Streaming games like SC2 and terraria would be the major usage of it. 720pwith good bitrate is to prefer. I will have 100/100

Yeah no problem at all then. For specific tips on XSplit settings, open this thread (all posts) and search for you new cpu - there are multiple posts with information to use

The FPS drop is a common thing with Xsplit (it happens for almost everyone). My best advice is to use DXtory for screen capturing in stead of what Xsplit comes with. See this guide (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272764).

However from watching the VOD I'm pretty sure that you're CPU-capped as well. The kind of lag the VOD shows, indicates either that or your upload is not able to keep up. Are you OC'ing your cpu? Judging from my own hardware you're really pushing it to stream 1080p and keeping FPS at 30+.

I'm almost sure it's a typo, but your custom settings string is incomplete. Even for using the default preset.
Finally what FPS are you streaming at?

Sigh. I need your help guys.

I used to stream from my Laptop for some time (used xsplit and it worked fine) but ever since switching to my desktop I keep having huge problems with setting up the audio part.

I simply cannot get Microphone+Windows sound to work together at the same time.

In my sound properties I can select "HD Audio rear output" for playback and "HD Audio rear input" for recording. Nothing else. In the VAC Audio repeater I can select between "Microsoft Soundmapper" and "HD Audio rear input". In XSplit however, I only have the option "HD Audio rear input" and "None" for the Microphone.

When I doubleclick my volume settings in the bottom right on my desktop I can a) turn microphone on and have microphone sound going or b) turn on stereomix and have my normal sound going. However, it's impossible as of this moment to have both running at the same time. Since this option actually influences the whole "HD Audio rear input" I can't even set up VAC to join the Mic+the Steroemix together into one channel (that's what I did on my Laptop).

tl;dr: I'm at a loss and think I'm missing something insanely obvious. >_<

Do you have audio drivers installed?

You can try going into sound, recording tab, right click on your microphone etc and click on "listen to this device" under the listen tab to try and get it to play through stereo mix, i always have this on, and it always worked fine for me with xsplit

I fixed the issue. As for the upload issue
[image loading]

No my cpu isnt OC and its only taking around 41%. As for the fps. I was streaming at 24 in that vod , now I'm able to stream at 30 fps and maintain my 100+ fps ingame.

Great! Please do share the solution with us then
I talked to starheroz2 live his stream, and what he did was to re-create the screen-region.

Often times creating a 'New Presentation' or re-doing the regions can help on FPS issues.

First, like Cyro suggested, please check your drivers.

I'd like to know your motherboard and what microphone you're using. XSplit is known to miss a lot of USB-attached mic's (from USB headsets and the like). Also, there have been an increase of "audio-related" cases on the XSplit forums lately - I'm not sure what's going on.

That said, the best place to get help on the matter really is the XSplit forums. The developers are quite active and monitors threads -just in case this is a case of incompatible hardware. Since there really are no settings for detecting audio sources (it should be plug'n'play), we can't suggest much else than to contact Xsplit.

Intel Core i5 2500k @4.5ghz oc
Nvidia GTX 570
Asus P8P67 Motherboard
8168 MB Corsair RAM
Samsung SyncMaster 2343nw 2048x1152 Monitor

I used these servers because JTV got an "Frankfurt Primary" and "Amsterdam" Server which is very near where i live. But somehow i cant get 4mb+ Upload on Xsplit using the Bandwith tester, its yellow all the time.

Xsplit settings: http://imgur.com/M7P9o

I use 1280x720 @30fps

I read through every page here but still cant fix the lag problem.

Hope you guys can help me!

So i downloaded xsplit before, but then i got a virus and had to do a system restore to before i had xsplit. Whenever I try to download xsplit now It gives me an error and it wont let me download it. I think that when i system restored it left some files of xsplit on the computer but i cant find them to delete them and i have ran multiple junk files locators. Here's a picture of the message if it helps any: http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g476/iWiSHiWASGUD/errormessageyea.png
Any suggestions whatsoever would be appreciated

Im trying to get my stream working but it seem to just stutter with whatever i do. Can i get a lil help and see what i need to change on things.

AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor 2.50 GHz
6.00 GB Ram
Windows 7 64x
My main monitor resolution is 1920x1200

Here are Xsplit Settings:

FPS: 20 ( Have tried on everything from 15 to 60)
Preset: Default
Quality: 7 ( Have tried on everything from 5-10)
Max Bitrate: 1500 kbps
Buffer: 3000 kbps
Audio: 44.100 KHz 16 bit stereo
Bitrate: 64000
Output Resolution: 1280x720 (HDTV)

If i lower the resolution, the quality is very crappy, everything is blurry. But still stream stutters.
I also have Xsplit set to only use 2 core to help keep my CPU from maxing out at 100%. But even when i had it using all 4, and it would get to about 85-90% it would still stutter.

Thanks in advance for all the help. Really need to get this stream up and going. Thanks.

Manually deleting the files that are already on your computer. Find splitmedialabs folder to where ever you installed xsplit the first time, and delete it. Then download it again. If you keep getting the error, goto the xsplit website and see if anyone else has a problem and if the admins/techs have solved it.

2.5ghz on a quad core for streaming is cutting it pretty slim. you have very little room to work with. I would recommend you use a lower resolution. 360-480p, if that doesnt work you can try to use the Dxtory method *costs money*. If that doesn't work I'm afraid your out of luck. Seeing as your xsplit is making your 2 cores run @ 85-90%. Usually for streams its best that the processor stays under 75% if it goes past that it causes lag problems.

Phenom is a weak CPU by today's standards, you wont be able to run smoothly on default settings at 1280x720 20fps i think. The issue isn't really with clock speed (a 2600k at 2.5ghz would do far far better) but more with it being an older CPU generation that is less powerful at the same frequency, as well as being lower frequency. Move to a faster preset in xsplit channel settings (not "faster" specifically, but one less slow than the default) and keep trying, monitor CPU usage etc. Running with a faster preset will greatly decrease CPU usage at the cost of compression, and require you to stream at a higher bitrate for the same quality, but you don't really have a choice, if you hit 100% CPU on a core xsplit or sc2 is using during streaming you will drop frames in game or on the stream which is far worse than streaming at slightly worse quality. Note that the task manager "CPU Usage" bar doesn't really matter, if you hit 100% on any individual core during a high stress period (200/200 battle with ff's, storms etc) or worse, during general play, you will have those issues. Also keep in mind that framerate will increase CPU usage almost linearly, so get the FPS you want (24 is a good target) before you start messing around with presets and CPU.

I set core affinity in task manager for streaming and i would recommend it in this case (2 cores sc2, 2 xsplit), as it means that you can balance out xsplit settings without having SC2 use CPU resources that were available to xsplit when you was tuning settings etc, it makes for a more consistent testing environment.

Drop your screen resolution to 1920x1080, not 1200, because it allows you to see more in starcraft because of the way camera scaling works, but more importantly, is the same aspect ratio as 1280x720. You will get quality degradation or a weird crushed/stretched image if you try to scale across aspect ratios.

You might want to use 960x540 (1:2 downscale of 1920x1080) as your resolution in xsplit, as it will be scaled into slightly better than 1280x720 and use a notable amount less CPU if you are struggling to run, but it doesnt really matter that much. I just use it because i have less upload.

You can probably increase bitrate to like 3.5k with 5mbits up, too, that will help a ton. I can stream and play while on skype with less than 100kbits upload not allocated to xsplit and i very rarely drop frames with that (like 10 every 100k) but leaving a bigger margin is better if you actuly have decent upload bandwidth (i have like 750kbits, but a good CPU setup)

Actually, the 85-90% usage was when he used all 4 cores. From his post, I'd deduce that he claims to use less than that after he set it to two cores only. It won't change much though. He is still cpu capped and needs to lower his stream ambitions. Nothing wrong with what Cyro wrote imo.

When I start the program and have Starcraft 2 on at the same time, my SC2 tend to lag, I don't know why. Do you know how it might be fixed? When it changed to Windows Basic colour because of xsplit, the SC2 starts to lag. My computer is a 2K $ new computer and I got 24mb/sec, and it lags EVEN tho I havent STARTED to stream yet. Hm ?
