Traditionally, TLnet has taken a firm position against off-site content being posted on the site unless the post is made by someone (very) active in the community. While this made sense when StarCraft II came out — back when everyone and their mother tried to make a quick buck off the game — the landscape has since changed. StarCraft II is no longer the king of the esports hill, even if we wish it wasn't so. However, there has been a positive effect thanks to the community becoming smaller: the general quality of the available content has gone up. And high-quality content is definitely something we want on TLnet, no matter if its generated by our staff, a member, or someone in the larger SC2 community.

While we have relaxed our moderation when it comes to off-site content over the last few years, we've treated the change as an internal change in policy rather than a rule change. This resulted in the changes not being properly communicated to our community and the content creators out there. This forum is our way of saying: open the flood gates (as long as you follow the few rules we have set up).

To content creators:
The goal of this forum is to not just get extra eyes on the great content that's out there, we also want our users to discuss your content and give you feedback. We feel like other platforms aren't as good for long-form discussion and feedback, so we invite you to not just post your content but also engage with your viewers/readers/listeners. Use the TLnet community to help develop your content. Keep in mind that as long as a post follows the general rules of TLnet we won't ban or warn anyone. Our advice is to embrace critism rather than trying to stifle it.

To our community members:
In the words of the US Homeland Security: "If you see something, say something". We don't expect all content creators to all of a sudden flock to TLnet to post their content. If you see a piece of content that you like, post it! Help the content creator out by starting a thread for them. Just make sure there isn't already an old thread that you can bump, in case the content you found is part of a show.

Oh no, why would you quote Homeland Security?!

But also, does this mean that TLnet is taking more of a reddit-like approach to gaming content in general?

If your definition of "reddit-like approach" is the same as mine, then no. This is a StarCraft II content forum, so we won't have threads about memes or content about the new Assassins Creed-game, for example.

We are allowing non-staff to submit their work, not hosted on TLnet, for exposure/feedback though, so if that's your definition, then yes

Ehh, personally I think SC2 is in a place where consumers would hardly consider any content promotion in the SC2 General Forum as being 'spam' or self-serving anymore. We're all sorta here because we still like the game a lot, and we want to share cool things about it with each other.

That said, maybe this forum ends up becoming a good hub for sharing things.

Unfortunately, no
This is under SC2. LoL is not SC2.

Oh shit! This forum got started just a few weeks before I'm scheduled to start recording my podcast.

Is that the kind of thing I can post here and plug? It's not ONLY focused on Starcraft or esports, but it is about nerdy pop culture and Starcraft will definitely be a recurring topic. Is that the kind of thing I can post on here? Someone let me know. I'm recording it either way but I'd love to be able to share it with my beloved TL community.

I am running an Instagram account with StarCraft highlights.
Doing it as a hobby in freetime (mostly on a subway to work ), so there are not that much of a content, but i am trying to upload at least a couple highlights a week. There are no ads or smth and I am not aiming to have a profit out of it. Just trying to fill the lack of SC content on Instagram and probably reach and invite some new people to this awesome community.
Audience is slowly growing (more than 2k in 8 months without any promotions).
So if you'd like, check it:
https://www.instagram.com/starcraft.highlights/

And of course comment/discuss and do whatever you like. I'll do my best to improve.

Would you be including StarCraft Remastered content in this or is it just SC2 content?

Hello everyone,

I would like to grab the opportunity, and post my blog here, which is about Brood War AI development. I have series about making one from scratch (24 parts so far), and a (more or less) weekly podcast called the Undermind about the same topic. I hope you enjoy it:

I'd very shocked/appalled if either Starcraft game was considered not appropriate content. TL has never been unfriendly to either one.

I wonder if there is enough SC2 content to justify its own forum apart from SC:R. I think the answer is no, but if your goal was to have a forum with 10-11 threads then more power to you.

User was banned for this post.
Banned for saying "zerg players are by far the biggest whiners in sc2 history" despite the fact that this forum is full of such posts about Terrans. Foreigner Elitists in control!
