This makes reviewing and comprehending a replay easier.
Thanks for bringing these ideas to bw.
Imagine how cool it would be if a future ASL used your project on the official korean live stream.
Thanks! Doing this on a livestream is a bit problematic. I'm not sure if that's even possible unless they host the game on this client. With the official StarCraft, this is not possible I'm afraid.
Replay watching though, this is running on a custom StarCraft that has dll injection in it.

Thank you for explaining the tech, I thought this was an overlay that was reading the rep file or something.
Did you think about making this open source? I'm not sure whether ppl would run a custom replay software just to have these overlays enabled, but if you made it open source, it should be possible to include the features in e.g. the ShieldBattery software, or the recent in-browser replay viewer.
Man, I love the new vibe coding era that we're finding ourselves in. There will be more and more projects like this where people just implement the features they want the game to have. We're really gonna build up and improve the BW environment without blizz ever having to touch it again.

Thank you! I'm still thinking about what to do with it. Whether to sell, open source, or just use it by myself. There are still some features I want to add to this. This is by no means a finished product but I think it's in a pretty good state.
About the custom software, I think it should be fine, ShieldBattery already requires you to install a software to use it so it's just the same as that.
In order to view the replay from a browser, I guess there can be some remote streaming solution where we're renting a PC.

If looking for inspiration or consultation take a look at https://github.com/w3champions Context: These guys saved the warcraft 3 ranked scene when it was at its lowest, they also built an installable client which came with it's own ladder/ranking system, in depth statistics and modern overlay for units, production etc. and even live viewing(with lag delay) available for all ranked matches filterable by MMR. Every match is also recorded and uploaded for download on their site as well. It is truly an amazing tool they've built.
I think Starcraft ladder is in a much better state than WC3's was but observer overlays and unit/production info is in a much worse one.

Yes w3champion is goated.
I think that's what shieldbattery is trying to do right? They have their own ladder it looks like.
