Since I'm in desperate need of a new computer, I've asked a friend of mine to help me build one using parts chosen from Newegg. He's come up with a Wish List of everything, and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what he's chosen. Are each of the parts good choices, or are some unnecessarily lavish while others are lacking? I'm looking to stay at about the price range shown in the total cost, (which does include a monitor) but I'd be willing to spend more if a certain part is particularly worth it. Hoping to be able to run at max settings, although if it's a significant cost increase to do so, then I'd rather save the money. I'm really just looking to get the most value out of it that I can. Thanks for the help, any suggestions are appreciated.

First,
Somehow your friend managed to recommend you a GTX460 768 that is $50 more than the suggested price. The 768 model should be $170, not $220. At that price you can buy a stock-clocked 460 1GB:

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=GA-460OC1G&title=GIGABYTE-nVidia-GeForce-GTX460-1GB-DDR5-2DVI-Mini-HDMI-PCI-Express-Video-Card

Secondly, I would use this HDT heatsink instead:

With no power comes no responsibility?

Reiterating: you're missing a PSU, and the monitor is out of stock. You might be able to find slightly better deals by using newegg combos or waiting for discounts, but overall that's a good general build other than the exact GPU, HDD, and CPU heatsink selections.

A good PSU to get would be this Corsair VX550 for $60 (and additionally, 10% off that with promo code and $10 MIR). 550W is significantly more than you need even if you overclock the CPU and GPU, but it's it's a Corsair unit with a 5 year warranty.

You don't need a network card
I mean at your budget, I would almost prefer getting a gtx 470 rather than SLI gtx 460, and get an SSD with the money that you save. Other than, everything looks fine

What games do you want to play on ultra? GTX 470 is plenty in general (in fact, GTX 460 is already plenty for SC2) unless you're playing at a resolution over 1920x1200 and/or like lots of fullscreen antialiasing.

With a single GPU, you could get a cheaper PSU like the 650TX or the even more discounted 550VX. Maybe the 550VX is on the low side if you're doing heavy overclocking. Are you planning on overclocking? If not, you don't need the HSF either.

No offense, but if you're asking about the network card, I'm guessing you might not be the type to overclock a lot and keep up with video card drivers and optimal SLI configurations. So a single-GPU system plus saved money or an SSD might make more sense, especially since most games don't really need the power of SLI GTX 460.

A decent SSD would be an OCZ Agility 2 90GB for $170 (before $30 MIR).

Any comments? (I'm not too computer savvy so help is appreciated) Plan to keep the power supply for a while. Everything else is somewhat budget build. After combo/discounts, comes to $900.

Edit: I can get Newegg parts from the states through relatives.
Edit2: Ok seems like the same problem as the guy before. Just listing the items.

I do plan to at least OC the CPU and GPU and as for games it will probably only be like sc2, hon, cod4, and others as they come out. I guess in that case I probably only need 1 gpu (my resolution is 1920x1080) and then I could in addition get a SSD instead of the GPU.

Edit: I also forgot to note that I want to stream and possibly record videos fror sc2. Do I need a the second GPU for that?

Maybe I should get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130550 instead of the 460

jk87:
i5-750 + GTX 460 is the thing to get for that price range, so no complaints. Everything else you selected is one of the most popular options in the budget performance range for the category, so they're good too.

irfatality:
Streaming is reliant on the CPU, so your overclocked i7-950 would be up for the task, to say the least.

Hey guys... can you take a look at this for me? I'm unsure about a couple of things...RAM and Monitor...the 6 GB was actually cheaper than buying 4GB when I bundle it with the Mobo

@smwatkin: What applications you're planning to run on your computer? 2xGTX460 is overkill for SC2 but could server you well if you plan to play the upcoming Crysis 2.
May want to upgrade the i7 930 to an i7 950, a mere $15 increase and you get an 3.06 Ghz at stock with great oc potential.
3x2GB Ram for Triple channel is way to go on i7 platform, so RAM is fine.
I dont think you need a standalone network card since your Mobo has already got the card build-in.
Are you sure you only want DVD-ROM for your new PC? A few dollars more will net you a good DVD writer which is much more useful than a DVD-ROM
If you didnt already own a large capacity HDD, you may want to add a 500GB or 1TB HDD to the build since SSD is only enough for your OS and some core applications. Its not for storage. A 500GB/1TB HDD will fill that role.

It'll be fore SC2 but I'd like to stream as well, and also record videos. Future gaming needs to be an option as well..I won't play SC2 forever.

I didn't realize the MOBO had a network card built in, I'll take it out thanks for the tip. When I looked on NCIX the 950 was a lot more than 15$, but I'll do it if you think it's a good idea! I don't need storage, I have a macbook pro for any DVD burning I need to do. DVD ROM is basically just to install games and applications. I have 2 laptops that I can use for burning and whatnot. SDD will be for the OS, SC2 and any other games. I'll pick up a HDD in the future if I need more storage.

What's the main benefit of the 950 over the 930? Also, is this case going to come with the fans I'll need to overclock the CPU and GPU?

Avoid newegg. Pricematch everything on NCIX / MemoryExpress. Use www.shopbot.ca or any other price comparasion website to help you get the lowest price.

I think you should look into the 600t, possibly save you some money if you are really interested in getting a corsair case. The 800d and 600t are quite similar.

All cases come with some fans (usually 3), it should tell you in the spec which fans are included.

950 has a higher multiplier so you will be able to achieve higher clocks.

Since you mentioned you're gonna stream. This make an i7 950 even more a superior choice here, since streaming require alot of CPU power(raw frequency). With $15 you have a 300Mhz clock boast, even at stock speed i7 950 is the right one for the job.
Take a closer the look at the build, I think if you dont plan to heavy OC your processor, maybe you can cut back the mobo a bit. The current mobo maybe a bit expensive. You may want to take a look at this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131665
Same ASUS, $30 cheaper and still does the job with all the feature you want like 6Gb/s Sata, USB 3.0.
The case is absolutly a beast, maybe even an overkill, but a very solid case. It equiped with 3x140mm fans, thats enough air veterlation for OC.
If you want to cut back on the budget a bit, a cheaper case will do as well.
