh this page, it did nothing. Now I can't even use xsplit.

Edit: nevermind...fixed it

I installed xsplit on my new comp that I got yesterday and when I try to install the broadcast plugin for Justin.tv/twitch.tv

I get this error when trying to add the channel:

Content was blocked because it was not signed by a valid security certificate.

For more information, see "About Certificate Errors" in Internet Explorer Help.

I looked for the answer but can't really find the solution

I can't help you either. Remember if you're still on the tier3 version, these sort of things might happen. Try re-installing to latest released version :/
It might be a temporary problem if they are updating their certificates or something.
