i'd like to go for Qck heavy, but I actually don't have space on my desk for it!

My current bargain bin cloth pad is pretty small, but the size has never been a problem for me. I'm one of those people that basically anchors my wrist in the same place and just uses my hand

I had a look at that Vespula and it looked cool, was a bit worried about size though. I'm leaning at the moment towards the Razer Goliathus Speed. It's got really good reviews, and it seems Speed > Control for RTS games?

Control seems like its for super precise aiming in FPS games.

The qck+ heavy is the best. Seriously don't buy a razer mouse pad. They are extremely small and the vespula's pad is terrible.

Basically do this:
Mouse: Razer (mamba/deathadder preferably)
Mousepad: Steel series (qck+ heavy preferably)
Keyboard: Any mechanical (Filco preferabaly)
Headset: Sennheiser (pc 350 preferably)

Believe me, I have wasted a shit ton of money on gaming gear over the years.

Not hard to see how you wasted so much money, lol.

In all seriousness, haven't you seen Flash rock up with his $20 mouse and $2 mousepad which he tapes to the table. This pretty much sums up everything, it's all user preference. There is no "best" anything when it comes to kb/mouse/pad.

My suggestion, go into a shop and actually test this stuff out. Don't take someone's opinion over first hand experience.

I know a lot of people like these. It's what I have. I'm sure it comes down to preference.

Of course it's all personal preference. I used a $5 keyboard for 5 years until I got my filco. If you got the money and like gaming might as well get nice things. (btw I got the filco for programming not specially for gaming.)

Thats fine in a game with 640x480 resolution.

DPI and performance matters in SC2, with its much higher res.

I had the original when it came out and 10 years later I got the archetype.

Doubled sided and awesome.

I'll second this. I've had mine for 8 years now. It has stood the test of time, which is a lot more than the other brands can say. 2 more and it'll be 10 years for my func as well :D

its all preference .. find something you like though.

I tend to like thinner mousepads.. (using an alienware one now) I have a QcK coming soon. And I have used Metal and Cloth pads..

I tend to find the thinner plastic ones the best.. but I play with a pretty high sensitivity.. so you may not like that.

I personally used a generic black mousepad that I bought for $1 at Fry's Electronics lol. I think the fabric is almost as good as Steelseries' QcK series.

Same, I use QCK Mass though since my desks aren't that big in college, but thickness is the most important hence why i got the Mass instead of generic QCK or QCK+. Low as hell sensitivity here too

is this mirror mousepad the Qck series? I can't find any mirror mousepad.

Func F series 1030 R is by far my favorite mouse pad. I have used a qck, razer exactmat, icemat. I don't think I would try another as long as they are making the func 1030R.

Steelseries <3 been using them so long, all of them are great, they usually have a rough and a smooth side, i use the rougher, it just works. i have a very small one too, 4D i think it's called. used to have a huge one, but realized i did no need that at all

i use a Steelseries Xai Mouse on it.

the marketing dudes have successfully converted you. i have a gaming mouse, mouse pad and probably going to get some other gaming gear soon, but honestly, the mouse wouldn't affect much as most bigger brand mice have already achieved the minimum standard and whatever is achieved is usually not used by most of the people. how good is a mouse with 5000dpi when you only need 2000. or even if it is used, how many of use actually utilize it to the fullest.

just like microsoft word, every single year, they have a new edition, every new edition comes with new features. when was the last time you used a new feature?

I have gaming gear cause it looks cool and makes me feel like a gamer. and i like the touch of the stuff i'm using though technically, i don't need them.

it's all about personal preference i think. i use a Corepad for ages now and i'm really happy with it. since it's made of teflon-coated glass it's quite heavy and it stays where it is supposed to.

after checking the website (corepad.com) i noticed that they don't sell those anymore though...

be aware most cloth pads (including QcK and most razer) completely destroy the abyssus and make it jittery like hell

I use an oversized reversible aluminum mousepad by rocketfish.

Control side with high sensitivity 3200DPI @ 35-40 % sensitivity (able to pan 1.5 screens with wrist+finger movement only)

For fps gaming I use the speed side with a heavier mouse (add weights to G9) and still 3200DPI but 5-10% in-game sensitivity.

In the end its all a style and feel thing.

Whichever one you get don't forget to replace or resurface it from time to time as wear is an inevitability if you mass game (especially true if you also play FPS games)
